7.10 Wolverhampton: Nursery (Class 6), 1m 141y

A poor nursery which gives well bred Gameplay a big chance to get off the mark on his nursery debut. He hasn't shown a lot in three maidens, but the slight step up in trip and the fact that he gets into this race of an opening mark off 60 must give him a big chance.

Add to this that cheekpieces are applied for the first time and his recent gelding op - Mr. Appleby has a tremendous record with geldings first time out - and a price of 9/2 becomes suddenly quite a big one in a race like this. Gameplay could have easily more to offer.

425 Ayr: Ancient Cross 6/1 Bet365/Coral

Been threatening to win lately and his 5th last time was a decent effort. Not been dropped into a class 5 contest since 2009 and runs off his lowest mark since then.

C/D winner when landing the Ayr Silver Cup in 2013 and despite his age should really be winning in this grade.

Ayr 1.40 - She's electric - win at 9/1 bog wm hill

7F nursery

My selection qualifies after 3 runs in maidens. Improved from run 1 to run 2 then went backwards when stepped up to a stiff mile on softish ground, pulled too hard and had nothing left in the finish

Back in trip in a bigger field should suit and I'm expecting a better effort on handicap debut

A2.10 Dark Amber 11/1 Betvictor

It's interesting that this trainer has 2 winners from just 3 runners here and the jockey (Tom Queally) has a 2 from 7 strike rate. The jockey is usually amateur ridden and the booking of TQ is certainly eye-catching. The cheekpieces are back on now as well (2 from 5 with those) and despite the higher handicap mark, I can see the horse going very close here.

Ayr 4:25 : Blue Sonic @ 26.00 betvictor e/w thanks

Blue Sonic if its blue that will do for me , the 5yo comes back racing after winning 3 races in a row, she ran poorly 32 days ago at Hamilton 6f good to soft when finishes 11th of 12 runners beaten 33 lengths

She has won three times from 5f to 6f on good to soft ground all at Ayr two over 5f and the other 6f , Jockey Phillip Makin rides Blue Sonic for the first time today for Linda Perratt yard who runs 5 in races

4.25 Ayr

Ancient Cross @ SP (Close to off time)

Won the Silver Cup here two years ago off a mark of 97, has been winless since but has tumbled in the weights even though only been beaten 3l or less six times since off marks of 91, 87, 85, 80, 77 and more recently todays mark of 72.  Drops into a class 5 for the first since 09 today.  Gibbons takes the ride today which could be significant as twice of the last three times he has ridden him he has been backed into favouritism.
