Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015 12.50 Southwell Interesting little handicap Forced Family Fun could be very well handicapped, scored convincingly in April on soft ground off 72, then went on a break made a reasonable effort on return in October on turf of mark of 79 before then switching to hurdles latest start in November and winning off a mark off 122. He has somehow got an AW mark of 74 which looks very lenient however yet to try this surface which is a concern. Brassbound didn’t set the world alight for his in form yard last time out and needs to take another step forward to be winning this but you would rule nothing out from this yard around here. Hussar Ballard scored well in a 5 runner event around here with the 2nd winning since boosting that form, 6lb rise makes life tougher, but has a good record here 2 wins from 3 (the loss was over a mile and easily excused) and yard continue in good form. 1pt win Hussar Ballard 7/2 bet365

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015 3.50 Southwell - General Tufto win @ 9/2 Bet365 General Tufto did very well to finish just 1 and 1/2 lengths behind today's main rival Eium Mac. He was outpaced early and was the back marker when turning in but stayed on strongly up the straight to get close to Eium Mac. The jockey also lost his whip down the straight which can't have helped him and may have flattered Eium Mac with the winning distance as he might've got closer. Eium Mac has a penalty today which makes General Tufto better off at the weights this time around. General Tufto likes the course and has 11 wins here and I feel if he can stick with the early pace, the jockey keeps his whip and with Eium Mac's penalty General Tufto should be able to overturn the result from last time out.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015 14:20 Southwell Red Primo 0.5pts e/w 12/1 Paddy Power BOG Course and Distance winner and raised 3lbs for his last win in this class of race. Hayley Turner is the jockey this time and I think she might be able to eke a bit more out of the selection. 3/6 (50%) on the surface, 3/4 (75%) at this course. Whilst Best Tamayuz and Kung Hei Fat Choy rate dangers, I think it's worth an each-way bet.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015 Not had a wee punt on a bumper for a while so will have a wee bash in the closing race at Bangor-on-Dee. A few could be anything and I'll take a wee chance on one of the new comers, Sir Paddy Brennan has always been my kind of jockey and he makes the trip for just the two rides, both of them are for trainer Mr Fergal O'Brien and although he's not been in great form some yards find their form at very different stages of the national hunt season so its a question of watching him closely for the time being. This 6yr old bay mare has three entries but connections opt for here ''Bangor'' her sire was generous so it will be interesting viewing on how she takes to the race track for the first time. Another race with some mystery but Fergal is no stranger with these kind of races and would not be showing up with her if he thought she would not run a race of promise. 15:40 Bangor - Spy in the Sky. 1pt Win Bet @ SP

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015 Bangor 3.10 - Big Casino (1pts win, 7/2 Betfred) In reasonable nick the last few runs and did run a third in a decent event lto at Aintree when he had every chance three out but they just got away from him. I liked how he travelled in that race though and this looks an easier test on paper so a similar run from him today would put him in the mix.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 6th January 2015 1.30 Sedgefield: Knocklayde Express 10/11 bet365/PP Not much of a price but my Nap of the day anyway. Interesting that Richard Johnson stays up north for the one ride here for trainer Kim Bailey. This horse was bought off Stuart Crawford after winning a Kelso bumper and has been off track since. He comes up against his former trainer here which is quite a coincidence and Andrew Lynch travel over to ride that one. Crawford should know where he sits with the favourite but will also know Knocklayde Express was the better of the two this time last year.
