2.10 Aintree Another Palm 1 pt win @ 8/1 William Hill I like the look of this Irish raider who has shown in his last 2 starts over fences that he has plenty of stamina and should be well suited to this test. He is only a lightly raced 6 year old, but his form seems to have taken off, since stepping up in trip. He hadn’t shown much form until stepping up to 2m 6f at Fairyhouse earlier in the year where he won a decent enough handicap. He then improved on that, with a cracking effort in a very competitive handicap chase at Punchestown over 3m 6f, where he finished just 3 lengths behind the talented horse Uncle Junior. That day he beat plenty of very good chasers and probably showed to his trainer that he may one day be a strong Grand National contender. After that run, he had a short break and returned to the track over hurdles before running another cracking race last time out at Cork to just get out battled by The Bishop Looney by under a length. He travelled extremely well throughout the whole race that day and jumped well. The drop in trip to 3m 2f should not be a problem but obviously these fences will prove and totally different proposition to anything he has faced before. Looking at previous trends for the race, only 1 horse under the age of 8 has managed to win this race in the last 10 years and that horse went on to win the National. Another Palm is only a 6 year old and although they haven’t got a good record in the race in recent years, there have only 4 runners of which 1 were placed. Trainers tend to keep younger horses away from the National fences as you need a horse with plenty of experience. Irish trainers have a good record in the race, having won 3 out of the last 6 renewals. They look to have a strong chance of taking it this year as well and I do think Noel Meade’s horse has the best claims. The ground tomorrow looks as though it is going to be at least soft with the chance of more rain. There are plenty of horses who will either not be suited by the going, or won’t get the trip because of the ground. I don’t think the ground will pose a problem for my selection, as he has won on heavy ground in the past and like most Irish horses, he is used to running on soft-heavy conditions. The trip will not pose a problem as he is already proven over marathon trips, having gone close over 3m 6f. Noel Meade is in good form at the moment and this horse should be spot on for this. The biggest cause for concern is his lack of experience but I don’t think they would be sending this horse over if they didn’t think he could cope with it. He jumps very well and it will be interesting to see how he is ridden tomorrow. The ultra cool Paul Carberry rides him tomorrow and he is usually noted for his hold up style. However he rode this horse up with the pace last time out and I think this is how he will be ridden tomorrow given that Aintree suits horses that race up near the front. This way you can stay out of trouble! The main dangers look to be the likes of Always Waining, Niche Market and Rare Bob. I can’t see Hello Bud winning it again as I don’t think any horse has ever followed up in this race. Niche Market goes for Paul Nicholls who has a great record in the race. Rare Bob is pretty classy in his day and is probably the main danger and Always Waining must be feared given his record at the track. There are slight stamina doubts with that one though. I hope Another Palm is the one to be with in this race as he looks to be a staying-chaser improving with every run. Age is against him in this race but he gets in the race off a very low weight and that could prove crucial given the conditions. He looks to have a favourite’s chance and should go very close with a clear round... Easier said than done!

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December Jockey B.Powel is riding well these days so i will take a chance on his mount in Race 2' on the card at Sandown Park. The 8yr old gelding was 4th last time out under 11-9 but he has a much better weight today off 10-4 He's ran well before at Sandown coming home 3rd and 2nd, he's been off the track for 3 weeks and should come into today's race with a live chance of some take home pay. Sandown Park 13:25- Warne's Way. 0.5 e/w bet 25/1 Paddy Power. Hope your weekend has some luck in it.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 3:00 Fairyhouse - Sir Des Champs - Back Won 3 from 3 so far including an outstanding victory in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham festival. He came from a mile back to win that day and makes his chase debut here and could be anything over the bigger obstacles. Has a huge chance of going a long way if able to translate his hurdles form over fences 1pt win @ SP

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 2:10 Aintree: Niche Market 9/1 Betfred Niche Market goes for Paul Nicholls and he has a fine record in the race and could not have his string in better form. Niche Market ran well in the Grand National before finding that trip too far. Back to a three miles two here, this sound jumper looks sure to run a good race. He has his fair share of weight, however the statistics reveal that three of the last five winners carried 11st 5lb or more.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 14:30 Sandown Alasi E/W (13,00) Bet365 Alasi won her lastest listed race, against decent company at Wetherby. She will now face some tuff rivals but the distance and slightly good going, will suit her well. Alasi runs of a decent mark, witch should not be a problem. Its her first handicap race, for over six month and she is more the capable to handle beeing one of the top weight. Alasi recent form. 3-4-2-8-1 The jockey Dominci Elsworth are a regular, whit this 7 year old mare.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 1.25 Sandown: Arrayan 1pt win @ 8/1 PP BOG Really interesting horse stepped up in trip. Very lightly raced and this handicap mark may be well within the horses reach given how well it was fancied for the Imperial Cup despite blowing up. Trainer shrewd gone in mob handed here and with Conor O'Farrell good for his additional 3lbs think this horse looks decent value at current 8/1.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 2.10 Aintree Ballyvesey - fourth in race last year and looks like theyve been gearing him up for a repeat bid. Races from out of the weights again but has reportedly strengthened up over the summer and is going for the National in the Spring. To get in, will need to run well here. 20/1 Paddypower, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 1.00 Chepstow Teaforthree ran a cracking race lto and will appreciate this slight drop in trip. Jumps well and has the able assistance of the champ in the saddle so every reason to expect a good run. Was ahead of Restless Harry who doesnt look the best jumper in the world and he should have the edge there. Chepstow is a tricky course and only a clean round of jumping will suffice so hopefully this is a good opportunity for Teaforthree to score. 1 Pt win 7/2 Boylesports

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 12:35 Aintree Dontpaytheferryman 1pt win - 20/1 (PP) Does look to have a bit to find to win in this company, but is well handicapped on best hurdles form and ran an encouraging race back over hurdles two starts ago, when outpaced and staying on. Will like any juice in the ground which there should be, and has an absolutely tiny weight to carry. Hard to imagine there's huge improvement to come from a horse who has seen the track fifty-one times, but amazingly he's only six, and improved from a 40 rated flat horse to 81. Wouldn't surprise me if he could be a 130 hurdler.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December Master Overseer 2.05 Chepstow 1pt Win 10/3 WH 3 miles at Chepstow will take some getting and Master Overseer fits the bill. He won a hurdles race over course and distance earlier this month on heavy going. Should come on for that run and he definitely stays having plenty of form over further. Very consistent type who's form from last year read 1112 - all over fences. Carries 11-2 in this but he should still be better than his current mark as he's only run 5 times over fences. Stable in good form and if he jumps well has a great chance of winning this.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 1:25 Sandown - The Betchworth Kid - 1pt @ 22/1 (Bet365) It's impossible to know what version of The Betchworth Kid will turn up for this exceptionally competitive contest but Alan King's 6-year-old gelding looks well worth an attempt at this sort of trip again (last 3 hurdle outings came over just shy of 2m 1f; tackles 2m 6f today) and he could be up to causing a bit of a shock. This quirky campaigner only has a single hurdle win to his name in 9 attempts but he has more than enough ability to pop up in a good race some day and he's one that I want to keep on side for sure, especially when he's getting conditions to suit. The Betchworth Kid was a Listed winner on the flat this year and went on to run a few decent races in that code afterwards. He made his seasonal hurdling bow in the extremely tough Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham when last seen and although he was never sighted, he was staying on well up the run-in, shaping as if the return to further would be no bad thing. I can't really get my head around the horse at all but he's potentially on a decent mark and should have no problems with today's conditions. It all depends on how he is mentally and if he's on his game, 22/1 is a big price. If he's not, the likelihood is that he'll tail-off in no time. Still, he's worth having a minimal bet on just in case he does pop up.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 0.5 e/w fix the rib 100/1 stan james 15.05 sandown my selection fix the rib will probably get stuffed by this field(not the best way to start a write up) but i cant ignore the 100/1 about this horse even though the field is down to 7 runners, fix the rib ran just 2 weeks ago but im hopeing connections ran it then to get it racing fit as its last run before that was back in april 2010,fix the rib has had 17 runs todate, winning 5,2nd 3 times (includeing a class 1 contest) and has been 3rd twice,a good horse in its time,if can get anywere near its best form can cause a major shock

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 2.10 Aintree - 1pt win Mad Max @ 22/1 (Boyles) Has to carry top weight here but this represents a drop in grade from the likes of Master Minded, and he's the type to relish the national fences. A huge horse who jumps very well, he has some high class form and the flat track with testing fences will suit him perfectly. There are stamina doubts also, but he's being targeted at the grand national by his new connections so clearly they think he'll stay, and hopefully he'll go well.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 3:20 Aintree The Sawyer @ 22/1 e-w VC I think this test could suit this horse today, has a good record on soft/heavy going so the forecast soft ground looks ideal. Slight worry that he hasn't got round here over these fences in 2 tries but 22/1 looks worth the risk. Was up againt it lto in grade 2 over inadequate trip and unsuitable ground, todays race looks right down his street.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December Flemi Two Toes - 12.10 Wetherby This horses trainer, Sarah Humphrey is in cracking form and is 2 from 4 races at the track. This horse showed good form for rebecca * Curtis in bumpers and was placed in 3. But for today's trainer it Is 1 from 1 over hurdles. It won over 2miles and 5 furlongs so it should get today's distance. I think eventhough this horse was penalised, it looks the safest option Flemi Two Toes win @ 2/1 *Stan James

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December Aintree 12.35 Featherbed Lane win - 4/1 SJ Beat a very well handicapped horse of David Pipe's lto and shaped as if step up to 2m4f will suit. Good race here with several having a chance, but I think he is an improving sort and will still be ahead of the handicapper. Yard is doing well.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 12.00 Aintree: Cinders And Ashes 1pt 5/4 VCBet Cinders And Ashes went into a few notebooks when finishing second at Ascot last time, he made a terrible blunder half way round and still managed to come through with every chance. McCain thinks an awful lot of him and comes up against old rival Keys from the Henderson camp. Now the selection was runner up to a horse from the same stable so they do have an angle on him but he was pulled out of the Cheltenham race last week to avoid meeting Prospect Wells and they ran All The Aces instead. That makes me think this one may need a run over hurdles and Cinders And Ashes can take him on this occasion.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December Hildivini 1325 sandown run just under a month ago,and came third beaten 28 lengths.the horse placed second that day five dream, went onto run in the long distance hurdle, and came second beaten by big bucks.hildivini was no doubt in need of the run last time ,it will not mind the ground as it seems to go on any going.today it should run a lot better today it has only been out of the fram once in six runs.felix de giles gets on well with this horse winning three times and being placed once the trainer is in great form so this looks primmed to run a big race 1pt win skybet 14/1

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December 5.50 Wolv - Regeneration - ew at 12/1 bog Ladbrokes Is unbeaten over this CD, 2 out of 2, and gets to run here off a lower mark than his last 2 wins Has had nearly a year off and this is his 4th run back. He hasn't pulled up any trees so far this season but drops in class today, has the first time visor, a good draw and plenty of pace to track He's gonna pop up at some point and it'll probably be at Wolves, so why not today ?

Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd December Aintree 14.10 Rare Bob @ 9/1 Bet >365 Rare Bob goes for Dessie Hughes who has an excellent record in this (2 x winners and 1 x 3rd from 3 runners), and looks to have solid claims with the ground easing. Outclassed in the JNWine last time behind Quito de la Roque, but has looked capable of winning off this mark in the past. Notably, behind Prince de Beauchene at Aintree in April on ground which was probably too quick for him. Back on softer ground, I think he's more than capable of taking this, even off 11-10. EW

NON RUNNER. 19:20 Wolverhampton Seek The Fair Land Win (4,50) VictorChandler Seek The Fair Land. got a decent polytrack record. He got most of his win, on this surface. He won his latest run, and is up 5lb for that. Seek The Fair Land are a former C&D winner but against worst company. He will need to ride his best but he showed, good form in his last couple of runs.
