  1. There's a 19K handicap at Leicester on Monday at 2.00 and it's got just 2 runners .........

    Current odds (bet365) are

    Win O Clock 4/9
    Buriran 7/4

I quite fancy the outsider of the two ....... well, he's only got one to beat !

This is a 12 furlong race on heavy ground. My horse has won over 14 furlongs and the odds on Fav has only won over 10 Furlongs. He's also 13lbs higher than his last handicap win and is a 3yo giving weight to an older horse.

My horse has De Sousa up ....... won on him last twice he's  been in the saddle and the Fav has a claimer (OK, a good one but still a claimer)

I can just see Sylvestre making the running knowing his horse will stay and running the legs off the younger horse

The favourite will undoubtedly be the better horse in time but in today's conditions I fancy the outsider !

Be interesting to see how the betting goes in the morning

This will do well .  Hope I haven’t cursed it

I just hope the two biggest priced ones win ...... I've had a good run with that recently

I generally put the favourites in as insurance unless I really don't fancy the favourite in which case I'll leave it out and pick two others at better prices

  3. Donny 1.30 - Beloved - 8/1 bet365 (EW)

    Another 2yo maiden

Trainer Ed Walker is another one like Balding who's runners usually come on for their debut but he had two first time out winners earlier in the week. Beloved is an expensive colt by Frankel and if Walker has his late season two years ready to bounce out first time he could be in the shake up at just about an EW price ...... drifting a bit at the moment so could get bigger

  4. Newb 1.10 - Wallem - 10/3 Skybet

Andrew Balding's runner is having his second run having been beaten a neck on debut on heavy ground at Leicester

Balding's horses usually come on a lot for their first runs and his experience of heavy ground could be invaluable .... at least we know he handles it which a few of the other's might not.

  5. Dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll is running on the Flat today at Navan 4.15 in a 14 furlong maiden

He's run before on the flat ...... just the once at Dundalk in 2016

It's a big day for 16 year old claimer Sam Erwin .........

The rider said: "When I saw that he was entered, I said to myself, 'Whoever gets the ride is going to be one lucky man'. Lo and behold, the lucky man is actually me! I can't believe it. He is one of the best horses ever and I'm getting a chance to ride him. It's unbelievable. He's our Red Rum.

"My agent Kevin [O'Ryan] texted me around ten o'clock on Tuesday morning and I just couldn't wait to ring my Mam and Dad to tell them. When you're just 16 you don't expect to be getting rides like that."

  6. Plump 3.40 - Gateway to Europe 5/2 bet365

This a novice handicap chase which is a bit risky because the runners haven't got a great deal of chase form in the book

My selection is having his second run over fences and his first in a handicap chase

He's won at the track over hurdles, distance and going look OK, he's won a handicap hurdle off 6lbs lower which suggests he's ok in this grade. Had a decent record over hurdles with 8 wins and places from 12 runs

His first run over fences looks good ........ he finished 2nd in a 3 runner race but both the other 2 won next time out. They are rated 138 and 147 so getting in a handicap off 123 might be a generous mark
