Fak 4.35 - Wings Attract - win at 4/1 bog wm hill
Handicap chase
My selection gets good ground for the first time since winning at Donny in November.
Looks ready for this step up in trip, gets the first time blinkers and the race he won at Donny was better than today.
Should put up a bold show !

Chelt 2.10 - Rolling Maul - EW at 50/1 bog betvictor
3 mile handicap hurdle
My selection is a relatively known quantity at 8 years old and having had 25 runs, however this race doesn't always go to the lightly raced unexposed types that most people look at for the top handicaps
He's a CD winner who's been novice chasing but didn't appear suited and has now reverted to hurdles
Doesn't look badly handicapped off 135 with a useful claimer taking 5 off.......he's won off 130 before
Obviously it's competitive but I think he might be running on up the hill. If he's in contention he can rally and run on gamely even if he drops back a bit and looks finished, the danger seems to be that if he gets too far behind he seems to give up, so hopefully he'll be racing prominently

3.05 Bangor - Over My Head - win at 10/1 bog bet365
3 mile handicap chase
My selection is currently the outsider of the field but I think he has a better chance than that !
Pulled up last time in desperate ground at Uttoxeter......but it must have been bad as only one of the nine runners finished, the other 8 all pulled up. Forget that run and he looks OK
Appears to be nicely handicapped judged on his only other chase, two pounds lower than when under 2 lengths 2nd at Huntingdon
Goes well fresh and has had a six weeks break since that Uttoxeter run

Sou 1.55 - Aegean Boy - ew at 25/1 bog betvictor
3yo maiden over 5f
My selection finished 4th over CD on his racecourse debut a couple of weeks ago.
Two of his rivals today finished in front of him but he appeared to show promise and looked inexperienced as thought he would come on a lot for the run, so I think there's a fair chance he can make up the ground
He's drawn quite high in 7 of 9 (oo er, Jeri Ryan......phwoar!)........but I haven't really noticed the low draw bias that we were following on the forum last year......and in any case the favourite is in 9 and one of the ones that beat him last time is in 8

Funny isn't it. Min's form in France is also average but both have improved an absolute ton since going to Ireland. The team over there have an incredible eye for a good horse.
I was hoping that Konig Dax was bought out of that race in France.......imagine the horror when they realised they'd bought the wrong one !...........
But unfortunately it was a good time afterwards that he changed hands
-
Good luck with the Pot BH !
There's one interesting runner today at Taunton in the handicap hurdle at 4.25
Konig Dax holds the honour of being the only horse to have beaten Douvan who will undoubtedly go off as the shortest priced favourite at the Festival
He beat him by 5 lengths no less on Douvan's racecourse debut in France in 2014. Since then he's only run once, trailing home well beaten at Catterick whilst Douvan has blazed a trail through all the top races in Britain and Ireland

Plump 4.45 - Head Spin - win at 7/2 bog wm hill
Low grade handicap chase over around 26F
All these come with risks as you'd expect with low grade chasers
My horse is on his last winning mark and has won at the track. Pulled Up last time after never travelling but has had a couple of months off since then
This shouldn't take much winning !

MR 3.55 - Explained - win at 10/3 bog bet365
Handicap chase over 19 and a it furlongs
My selection came back from 18 months off the track to finish 2nd at Ludlow last time in a similar level race to this. Is entitled to come on for that run and has had a six week break so hopefully no 'bounce'
If he returns near his best he's quite well handicapped being just 2lbs above his last winning mark, He's also lightly raced for his age with just 15 career starts. He started his career with a flourish, winning his first 2 bumpers then beating Shutthefrontdoor in his novice hurdle win before winning a class 3 novice handicap chase over todays CD
Bit of a worry that he was off the track for such a long time before his recent return
Don't really fancy the current favourite, Gallic Warrior. The 2nd Fav, Showboater, looks OK but he finished tired when beaten at odds on last time and might be due a longer break now
Main danger could be the outsider of the party, Chankillo, who has won on his last 2 visits to the track and comes off a two month break, very similar scenario to when he scooted home by 14 lengths here 2 runs ago

I think I did that Flying Angel EW at big odds when it was 3rd at Newbury recently but obviously I didn't stick with it !

3.35 Chep - Cloudy Beach - win at 9/4 bog bet365
Novices handicap chase over around 19F
Going to take on the current favourite here......Supreme Bob. He's won 2 of his last 3 races but both of them only by a neck and he's now 11lbs higher than for the first win. This is a better race and to date he's provan best on flat tracks so not sure how he'll find Chepstow. Heavy ground no problem and should be fine over this trip as he stays a bit further and testing conditions will suit
My selection has been running in better races and won 2 runs ago, making all at Fontwell. Acts on Heay and on undulating tracks. Flopped last time at Bangor when taken on for the lead but should get the lead no problem today and can bowl along in front.

4.35 Leic - Basford Ben - win at 3/1 bog wm hill
Handicap chase over 22 and a half furlongs
Only 3 runners left in now......small fields are the story of the day
We have a short price favourite who has won his last two races comfortably both at this track over a shorter trip. There's nothing really wrong with him......he should get the extra distance and even off 7lbs higher than last time he's still well in according to official figures as he's due to go up another 5lbs tomorrow. This is my slight concern......that they're running him today to take advantage of the weight rather than because this is an ideal race for him.
My selection is an out and out front runner who has form over further and his last 3 wins have been over 26F at carlisle. However he's finished 2nd 3 times running having made all but been caught. I'm thinking that in a small field he might get away from them and the shorter trip might suit if he's fading a bit towards the finish. He's obviously in decent nick and running off 5lbs lower than last win so he's on a decent mark
Give him a chance against the other two !

2.00 Carl - Captain Redbeard - win at 11/2 bog wm hill
handicap hurdle over around 20F
My selection won over this sort of trip 2 runs ago then appeared to find dropping back to the minimum against him last time. However it was still a good run to finish 4th behind a couple of progressive types. The winner and 3rd have gone in since and the 2nd has finished 2nd again so the form looks solid
As a dual Point winner he should be suited by the step up in trip and regular 3lb claimer gets back on again

Catt 2.30 - My Friend George - win at 13/8 sportingbet
Handicap chase over 19F
This race revolves around the current favourite, Roxyfet, who's going for a hat-trick, However just as with my selection yesterday I think it's worth taking on the current favourite and just like yesterday I expect my horse to go off as favourite by race time.
Roxyfet saves his best for Sedgefield and seems most effective at the minimum trip. Disappointed when favourite over today's CD in January and could be the same story today
My selection ran well over CD in a better race last time and drops in grade. He also tends to win at Sedgefield like the favourite but over the longer trip which suggests todays distance will suit him better.
-
4.20 Newc - De Vous a Moi - win at 2/1 bog bet365
Class 3 handicap chase over 20F
This race revolves around the current favourite, Caraline, who has been very progressive and won her last 4 races. She handicap hurdle off 74 and a handicap chase off 80 at the end of last year and races off 121 today. Given that she only won by a neck last time and has gone up another 8lb then there must be a chance that the handicapper has caught up with her. if she's carried on progreesing at the same rate she might have improved 8lbs since she was last seen a coule of months ago
My selection definitely looks to be OK in the weights having gone up just 3lbs for a 6 length win last time. He's had a good year with 3 wins and 2 seconds in is 5 runs since last February and still appears to be on the upgrade.
-
4.40 Ling - Strange bird - win at 9/1 bog Coral
Handicap chase
Lots of small fields today
Taking a chance on one of the outsiders here.........acts on heavy, on last winning mark, won on the track before and has had a break since Pulling Up the last twice when running over hurdles in class 3 and 4 races
Back to class 5 today and perhaps better off in low grade chases. Last such run was a 2nd in November last year
Both market leaders here might be better going right handed
-
Hunt 2.30 - Albatros de Guye - win at 7/4 bog wm hill
Won a CD handicap last time in similar conditions, beating today s main rival by 3 lengths
Now 3lbs worse off which should bring them together but the other horse finished tired and might not be able to gain the 3 lengths back even at revised weights
Is very inconsistant though otherwise would probably be odds on in this 4 runner race

Kemp 2.05 - Valhalla - ew at 25/1 bog wm hill
Novice hurdler
With Authorised Too a NR there's only 3 here in single figures in the market so going for one of the outsiders you need fingers crossed a bit that one or two of them underperform. A couple of them have penalties, a couple haven't run for 3/4 months, and a couple have RPR form that is only a couple of pounds better than my selection.........so there's a hope ! Plus of course there's the usual chaos and bad luck to figure in
My selection won a Point very impressively on good ground last September. Has shown promise in 2 hurdle runs but probably not suited by soft ground. Reappears now that the ground had got better and hopefully can fulfill some of his promise. Does look to be a bit of a stayer so it would help if they went quickly and he could be running on past tiring horses at the finish
