Can't seem to pick a winner over the Jumps so I think I'll leave that for another week or two and stick with the two year old races on the flat for a bit longer …… should still have plenty of 2yo races on the AW even when the Turf racing finishes

Going for one at Goodwood tomorrow in the novice auction race. Getting plenty of weight under the race conditions and ran OK last time for a yard who's horses tend to come on for racing. This is her 3rd outing.

Good 2.35 - Foxy Femme - £10 EW at 22/1 bog wm hill

    Non Runner

I'll go with an EW double instead

    Good 3.45 Alramz 11/1

Good 4.55 The Daley Express 12/1

this left me with 4 but 3 of them appear best on soft ground and it hasn't rained yet i

It's been raining solidly since the middle of the night ……  so watch out for Goodwood. Could be ruined by lots of non runners though the race I looked at seemed to have a few soft ground horses so maybe some trainers declared in the expectation of rain

  3. Looking at the sprint handicap at Goodwood and applying the same filters as I would for the big sprint handicaps in the 'Ttrends' thread

    age 4/5

    draw low to middle

    D win

this left me with 4 but 3 of them appear best on soft ground and it hasn't rained yet in the south east, though I guess it might do tomorrow

Anyway the one remaining is also a CD winner which I like …… and an EW price !

Good 4.55 - The Daley Express ew 14/1 wm hill

    Chep 3.35 - Poetic Rhythm - £20 win at 10/3

Back in the 80s this was always the first Jumps meeting to be televised each season and was a sign that the jumpers were getting going

A few decent races on the card and my horse runs in the Listed novice chase. He has the form in the book having win Grade 2, and Grade 1 novice hurdles last season and he's won twice at Chepstow (a tricky track ?). He seems to be at his best in the fist few months of the season then tails off after Christmas so this could be a good time to catch him

Paul Nicholls runner, Master Tommytucker, is favourite but his runners haven't been winning first time out so far …. they nearly all finish 2nd

Classy win but i'm not sure if the Newmarket form will be that genuine with the wind gusting into their faces. Sergio Prokofiev was shielded and then made a run for it as they entered the dip. It was very impressive and a very good ride in my opinion. Hopefully he will stay at sprint distances next year or will he go to the States??

    :ok

Not sure what they'll do with him … don't really associate Ballydoyle with sprinters.

I wonder if they'll try him in a Guineas trial and if he doesn't stay have a season sprinting then off to stud if he's successful

I suppose Caravaggio from a year or two ago would be the template although he was probably a much better horse (well on what we've seen so far)

  7. Anyone see the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket ?

What a brilliant win by Sergei Prokofiev …… not so much that he won as he was favourite but the way the race developed

Basically he got trapped behind the whole field as they drifted over to the rail ….. with about two fulongs to go

The way he got out and ran through the whole pack was tremendous.

3.50 Bang - Global Jackpot - £20 to win at Evens

Gordon Elliott seems to have lots of runners at Bangor, Some of them don't appear to have a big chance and you wonder why he bothers bringing them over unless it's just the fact there isn't a lot of racing in Ireland and he has a big string so needs to get races into them

This one looks like it's got a favourites chance

  9. Had a real good bit of luck today courtesy of Rule 4

I've not had a bet on a horse since August but with no football I decided to have a go

I went for the 3 horse race with one of them a massive no hoper at Stratford. The favourite was slight odds on and I went for the second favourite which was Evens in what was effectively a two horse race. The favourite was a non runner and I had a 50p rule 4. But my horse went off at 1/25 SP…….. with the R4 I had it at 1/2

Won easily …….. what a result!

Good old Rule 4 ………. :drums

Sticking with the jumpers. Taking a view against the current front two in the market in my first race.

    Kelso 2.50 - Nendrum 7/2 and Chookie Royale 9/2

Kelso 4.25 - Simply Ned 3/1 and Vosne Romanee 3/1

Good to see the veteran Chookie Royale having a second lease of life over sticks ……. I had a few good wins on him when I was following the AW five or six years ago

    forgot the bet !

    4 x £5 cross doubles
