Looking at the Listed race at Ponty today and going to oppose the Johnston favourite,. She's won a Listed race in Germany and finished 2nd in the Zetland at Newmarket ….. so she has the best form. But she's also run 7 times and I'm going for a couple of the more lightly raced ones who might be improving.
Ponty 3.30
Manuela de Vega 9/4
Three Comets 9/4
£10 win on each
Yeah ……. 1st and 2bd
first win on the thread for ages ...
return 32.50, profit 12.50, bank 680.19

Having a poor run on the thread at the moment so I'm going to try something different which hopefully will provide a better strike at the expense of a lower return but fewer losers ! Betting two horses in a race …… as long as they're both odds against you win if either of them win
4.55 Sedge
10 to win on Sonic at 11/8
10 to win on Spectator at 3/1
It's a good 'shape' race for betting two horses because only three are fancied and I'm taking a view that Iolani won't win being 2 grades up in class and 10lbs up in the weights since his last time out victory
Obviously backing two horses you're never going to win big because of them will always lose but you hope for a good strike rate and that the bigger priced ones win sometimes !

well done BH …….. the thread keeps turning up the winners !

I've noticed that Racing UK on Virgin Cable has become Racing UK HD
I think this has only just happened as I hadn't noticed it before.

Bookies running scared of a Gosden 4 timer in the Champions Day races at Ascot
Here's the hotpots - with current best price
1.25 Stradivarius 10/11
2.40 La Ti Dah 11/8
3.15 Roaring Lion 9/4
3.50 Cracksman 5/6
Surely all 4 won't win ……. or will they ?
Stradivarius has had a hard season
La Ti Dah untried on soft ground (but it might be drying out)
Roaring Lion down in trip and has been beaten his last 3 runs at a mile
Cracksman hasn't quite looked the same horse this season
I think maybe Roaring Lion might be the weak link !
By the way I notice that the Racing Post race previewer is tipping Broadway EW at 100/1 in the Fillies race at 2.40 ……….

1.50 Catt - Perfect Swiss - ew at 33/1 bog Corals

3.30 Catt
Dog leg track so I think the low draws definitely have an advantage
gone
low draw 1 to 7 (half way)
aged 4 or 5
CD winner
Just the one horse left -
Storm Over EW at 12/1
-
Ascot 4.30
Another tricky one !
I've taken a view on the draw as my memory is that straight mile races at Ascot usually get won by the far rail which would be the low drawn side.
So I've gone
low draw 1 to 10, aged 4 or 5, Distance winner ………. and I'm only left with one horse
Waarif EW at 33/1
-
Eintracht Frankfurt at 1.72
Lincoln at 1.57
Peterhead at 1.25
20 point treble please

Cheers BH …… that is very interesting,
Especially Captain Lars ….. 7 runs, never been placed, and he's 2nd Favourite !
My selection is Drakefell - EW 9/1
Handicap debut, well drawn, Hannon runner - I always think of the Hannons as doing well at Kempton.

Had a look at the 7f handicaps at Musselburgh. I like 7f races because it's a bit of a specialist trip. With it being a dog leg track the lower draws have advantage …… so I've looked for lower drawn horses that have won over 7f and discounted the older more exposed types ……… and have plumped for -
Muss 2.20 - Smugglers Creek 8/1
Muss 2.50 - Supauletter 8/1
£10 EW double
-
Noticed something a bit unusual...….
Looking at the 6.15 at Kempton - a decent class 3 all aged sprint handicap with 10 runners aged between 3 and 9
None of them have won at the track before !
Given that these sprint handicappers run pretty regularly around the AW circuit I expect that's pretty unusual !

Well done to all the prize winners ………. some tremendous totals …………
thanks to BH for the top admin job keeping it all going …….
good luck everyone for the next 'season'
