Zubizareta
Re: Club Friendlies > Thursday 21st July I too like the look of Aston Villa, Walsall played against Wolve on Tuesday night and are about to play again tonight this will prove to be a game too soon for their players as far as recovery is concerned. On the other hand Rio Ave are not 2nd tier club, maybe in the contex of size of clubs in portugal yeah but they do play in top division in portugal. If Porto take this game serious than they should win by 2-3 goals to 1.

Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Thursday 21st July Villa should be making plenty of changes tonight. Probably as many as the referee allows, but I also agree they should really beat Walsall. Walsall did however play very very well versus Wolves, managing to equalise twice before succumbing. As this is Villa's first game back, and the fact they are set to make lots of changes throughout the game, it's a no bet for me. GL anyone that takes them :ok

Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Friday 21st July Think I'll have a little bit on Crawley double chance @ 1.55 - BET365 tonight. I get the impression confidence is fairly high at Crawley going into the new season, with a fairly decent squad size that should comfortably see them to promotion from League Two. Both these sides could potentially be facing each-other in the league the season after this, and I think that in terms of playing ability they aren't too far apart. However, I think the straight win odds have been set accordingly to compensate for the Crawley factor. Because of that I'm not really hugely confident they'll get the win. But, I am happy to say I think there's value in opposing Palace tonight. Crawley outplayed more than one league side last season in the cup, while still a non league side, so I can see this being a fairly close game that Crawley will take a lot of positives from. Pre season they've been bang on form (albeit against lower placed opposition), beating East Grinstead 8-1 and a Chelsea XI 6-1. Even so, it demonstrates the striking ability currently at the club, and should prove the confidence that resides at Crawley right now. The same night Crawley beat East Grinstead, their squad was split, with the second half featuring in a 3-1 over Basingstoke. Tonight, Crawley have named a 16 man squad party, so they are at full strength. Palace should be at full strength also, but with a 0-0 at Wycombe their last result, they will have to up performance levels considerably. Against a Crawley side high on confidence, that is a big ask.
Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Friday 21st July Brentford + 0.5 @ 2.07 - BET365 / Alternative - Brentford double chance @ 2.15 - Hills. Going to oppose Stoke tonight as they have two friendlies over the weekend. One tonight away to Brentford, and one tomorrow away to Aldershot. Stoke have been putting out their strongest side possible against a few non league sides and predictably brushing them aside with relative ease. Due to the fact they face two friendlies in quick succession, I'd expect many changes, and for all the squad to gain valuable game time. Brentford should be at full strength tonight also, and this should be a good test for a slightly new look Bees side as they go into the new season with optimism. They too have brushed a couple of non league sides away pre season 6-1 and 10-0. Jonathan Woodgate should be making his debut tonight, if not tonight, it will definitely happen tomorrow. Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Friday 21st July Don't really want to get involved in anything else. Was quite surprised to see Huddersfield at a best priced 1.83 versus Fleetwood Town, which could be value as Huddersfield have been winning games fairly comfortably pre season. Fleetwood should still be a decent non league test though, so I think this could be a 2-0 Huddersfield win, just as easily as it could end 1-1. Ipswich will be looking for a vast improvement tonight at Roots Hall when facing a Southend side in transition. Their recent 2-2 draw with non leaque Cambridge United was littered with mistakes. Southend should be spearheaded tonight by Neil Harris, his experience coupled with the way Ipswich are flattering to deceive right now means it's a tough one for me. They also stuttered to a late 3-2 win over Bury this week too. Both to score @ 1.67 - Hills may appeal, as we can tell conceding goals has been a problem pre season for Town. Actually, the price on Ipswich is rising, which may be because of their recent pre-season form, or any other uknown element :unsure If it continues to rise, currently 2.37, they may be worth backing as they do have goals in them. Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Friday 21st July I lied :$ Morecambe + 0.5 @ 1.82 - BET365 appeals. Moredcambe are unbeaten this pre season so far, with a recent 2-1 win over Carlisle their latest impressive pre season performance. Also earning credible draws with Raith Rovers and Blackburn. Certainly against Blackburn they demonstrated a fair amount of resilience in weathering an early storm before taking the lead and maintained that advantage for a significant amount of time. Since taking over at Globe Arena manager Jim Bentley has set about re-shaping Morecambe. Making five new signings in the close season. Derby are set to give a core group of players at least an hour run out, but they also have several injuries to contend with that may limit them slightly. I think as well reading between the lines they will probably look to make changes in the second half. Derby struggled to deal with Macclesfield on Tuesday, drawing 2-2. I think it'll be a tough night for Derby, so I see value in opposing them.

Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Saturday 22nd July First up today...... Olhanense V Brighton UNDER 2.5 goals @ 1.9 - BET365. Quite a bit of value here, and I'm quite surprised the bookies favourite Olhanense so much. They may play in the top Portugese league, but Brighton could subjectively be considered their equal. The Portugese PremieraLiga isn't a particularly strong league from top to bottom, and I wouldn't consider Olhanense as that much better than Brighton. This is probably a hard market to price up as there isn't at first glance a lot to go on. But, Olhanense are statisticly an unders side, only scoring 24 goals in 30 league games last season as well. They lost 1-0 away to 2nd tier Belenenses on Wednesday. Brighton put in a very good performance against PSG midweek and only went down 1-0. I think this game will be a lot closer than the odds suggest, and back the unders here because of the way Olhanense set themselves up. Can't find Brighton + 0.5 yet, but the Brighton Double Chance is set @ 1.66 - BET365. That's worth taking IMO.
ultravires
Re: Club Friendlies > Saturday 22nd July Just trying to look into the matches involving Italian sides. Parma are playing against a promoted Bulgarian side. I can't find information regarding their pre-season thus far as their site is down. Parma have played 3 matches already (7-0 vs. Levico Terme, and 0-0 vs. Slavia Prague) I can only find info on 2 matches. I'd say Parma are clearly the stronger side but at 1.36 I'd like to know a little more about Bulgarian football in general. I have my impressions of a newly promoted top-tier side, but they may not be fair. Parma stream their matches so I think I'll watch and see how they come out. They were flat against Slavia Prague, but I imagine they'd be a bit better than these Bulgarians. Lazio are playing Slavia Prague today. Their results so far (4-0 win vs. Lucerne, 8-0 vs. Piervigina, Auronzo 16-0. There are doubts over Lulic, Konko and Radu who have trained separately. From what I see Slavia have played a couple of B team friendlies and then drew 2-2 vs. Bayern U23 and 0-0 vs. Parma most recently. They weren't impressive against Parma but the match as a whole was shite. I haven't watched Lazio yet but they seem quite sharp testing out various players in their 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-1-2 formations. I'd quite like Lazio in this match but 1.53 seems slim once again. Once again one that is one i'll watch and perhaps go in on in-play. Marseille Udinese should be a nice match but I haven't looked into it yet. Juventus also play Sporting Lisbon tonight in USA. I'd welcome any info/opinion on the Bulgarian/Czech sides. Jase82
Re: Club Friendlies > Saturday 22nd July Happy to take West Ham @ 1.83 - Hills to beat Wycombe today. Considering West Ham are putting out a very strong squad, and the fact Wycombe are still a League One (League Two only last season) side I was surprised to see this price available. Should really be about 1.4. If this was a cup contest it would be about 1.36'ish. With less pressure here, 1.83 is outstanding value IMO. West Ham have been away on the continent facing much tougher opposition, losing twice and winning once, recently against Copenhagen. Wycombe drew 0-0 with Palace in their first pre season home fixture. Could easily have been a Palace win by all accounts, as Jermaine Easter had a goal disallowed. The possible difference may be Gareth Ainsworth, as he is easily their most creative player. But, either way, I'm happy to take West Ham. garyfinny
Re: Club Friendlies > Saturday 22nd July Sweet win man. I laid Barcelona earlier today (1.3) - I reckon there is a huge amount of betting going on their name - most of their big stars are missing from this one, and out of the 24 man squad, 14 are from Barcelona B, which is almost a seperate team, which play in a separate division, and fringe Barcelona players. In fact I reckon the starting line-up will consist of no more than a couple of regulars. Hadjuk are good at home - their record last season was 10-3-2 - if this was a European match, I think a full strength Barcelona side would still be 1.3 or above. As well, this is the first pre-season game for Barca, with Hadjuk already completed proceedings. Given this is a friendly, I reckon the price should be around the 1.6+ region, considering the players involved. Difficult to make an accurate assessment of the B players but I think it'll be closer than the odds suggest particularly if there are a lot of changes.
