Time for a Nap

Re: Time for a Nap 145 Aintree: Dusky Warbler 5pts ew @ 12/1 Stan James Has proved a better horse with the application of cheekpieces and ran a storming race at Sandown 2 races ago, to confirm his welbeing with them on. Slightly unlucky at Cheltenham when he nearly lost his rider halfway through the race. Needs a career best to win here as he is now running off a mark of 140 but he remains unexposed with the cheekpieces on, the rain is in his favour and I think is worth a bet at 12/1.

Re: Time for a Nap 300 Kelso - Snowy 5pts ew @ 3/1 Stan James (NAP) Very much a course specialist at Kelso, From 5 runs here he has won twice over hurdles and again over fences in October. The other 2 occasions he finished 2nd and then 4th , when the soft conditions were against him. He hasnt run since December, but i dont think this will hinder him too much as last time he won here he hadnt run for 4 months either, so maybe he is best fresh. 310 Worcester Mikado 5 pts ew @ 9/2 totesport Ran to a decent level on the flat and took to hurdling ok, winning at Uttoxeter ovr 2m. In that race and the one after, over 2m 1f, the racing post commented he would be suited by a stiffer test of stamina, hence the step up to 3m on his last 2 runs. He has finished nearer to last than 1st on both occassions but it is worth noting that those were high class races. (Grade 2 and Grade 1 at the Cheltenham Festival). Today he is running at a more realistic level and has McCoy on board which must be a bonus.

Re: Time for a Nap Windsor 400 - DEVON FLAME: 5pts ew @ SP Devon Flame is one of those horses with a distinct pattern to his form. His ideal conditions are: Running over sprint distances (5f & 6f) Going must be good or better He likes big fields best (14+ runners approx) He is best running at a lower level. If we combine the above variables (lower level being grade 4/C or below), his form reads: 1112120 The 0 was in an apprentice jockeys race on this track where he was poorly drawn. The racing post suggests that he is more a 6f horse but i think 5f suits him fine. He has won over that distance before and the other attempts over that distance, have been on soft ground, which can be offered as a valid excuse. Tissue price is 7/1 in the RP :ok

Re: Time for a Nap 450 Kempton: Stoneacre Boy - 5pts ew @ SP (NAP) Up in class here but there is still a chance he is ahead of the handicapper, with the blinkers applied. he has come on an absolute bundle with the blinkers on and the runner up in his last race has franked the form by winning since. 525 Kempton - Cold Turkey 5pts ew @ 10/3 Stan James Won this race last year and again looks in form, having won last time out Im also betting the above 2 selections 2.50pt ew double @ SP Cheers AK

Re: Time for a Nap 350 Musselburgh: Kristensen 5pts ew @ 18/1 stan james A speculative bet here but Kristensen has conditions in his favour today, with the ground firming up. The favourites trainer concedes that he is a better horse on softish ground so he can be opposed here. Down in trip to his optimum distance and off a mark of only 71 (he was running off 80 last year in decent company) i think he is a good each way bet.

Re: Time for a Nap 400 Redcar - Blue Trojan 5pts ew @ 8/1 Sporting odds I like backing these horses that have shown a sign of returning back to form off a much lower mark than when last successful. Blue Trojan was contesting good races 2 seasons ago, and having skimmed through the form on the RP website, running with credit on more than one occassion. He peaked at a mark of 90, which appeared too high for him. Last season was an average one and pretty uninspiring to be honest. It's his seasonal reapearance that makes me want to bet him here though. Finishing 3rd, despite showing that he needed the run, i expect him to be fitter here and take advantage of the favourable conditions he encounters.

Re: Time for a Nap 355 Beverley - Loaderfun 5pts ew @ (price to be advised) A high draw is crucial at Beverley and the advantage is accentuated if a horse can race prominently. Loaderfun has the best of the draw and has run his best races running at the fore. His win came when he made all. I'm hoping he can do that today, down in class and down a couple of pounds in the handicap. He has a good apprentice on board, whose last 2 runs for the stable have resulted in 2 wins. He takes off a further 3 pounds, which must be a bonus. The stable has started the season well, which negates the concern i have about the horses long absence. He has run well fresh previously too. :ok An excellent each way bet at a very attractive price.

Re: Time for a Nap finished 12th of 13!! Ive jsut seen on the RP website that the going changed to good/soft, which would have put me off a bit to be honest...I doubt he would have won though Bets: 16 Wins: 7 Strike Rate: 44% P/L: +25 pts

Re: Time for a Nap 315 Newbury: If Paradise 5pts ew @ 9/1 Stan James (NAP) Twice a course and distance winner, he won this race last year off the same mark and has a decent apprentice on board today, taking off a further 3lb's. His form suggests he has been aimed at this race again. No probs if the going turns soft and ran a god race behind the improving Reverence last tiem out, beaten 3 lengths. 410 Thirsk - Billy One Punch - 5pts ew @ 25/1 totesport Bowles has highlighted the reasons for this bet in his thread so i wont go into too much detail. Basically, its off the back of comments his trainer made in the RFO this week. Im suprised to see him trading at this big price. Unfortunately, there are only 15 runners now so we will only get the 1st 3 places for each way purposes. You can bet with Betfair to get paid on the 1st 4 placings but you will have to take a skinnier price - pros & cons etc!

Re: Time for a Nap 240 Newbury: Another Bottle 5pts ew @ SP (BET365 pay 1st 5 home so use these) If we filter this ones form down to races over 1 mile, we are left with: 3,1,3,1,2,1,10 The 10th place was on soft ground, unfavourable to the horse and not around today. He has run twice at Newbury and won twice, which is another positive. 4 of the last 5 winners of this race have been drawn high, near the far rail. With Another Bottle in stall 22 today he can put this to his advantage. He has been in a similar situation last time out here when drawn 18 of 18 to win well. Looks to have conditions in his favour in an admittedly open race.

Re: Time for a Nap 2 against the field for te 310 at Pontefract today, and im opposing my notebook horse "Commando Scott", which could well backfire on me, but i cant see any value there with the ground probably against him. SAN ANTONIO: 2.50pts ew @ 11/1 Bet Direct Ultra consistent without winning. If this race was over his usual trip of 7f or 1m, i would probably be avoiding him but the drop to 6f interests me. He has run only once over the trip, finishing a close 2nd to Fromsong, beaten only 3/4 of a length. If you consider that Fromsong has since gone up in the ratings a massive 20lb's, it is apparent that Fromsong was well treated at that time. I think there is a chance that San Antonio could be unexposed over 6f and on a course he has won 3 times over previously can go close. ZOMERLUST: 2.50 pts ew @ 25/1 VC Bet This one quite simply looks well treated to me and the drop to 6f should be ideal. His best form comes on soft but i feel he has shown enough on the good ground to be worth an interest, especially at 25/1. it was his penultimate run at Newmarket which caught the eye, running well from a bad draw, off a 1lb higher mark. This race looks weaker.
