Tuesdays Festival Bets

Recommended Posts

There's 3 that interest me tomorrow 2.35 Racing Demon - 5/1 He has looked top drawer to me on available evidence and I feel he can win this and go onto greater things. He ran a good race at the Festival last year in the RSA Novices hurdle over a trip, that in hindsight was probably too far for him. 2 miles tomorrow is sure to suit. His form looks top class. He easily beat Cornish Sett last time out (15 lengths), who has since gone on to frank the form at Newbury. Hoo La Baloo is another of his victims who has franked the form in recent weeks. A concern for many is that he has been wrapped in cotton wool in preparation for this. Henrietta Knight used to give Best Mate similar treatment and it didnt do him too much harm so im happy to ignore that. I think this could be a class horse in the making. 2.35 - Tamarinbleu - 22/1 Pipes record in this race is exceptional. From his last 10 runners he has had 4 winners and 2 runner up's. Whilst Don't be shy is seemingly his first string here, 5 year olds have historically had to be special horses to win this. Well Chief being a good example. Others may disagree but I'm not convinced Dont be shy is in this class and in any case would want soft ground i think. On the contrary, the ground is coming good for Tamarinbleu and on a line through Accorion Etoile, his price is far far too big. On Tam's chasing debut, he ran AE to a short head. Open to further improvement, im struggling to see why he is a 3-4 times bigger price than that rival now? 3.15 - Arcalis 13/2 Won the Supreme Novices hurdle last year on Good Ground which gives us peace of mind that Course and ground will suit him tomorrow. The change in ground conditions today makes him a major player in my eyes and i think he can keep up the 6 year olds impressive record in this race. His last run was a concern but it was run in desperate conditions and i think we can ignore it. I think on a sounder surface he will prove to have more pace than Brave Inca in the final straight and snatch it. On a softer surface i would have to favour the favourite though. I cant have Hardy on his last run, with no real excuse being offered. His age group have a poor record in the race too. Mac's Joy looks held by Brave Inca on recent form and the favourite is proven on the course. Mac's Joy perhaps isnt yet.

ReasoningGood value for this horse now the ground has dried up. Sound race in the Champion Hurdle last year to show he can go with any pace and has jumped well in his Chases this term. Up against it last time against Central House, this will be more to his liking.

ReasoningSaw this horse run at Leicester last time out, hadnt run for a year prior to that and came to lead two out before tiring, had Rubberdubber behind who has won since. Although 12 yrs old, till retains ability and gets in here off a light weight, ground has come right too! 50/1 is too big win or lose, so a small EW is a value bet.

Re: Tuesdays Festival Bets Acordian Etoile holds Racing Demon via a collateral formline with Chilling Place. But I will concede that Racing Demon may be the slow maturing type. For me the close proximity of A E in last year Champion hurdles is the clincher. N.B. Foreman finished further behind the previous season. I also like the fact that A E stood up well against more experience rivals in conditions that did not favour him. He also holds Missed That with another collateral formline. I will not bet until I've timed the first race tomorro to decide on what the going is!!! Macs Joy obviously been trained this season with this race as the only objective. Each run been better then the previous and it noted that last season Macs Joy defeated Brave Inca a couple of times. Good Step is a specialist X-country horse who goes well here and is well handicapped. To be ideal a softer surface would be of more assistance. But it should be noted that this horse is yet to race on ground faster then GS so if it drifts too much may still equate to value if the going is fast tomorro.

Re: Tuesdays Festival Bets As usual hard as always. Narrowed it down to these. Supreme Novice Hurdle - Fav. could be a world beater but seems too short for me so I'll split stakes on O'Muircheartaigh & Rasharrow. Arkle - What a race not sure Accordion Etoile or Voy Por Ustedes.:unsure Loads with chances. Champion Hurdle - Brave Inca for me, hopefully see McCoy driving this up the hill when the others have had enough. Will Hill Hcap Chase - Think the Fav. is a bit too short in this sort of h'cap gonna go for No Half Session at at least double his price. Europa is also a massive 90/1 on Betfair. Fred Winter Juv Hurdle - Like the look of Royals Darling may have a saver on that, but think I'll back Alan King's Mystery Lot. Gotta try to leave some money at home for the next 3 days. Can't bloody wait. Best of luck to everyone. Khartoum.

ReasoningBig big price. Been placed in decent handicaps off 127 before, and had over a year off the course before coming back and running very well over 3 miles with 11-12...can claim a place here without doubt.

Re: Tuesdays Festival Bets Actually came on here to say that the Arkle has to be one of the best racecards I've ever seen... Accordion Etoile, Racing Demon, Voy Pur Ustedes, Don't Be Shy, Wild Passion, Mid Dancer, Monet's Garden, Missed That, Foreman with lively outsiders Tamarinbleu and Arteea (who any other day would be about a third of their prices). Pick the bones out of that :eek :eek Potentially, a horse could run a blinder here and still finish 5th - this is what Cheltenham is all about. :clap

Re: Tuesdays Festival Bets Cracking days racing to get it all going! Supreme Novices - Masafi (ew) Arkle - Racing Demon - bet of the meet for me. Champion Hurdle - Brave Inca Billy Hills Handicap - Alderburn but having been speaking to Jeffers while playing poker I'll be having a few quid ew on Desailly too! Cross Country - Native Jack Finale - Clear Riposte. Good luck to all.

ReasoningThis is probably the most competitive race I've ever seen - any one of at least ten can win this race IMO. Pipe has a good record in this race, having won the last two, and also in 97 and 98. Runs well fresh (going off a two month break here) and ran Accordion Etoile very close earlier this season (and that horse is less than half the price of Tamarinbleu). A definate place claim here.

Re: Tuesdays Festival Bets Have taken Tamarinbleu at 34 with Betfair. This price is a bit too large now. I still can't find any real holes in A E form. Beat Watson Lake on ground which favoured Watson Lake. This horse finished 4th in the Arkle last season. To me it still remains the best hurdler, but bred to be a steepelchaser Actually examining the form I'm pretty certain it will go well on good to soft. If he does flops(unplaced) then the opposition must be very hot here, and they well may me!!!:hope

Re: Tuesdays Festival Bets 2.00 Cheltenham - Buena Vista - e/w @ 18/1 willhill Another for whom the ground has come up trumps. That, coupled with the turnaround in weights should give him a good chance of turning the tables with the fancied Noland. I cant have the favouritwe Sweet Wake at the prices available, on ground he hasnt encountered before.

Ak, i think it stands an excellent chance especially going off level weights with these rivals now. Ive backed it also.

ReasoningWith the rain coming, this can only aid his cause. Finished 3rd here in December and got a pretty good record in cross country events bar one exception. Had many of todays contenders behind him in Decembers and IMO been targeted at this race for a long time. Since that race been competing in races over much shorter distance but been staying on nicely in these races. If kept within striking distance here will be very difficult to beat from the turn on to the racecourse proper.
