StevieDay1983 Posted January 25, 2020 Author Share Posted January 25, 2020 PSV vs FC Twente The Dutch Eredivisie threw up a few possible options for value this weekend but the one I have settled on in the rather one-sided clash in the eye of the bookies between European-chasing PSV and struggling FC Twente in a 3:45pm GMT kick-off at the Philips Stadion. The odds and ELO ratings heavily favour the home side but is it as clear cut as the statistics suggest? PSV have long been one of the main challengers to the throne of Ajax but this season they are falling well behind the pace. Ernest Faber replaced Mark van Bommel in the middle of December but with just two games having been played since his appointment the jury is still out on the impact his arrival has had. The 4-1 home win against PEC Zwolle was impressive but expected where as the 1-1 draw away to VVV-Venlo was a little disappointing. It means the club is in 5th place and 12 points off the pace of league leaders Ajax. FC Twente come into this game in 13th place with the spectre of a relegation dogfight hanging over their shoulder. Gonzalo Garcia's men are just 3 points clear of the relegation zone. It's now 5 games across all competitions without a win and unless they chalk a win up on the board soon it is a rot that could set in. The club only has 2 wins from their 9 away league games this season so this might not be the game where that victory comes. I'm going to back a strong win for PSV here. The bookies are well behind it and the ELO ratings also show how well the hosts have been performing at home recently with three wins on the bounce in the league on home turf. FC Twente are at serious risk of letting this bad spell of form suck them into the relegation zone and this will be a game they'll be fearing in their current form.
