Bordeaux vs Angers

One of the more understated ties here for this week's Ligue 1 preview match. However, I feel there is decent value here given the odds being offered on a home win. I've bet against Angers a few times this season and they never let me down with their level of poor performance. Apologies to any Angers fans out there! This might be different though as the season draws to a close and results become a little bit less predictable.

Bordeaux are realistically already playing for nothing. In 9th place on 36 points, they are 15 points behind the European spots and 8 points clear of the relegation spots with just 10 games left to play. That said, Gus Poyet will be looking to use the remainder of this season to evaluate his squad and decide which areas will need improving over the summer having only been appointed in January. He will also be keen to make survival a formality as soon as possible.

Angers will also be determined to seal their involvement in Ligue 1 for a fourth consecutive season. Stephane Moulin's team are placed in 14th position but only 3 points above the relegation zone. Failure to win here could contribute to a very nervous end to the season.

Form is the zinger here. Bordeaux have failed to win in their last three Ligue 1 games. Angers have now won back-to-back league games. Can they make it three in a row? I'm not sure. The relegation battle always has many twists and turns every season. I think pressure might play a part here. Will it be too much for Angers? They have only lost 5 of their 14 matches on the road though so a draw is more than feasible. Maybe Bordeaux simply won't match the motivation of the away side?
