Like i said, isn't up to the contributors to decide what they want and where they want it? I understand the point you make but thought that an alternative where new bad beaters might like to start talking about it without the ongoing chat that has evolved. The chat is good fun but might make newbies feel like they are interupting. As for taking it personally, perhaps just locking it and asking why we need a new thread sort of defeats the object doesn't it? I'm guessing that danno would have ended up monopolising it anyway and given us a bit of a laugh. The only time he has any luck at all is when Mrs danno plays for him.:rollin But I do agree with the duplicate threads. Danno. Gaf? made the decision to unsticky a long standing "If you are all playing now..." thread, which was used by any who were 'pottering about' playing ring games and STT's. This became some what superfluous(sp) when Gaf? started posting the Daily Poker thread. However strangely enough the old thread was overlooked by a lot of new members until it was un-stickied, and for a time we had 2 lots of people posting "I'm here" at the same time in two different places. Had it been locked I suppose it would have saved some confusion. and if you want staffy to take something personally you'll have to think long and hard. The guy has thicker skin than a rhino. But something I discovered pretty quickly about poker is that nobody cares about other people's bad beats. I'm a bit of a whinger myself, less so than I was, but I still am, it's something I fight with myself about. However, whenever I'm bitching about a suckout etc to other people, theres another part of my brain that's aware that a. they don't care b. I'm whining. I guess the reason for this is that, in the long term, there is no luck in poker. And I'm not suggesting the original bad beat thread should be removed, it's good that it's there for catharthis etc, nor am I suggesting that bad beats shouldn't be mentioned at all elsewhere, they can be pertinent, like in a tourney everyones playing together for example. But I think the main reason for having a dedicated thread is that it keeps the bitching out of other threads. Like I said, I do it myself, but really there's no merit in it. Talking about hands I misplayed etc is way way more useful - and I don't think there'll ever be a time when I'm not donkeying hands, so there won't be a time when I don't have hands to talk about that are way more useful to talk about. One thread is more than sufficient for this kind of non-subject IMO, and have to support Staffy in his decision to lock the new thread. I just thought that the amount of posts and that there was alot of chit chat and pally pally talk might put off newbies...... just thinking about them really. I am so thoughtful and kind and caring and considerate you see. Sometimes I purposely lose on a a to a 7 2o if someone is short stacked to help them out a bit. I have to claim afterwards that it is a bad beat so I don't lose face to everyone. It is a shame that now that I have had a thread booted out that I feel nervous and shy about starting " I have loads of cash..... who wants £1000 for nothing?" thread. Oh well. I really doubt that anyone in this forum has taken a dislike to you, I know I haven't, and certainly if anyone has it'll be transient. I've been made to feel 100% welcome on this forum despite my incessant idiotic ramblings, and if they can put up with me so amicably, then they could put up with anyone! It's a really good bunch of people here, which is rare in any online community, but doubly rare in the world of Poker - which for some reason I could never figure out, is populated outside of these walls by an unusually high percentage of, to put it bluntly, bastards. I truthfully don't have a bad word to say about a single person who posts here, and I'm sure if you hang about a bit longer you'll be made to feel equally welcome. He needs at least 2 specific cards AT LEAST, or in this case he had to get 2 jacks or 4 runners to give him the straight, but it does batter me a lot! my account on SO was right down and I was on tilt after that kind of nonsense 5 times today and went into a big money tourney, 5 handed..... managed to hang on and win! only a little bit down now! Come and have a moan here I was in the WSOP this year playing in one of the $2000.00 NL events when I was busted out on a bad beat. Here is how it went. I was on the button and everyone folded to me. I was holding ???&???? \\\\&\\\\\ , so I raised 4x the BB. The SB folded and the BB called. The flop came ^^^^^&^^^^ //////&/// |||||&|||| and the BB bet just under the size of the pot. I put him on an overpair or semi-bluffing a flush draw. The flush draw being what I was really thinking he had with two high hearts. Anyway, I smoothed called the bet with my quads. The turn came %^ and the BB went all in putting me all in because he had me covered by about 2k chips, but that was ok at that time, I had him on the flush and that was the card I wanted to see. So I of course called and the BB turned over !"- £$ and I flipped over my quads. Just as I was recounting the pot in my head and the BB was moaning and groaning, the river hit &* !!! I couldn't believe it, but I shook his hand, said nice hand and walked away with my dignity. I had my money in with the best possible hand and although it was a bad beat in the end, the best hand going in won the hand so I guess you can call it justice. Either way it hurt pretty bad. I got this theory about bigger stack always beating smaller stack (especially in freerolls. Sorry guys , I know I was on about it long time ago, but I will never change my mind. Today in booster at BS guy with 4.5k rases 1k (first 10 minutes of tourney), I have 1.5k and call him with JJ. Flop J 8 4. I call his all in. He shows KK. No you didnt guess, he caught 4 diamonds to his K :lol. Yesterday, in booster I saw something better. This guy, in first hand all in wins with Q3. Then he wins next 5 hands (up to 12k), beating in those hands KK, QQ, AK, with his hands where the highest card was J. Whats bad beat? :lol They dont exist.
