5.45 Wolverhampton

Street Force won last time out fresh back from a break, didnt have a lot to spare that day and a 2lb rise looks tough to overcome especially with this quick turnarond in racing again but from a yard that can keep them going.

Armsaround has shown a modest level in maidens and needs to step up dramatically on handicap debut.

Black Dave is dropping back down the weights but very inexperienced jockey on board today and probably best swerved on that and latest lesser runs.

This is not Archie Stevens trip and has to be watched racing over 7f, best wait till back over 5f or 6f.

Classic Flyer has put to good placed efforts together for a yard going well at present, both around here over the 6f, has looked in need of the 7f so needs to prove stamina.

Clockmaker has to be of interest on the back of a good effort last time out finishing well behind a very well handicapped Seychelloise, he was held up that day however his most recent wins havecome from making all mainly including over this CD, there are no obvious front runners in this race and he may get that role from a good draw. Conor Dore’s runners have been a little out of shapre recently but signs they are turning the corner at present.

1pt win Clockmaker 5/1 bet365

Aintree 2.15 - Many Clouds - win at 11/4 bog wm hill

Listed Chase

We have a short priced favourite here from Ireland in the shape of Don Poli, who won the RSA in March. He's currently odds-on but I think he's worth opposing. Firstly this is his first run out of novice company and his first run of the season, It wouldn't be unusual for Mullin's top horses to disappoint on their seasonal debuts..............they're all working towards Cheltenham in March

Many Clouds won the Hennessy, a Cheltenham Grade 2 and the Grand National last season. He's higher rated on OR than the favourite although is giving him 5lb in view of the latter's 'novice' status

Conditions should be fine.

Faced a tough task on his seasonal return giving 10lbs to the likes of Cue Card and Dynaste. He was fairly well beaten in the end but showed up for a long way and could come on for the run

3:35 Sandown : Count Guido Deiro @ 10/1 e/w thanks

Count Guido Deiro.....from Nigel Twiston-Davies yard who are keeping it in the family with Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle , The 8yo has won a hurdle race and two chases from 2m 5f to 3m 1f on soft and heavy ground, He opened his campaign this season 27 days ago at Ffos las 3m heavy when 2nd where he took led 5 out but tired in run in when headed and no extra final 50yds with Jamie Bargary claiming 5lbs in saddle , With the more experienced Sam Twiston-Davies in saddle he may leave the challenge a bit later but horse will have came on from that run out

A3.20 Distime 22/1 Betvictor

This horse has only had 2 runs for its current stable. The first was an unplaced effort when friendless in the market but that was followed up by a win under todays 3lb claimer when well backed so obviously the trainer has managed to find the key to this horse. The horses back in 2nd, 3rd and 4th were all younger quite well fancied horses and that form has a solid look to it. The horse gets into this handicap off 10 stone and the jockeys 3lb claim could make all the difference here.

3.20 Aintree: Betfred Grand Sefton Handicap Chase

Verdict:

A very open looking race and you cant get away from the Favourite Double Ross. He has ran two cracking races this season and this opposition looks a tad easier than he has been up against lately. He’s not a big price but is the solid choice for a yard who does well here.

As an alternative I think Fago is the value bet at double figure odds, for me he is the best of the Nicholls pair.

Selection: Double Ross 6/1 with Ladbrokes

6.15 - Wolves - Prime Exhibit - 11/2 - Hills BOG

This one has been steadily dropping down the weights and is now down to 59 which is his lowest handicap mark ever and is now fully 8 lbs below his last winning mark. His last 4 wins have all come on the AW and 2 of those were over this C & D. Adam Kirby gets the leg-up tonight and he obviously needs no introduction. If this horse can find some of his previous form then he should be able to take advantage of his lowly mark.

2.15 Aintree - Menorah @ 10/1 Bet365

Don Poli is one I'm keen to take on. His chase form isn't very strong as the RSA looked a terrible race and he really just outstayed Apache Stronghold over a trip too far for him. He's also a very lazy type and with the spring festivals on his agenda he'll probably come on a ton for this. Many Clouds' campaign revolves around the Grand National and I'm sure Sherwood will not have him fully tuned up for a Listed race. Southfield Theatre just doesn't look good enough. That leaves Menorah who is a high class horse on his day and although he throws in some shockers a strike rate of 7 from 23 over fences is pretty decent and at 10/1 he's the one for me.
