The selection won a point over 3m so its been a bit puzzling to see him barely get home since he has been hurdling over a lot shorter. Was going ok in both efforts over timber until stopping to nothing over the last couple of flights. I cant help thinking we haven't seen the best of him yet and although this may be a run to get a handicap mark he's worth a nibble at double figure odds. It's encouraging that there has been some rain at Ripon since this horses best 2 races have come with ease in the ground and any more rain would surely improve its chances. Trainer form is good with 2 winners in her last 6 runners and the only time this horse raced over this distance on this ground was when a decent 4th at Newcastle (backed from 25/1 to 16/1) where the horse back in 5th has since won easily off a mark of 69 so this mark of 64 with the jockey claiming 5lb looks to potentially be a decent one especially if any further rain arrives.
