Nap of the day 7th March 2015

Recommended Posts

Nap of the Day - Saturday 7th March 2015 Trainer Gordon Elliott sends over just the one horse for the (listed) NH Flat race - Class One, the 5yr old by Kayf Tara and Owned by Gigginstown puts her reputation once again on the line and it will take a good animal to beat her. She wasn't asked many questions on the last day of the year at Fairyhouse and what with jockey B.Cooper also making the trip for this one sole ride gives us punters a big hint they are coming over for 1st prize and nothing less. If she has improved any amount in the last 35 days the rest of the field would be better just staying at home, she's a class act with a nice future. 3:45 Sandown Park - Whistle Dixie. 1pt Win Bet @ 4/1 Bet365 ''BOG'' Have a nice weekend :ok

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 Meydan 4:05 - Vercingetorix 10/11 Betfair I can't see past Mike De Kock's horse in the Jebel Hatta. Although not a great price for this, Vercingetorix was very impressive last time out against True Story winning with abit in hand. Hunters Light is the main danger and has won his last two but I don't think he's on the same level as the favourite, who is favourite for the Dubai Duty Free at the end of the month. The selections only loss was in the Dubai Duty Free last year coming second to horse of the year Just A Way.

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 Sat 7th Mar 2015 2.15 Wolverhampton (12 runners) Al Thakira could be too hot to handle here, but is a bit skinny in the market and is making AW debut. A chance is therefore taken on improving Don't Be who has won her last 5 starts on the AW (2 here) and improved markedly each time. Needs to post another career best here but entitled to do so. Don't Be 0.5pt E/W @ 12/1 (Coral BOG)

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 2.0 sand mount haven @16/1 paddyp very competitive handicap hurdle. the selection runs for the pipe/schu partnership who always start banging in the winners around cheltenham.... i like the first time blinkers as the stable has a decent strike rate when there tried for the first time. henderson has the fav but in my opinion there shouldnt be over 10 points between them

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 3.45 Sandown WHISTLE DIXIE 4/1 Bet365 Wont mind the forecast softer, going been progressive so far in its two bumper runs and the fact Bryan Cooper comes over for just the one mount and goes back to Naas tomorrow for a cpl of rides before cheltenham.

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 3:10 Sandown Gassin Golf 33/1 Bet Vic Ran a cracker in this last year off an 11b lower mark just getting touched off by the Pipe horse. From 13 hurdle starts he has been the bridesmaid 6 times and 3rd 3 times. Dickie gets the leg up today and I'm hoping he can finally get his nose in front.

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 Ayr 3:20 - Knocklayde Sno Cat WIN @ 12/1 Betfred Was a good 3rd here at Ayr over two miles and Crawford generally does well when he brings his horses to Ayr. Mark of 110 could be tough to win off but the step up in distance might suit this horse who looked caught for toe at Sedgefield last time out.

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 Sand 4.20 - Traffic Fluide - win at 6/4 bog betvictor 2 mile novices handicap Improving young chaser. faced an impossible task on his british debut against the likes of Pitt Zigg, Josses Hill and Dunraven Storm but ran OK over a trip possible too long for him Next time he went off favourite for a hot handicap and just appeared to not stay the 2 mile 3 furlongs at Ascot. Dropped in trip next time he easily accounted for today's rival Seventh Sky in a handicap. That one reopposes on much better terms but my selection looks to be improving and seventh Sky looks a bit exposed now.

Re: Nap of the day 7th March 2015 2.50 Wolverhampton:Lincoln Trial Handicap (Class 2) No surprise to see this Handicap as competitive as it is with more than half of the field in with a legitimate win chance. Right at the head of the market is the recently so impressive Lingfield winner Mindyourownbusiness. A progressive colt, he improved nicely from run to run and got his game very much together the last time to win with a bit of authority. He had quite the run of the race, though, and up 7lb in the handicap mark, more is needed. Though, given his profile, he could easily be up to it. Melvin The Grate finished a gallant fourth that day, following on from some excellent performances. He tracked the eventual winner all the way but couldn't cope with the acceleration of Mindyourownbusiness. Not impossible that he can improve again, but he will have to as it looks to me as if he may be in the grip of the handicapper now. He certainly will need a quick pace and probably a bit of in-running luck if connections decide to revert to the successful hold-up tactics. Always consistently competitive is Marco Botti's Solar Deity. In his last five starts he has never been beaten by more than three lengths and finished was in the money in the majority of those races. That is reflected in his handicap mark, which stand stiff at 105. For that reason he has to carry a very big weight today as the highest rated horse in the field and may find one or two too good once again. Godolphin's Billingsgate had a quick trip to Dubai, but finished last in a competitive Handicap there. Shipped back to the UK, he must rate a good chance here, based on last seasons form, though the travel stress is a slight worry. David Simcock's Halation is an interesting runner. This Azamour gelding is clearly progressive, and had excuses when he finished down the field behind Mindyourownbusiness at Lingfield on his seasonal reappearance. The handicapper gave him a big chance subsequently and he obliged duly. He was in the right position that day, but also travelled beautifully and looked like a horse with much more to come. Consequently raised in the mark, he will need to improve, but the trip should suit well as on pedigree he is supposed to get further as well as get better with time. A fine 7lb claimer cancels effectively out the 6lb rise of the the handicap mark and therefore I would expect Halation to be very competitive today - if he is able to overcome his wide draw - which has to be a slight concern. Veteran Santefisio hasn't been seen to best effect in recent starts, however he is on a very long losing run and simply need more help from the handicapper. Jack Of Diamonds ran with loads of credit in his last starts. Expect him to be competitive today. He has a bit to find with the more fancied rivals, though. Don't Call Me looks as good as ever, but that says looked unlikely to be able to win off a mark as high as the current one in this grade. Pearl Nation is better suited to Southwell, though has Wolverhampton form. He did well lately, however it's much more required here today. On balance, I feel Halation is the dark horse to an extend and is overpriced. He is on a mark that gives him a chance to win if natural improvement would kick in for this lightly raced gelding. He showed nice form recently, has a good 7lb claimer on board and should like the trip. Halation @ 6/1 PP
