Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Wigan - Doncaster HW 7/10 I see Wigan strong favourite here, they came from PL and are sure a good team for Championship.McManaman will miss it but i think Latics can remplace him.Holt can prove to be a good player able to score.Doncaster played League One last year so 2 level difference few mouths ago.i know Bournemouth was League One's team also but Wigan at home should be heavy task for Doncaster who will have a very difficult season and they will fight for survival. Wigan is stronger in all areas I'm confident on HW do you agree?

rovers are coming off a good confidence building win, where they looked solid at the back. Maybe wigan will be the first relegated prem team with great team/squad for this league who expekt to win but dont put enuf effort to win, like their last game v bourenmouth, plus they put in a limp performance v man u in charity shield final. they are around 1.50 for straight win and ahc -1.0 1.85 , I dont think theres no value there to be had. All value for rovers atm imho.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August I agree with gym boy but really it's not a game I want to get involved in. You would expect Wigan to win it and they could do so quite comfortably. But I'm never going to back 1/2 shots in the championship.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August

With odds going from 5.4 to 7.2 the value is clearly away' date=' and I may yet get involved on the draw.[/quote'] seems to be a trend of these big team/squad relegated prem sides odds shortening as ppl lump money on them as match gets closer.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August On the draw at 4.68. Championship weekdays throw up more upsets than weekend games, and that's consistent between all levels of odds. The one thing that has been variable has been outright wins by dogs of better than 6.0...last season outright wins were huge, after four years of draws predominating.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August I find myself agreeing with the suggestion that Wigan are prohibitively short and couldn't put anyone off 15/2 for an away win, 11/2 DNB or 3 or more on the exchanges for the double chance. I generally prefer to bet on goals as opposed to match outcomes and have bought Doncaster's goal rush at the generally available 10. Break even for one goal and profit for 2 or more. Last season, Doncaster averaged 16.17 in their away games, scoring 2 or more 13 times, one goal 6 times and none on 4 occasions. Wigan's visitors averaged 21.89, with just one clean sheet and 15 teams going >1.5. Only fair to say that it took Wigan's relegation and Doncaster's promotion to make this fixture happen but I still think a buy at 10 is a decent enough bet when the markets seem to be underestimating the visitors.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August

wigan have sold their first team players. i would back doncaster to get a result
Theyve got rid of a couple but to say theyve sold their first team squad is quite frankly untrue. If anything theyve strengthened in some areas. Wigan comfortable win for me. No team managed by Dickov inspires me

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Just for fun, for the past three seasons, I counted up the home Championship records of the nine sides in the first season after they relegated from Premier: 95-66-46 (46% wins, 32% draws, 22% losses). Then, for the past three seasons, I counted up the away Championship records of the nine sides in the first season after they promoted from League One: 67-61-79 (32% wins, 29% draws, 38% losses). Head to head the past two seasons, the three relegated Premier sides at home went 10-5-3 against the three promoted League One sides. I don't have time before kickoff to do the other season. You can draw your own conclusions. They didn't go 18-0-0 at home against sides that "a couple of months ago were two leagues apart."

Interesting side note...in only one of those 5 wins did the former Premier side win by more than 1 goal...2-0. The other 4 wins were by the slimmest of margins: 1-0. Totals: 2 overs, 7 unders.

So the totals for two seasons are not quite as stark: 6 overs, 12 unders, with four of 18 games won big by the relegated EPL sides

More or less workman like performances since ince out. brought in fuller and Delfouneso in this week, not sure about ready starters or maybe subs. Prob lucky to get lucky late winner v barnsley in last home. reading looked good v bolton in last away game. Not read much about watford game yet. reading odds already shortening and will prob shorten more coz big team/squad relagated prem team. dont know much more about them coz just come into championship. Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Sheff Wednesday v Milwall +0.5 @ 1.875 Bet365 (3 Points) Both sides have had poor starts to the season with only a point being registered between them. As such both managers will be desperate not to lose this one. Wednesday have the home advantage but I'd only have them on a -0.25 line considering how they are struggling themselves. I think Lomas has made some decent signings and they have a good chance of picking up their first point on the weekend. They did lose 3-0 at Ipswich but that score line was harsh on them and they created enough chances to get something in their 1-0 loss against Huddersfield. At the odds on offer I would rather have the positive handicap on wall than be relying on Wednesday to take the full 3 points. I'm backing Lomas to pick up his first points of the season.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Brighton -0.25 v Burnley @ 1.80 Bet365 (4 Points) I like this line on Brighton a lot. After picking up their first win of the season I think they should start putting a bit of form together. Burnley have had a great start but unfortunately for them I just can't see it lasting. Their squad is way to thin and if Dyche doesn't soon bring in some reinforcements, I worry for them. Ross Wallace is going to be out for months as he needs surgery and as yet they still haven't replaced Charlie Austin or Martin Patterson. If Danny Ings hits some bad form or gets injured they are in trouble. Ultimately, I see these sides finishing at different ends of the table. My admiration for Brighton is no secret and I think they will be too strong for Burnley in this match. With half stake refund in event of the draw this one is very appealing.

I agree with your thoughts really mate but I. Keep opposing Blackpool and they haven't yet lost so I think I will give this one a swerve at current prices.

Brighton & Hove Albion V Burnley Brighton & Hove Albion -0.25 @ 4/5 (Betdaq) 2 Units Unfortunately the -0.25 line has gone from 17/20 to 4/5 overnight but still a bit of value I feel. Pretty much agree with everything Wisey has said, Burnley are very reliant on their quality from wide areas so the loss of Ross Wallace is big. Burnley unbeaten so far but their two victories came against Sheffield Wednesday and Yeovil, I know you can only beat what's put infront of you but even so... Brighton will look to gain mommentum here and it should be a game that will really challenge Burnley. Would have liked to wait for the Brighton team news but there's always the risk the opportunity may disappear with the price shortening.

Ince is back after his 2 match ban (missed Barnsley & Boro games). Phillips is still out. Blackpool - won 2 drew 1, but have played Doncaster, Boro & Barnsley, teams expected to be nearer the bottom of the table. Also, their winning goals vs Barnsley and Doncaster both came in the last minute. Reading - won 1 drew 2, have beaten a solid Ipswich side and drew vs fellow promotion hopefuls Bolton and Watford. Reading did lead Watford 2-0 & 3-1, but ended up drawing 3-3 late on. Odds wise, BTTS @8/13 may be a bit short, so Reading WIN @7/4 or Reading to WIN & BTTS @4/1 look the best value here. *All prices William Hill.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Leicester v Birmingham team news Paul Konchesky comes back into the reckoning for Leicester ahead of their home game against Birmingham in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday. The left-back was omitted from the squad that travelled to Derby last weekend amid interest from Sky Bet Championship rivals Brighton. "There was interest from another club, but it didn't materialise," said Leicester boss Nigel Pearson. "He is training with us and will be considered for the weekend and I am pleased to have him." Wingers Anthony Knockaert and Ben Marshall and defenders Zoumana Bakayogo and Ignasi Miquel, on loan from Arsenal, all came through a development squad fixture this week without any problems and are in contention. Centre-half Sean St Ledger (knee) is still out. Darren Ambrose and Jonathan Spector, meanwhile, are both in contention for Birmingham. Ambrose managed over an hour for the club's reserves in midweek having been sidelined with a groin injury, although fellow midfielder Spector, also back in full training after a fractured cheekbone, did not feature. Nikola Zigic (back) remains in the treatment room along with long-term absentees Will Packwood and David Murphy while Mitch Hancock will also miss out after suffering a setback in his recovery from an ankle strain. Akwasi Asante will not feature in Lee Clark's matchday 18 after the Blues boss confirmed the striker had picked up a minor hamstring strain while on loan at Shrewsbury aBirmingham are nothing special, they will spent difficult season.Leicester can run for play-off at laest. i see HW here 5/10.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August [h=1]I get this as a link email from William Hill and ot's OPTA statistics it's useful for having the games and facts all in one place so you don't have to search the whole thread . I'll also posts info. re League 1 & League 2. I would like to post Premiership one but I have to break it up for individuals games (moderators instructions) , sorry I can't be asked after a hard days work to do that.[/h] Bolton v QPR Bolton have gone seven league games without defeat against QPR, winning six. Six different players have scored QPR's six goals this season (all competitions). No side has attempted more shots this season than QPR (45). The Trotters have won eight of their last 10 league clashes with the R's on home soil (L2). The R's have struck the woodwork three times already this season; a joint-league-high alongside Birmingham City. The Trotters are yet to win in the league this season, extending their winless run to five games, which includes two fixtures at the end of the 2012/13 campaign (D4 L1). QPR's 1-0 victory over Ipswich was their first clean sheet in six league games. Blackburn v Barnsley Rovers are currently enjoying a six-match (all comps) unbeaten run against the Tykes, winning four. Chris O'Grady has netted five times in his last seven league matches for Barnsley. The two sides met twice last season with Blackburn winning on both occasions (2-1 and 3-1). Four of the five goals scored by Blackpool this season have come in the final fifteen minutes of matches; only Watford have scored as many goals in the final fifteen minutes. Brighton v Burnley Last season, Brighton won on both occasions against Burnley, scoring four goals in the process (1-0 and 3-1). Burnley are now unbeaten in their last six league games, winning four (two 2-1s and two 2-0s) and drawing two (both 1-1). Gordon Greer scored at both ends against Burnley during the Seagulls' 3-1 victory last season; scoring an own goal in the 60th minute and then scoring Brighton's third in the 88th minute. After going eight Championship games without scoring, Sam Vokes has scored twice in two games for the Clarets. The Seagulls have conceded 43 fouls so far this season; a league-high figure. Leonardo Ulloa has netted seven of his 12 goals (all comps) for Brighton at home. Charlton v Doncaster Charlton forward Simon Church has netted three goals in four games (all comps) this season, after managing just one goal in the whole of last season. Doncaster have won just two of their six meetings in total with Charlton, losing the other four. They have met just twice since the turn of the century (in 2008/09), with Donny winning 2-1 at the Valley, courtesy of goals from James Coppinger and Brian Stock and Charlton winning 1-0 away. After failing to score in 16 league games for Huddersfield and Derby, Theo Robinson has netted twice in two games since joining Doncaster this season. In the 2010/11 season, the two sides met four times (incl. play offs), with all those clashes ending in score draws. Only Brighton's Inigo Calderon has made more interceptions than Bournemouth defender Steve Cook so far this season. The Cherries have recorded just two headed attempts on goal this season; a league-low tally. Ipswich v Leeds The Tractor Boys have won five of their last six home matches against the Whites (D1). Leeds have picked up four red cards in their last eight clashes with Ipswich (Ipswich also suffered one sending-off). Only Junior Hoilett (22) has attempted more dribbles this season than Ross McCormack this season (15). Ipswich have scored in each of their last nine home league matches against Leeds, keeping four clean sheets in the process. Ipswich have lost three of their first four matches of the 2013/14 season (all comps), winning the other. The Tractor Boys have mustered just 22 shots this season, a haul superior to just two other sides. Leicester v Birmingham Only midlands rivals Forest have conceded fewer goals (0) than the Foxes this season (1). Chris Kirkland has made 13 saves so far this season, a figure beaten only by Birmingham keeper Darren Randolph (15). Yeovil v Derby The Glovers have lost four of their last six league games, winning the other two. Derby have enjoyed just two victories in their last 13 league fixtures away from home. This will be the first competitive meeting between the two clubs at any level of football. Will Hughes has created nine chances for his team-mates this season; more than any other Derby player. Only Birmingham City (10) have received more yellow cards this season than Derby (7). The Rams are yet to keep a clean sheet this season in the league. Indeed, last season, only Bristol City (6) kept fewer than Derby (8). Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Huddersfield -0.25 v Bournemouth @ 1.90 Bet365 (3 Points) Huddersfield have had a pretty tough start to the season with two away games at Forest and Milwall and a home game against title favourites QPR. From that they've taken a respectable 4 points and they have a good chance here to make it back to back wins. I like the the look of the Terriers this season and a big reason for that is the forward line of James Vaughn and Martin Patterson. They've got a bit of quality about them and they will be a handful for any defence. Bournemouth have also had a tough enough start and have also done reasonably well picking up 4 points including a win against Wigan (who did have a man sent off). But more worryingly, in their only away game so far they got thumped 6-1 at high flying Watford. The -0.25 probably does look about right but as I think Huddersfield might surprise a few this season, it's one that I think is worth taking. It's not a 'value' punt as such but at a fair price and line, I'm willing to back my instinct on the Terriers.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August 4pts QPR to beat Bolton (DNB) 10/11 William Hill Bolton are missing a number of players going into this match which is far from ideal and I think they might be there for the taking here. QPR have a side kitted out to hit sides on the counter attack through the likes of Wright-Phillips, Austin and Hoilett while they have the workers in midfield to ensure they remain tight. This could be tight but if there is a winner I fancy it to be the visitors. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bolton-vs-qpr-betting-qpr-can-edge-out-the-trotters-at-the-reebok

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Blackpool v Reading - While Blackpool have secured 7 points from there opening 3 games I feel that they are in a false position having played three of the poorer teams in the league. However, they have scored late in all 3 games showing a high team spirit and will be boosted by the return of Tom Ince. Reading on the other hand have played 3 of the better teams in the league, having faced promotion contenders Watford & Bolton as well as a solid Ipswich side who I expect to be in or around the play-offs this year. From discussions with Bolton fans they were very impressed with Reading when they visited the Reebok & felt they were a much better side than Forest. Therefore I expected Reading to be too strong for Blackpool here. Brighton v Burnley - Despite a difficult start to the season with losses away to Leeds and at home to Derby, Brighton have got going under new manager Oscar Garcia with a 1-0 win away to Birmingham last week. I expect Brighton to push on from that result and record a first home win of the season against a Burnley side who despite getting a decent point against Bolton on the first day of the season were in my opinion 2nd best on the day & recording 2 wins in their other games against 2 relegation candidates in Sheff Weds & Yeovil without looking brilliant. I don't think they have enough fire power to be a strong team this year having lost Austin & feel that Brighton should have enough fire power & creativity to inflict a first defeat of the season on Burnley. Huddersfield v Bournemouth - I've been impressed with Huddersfield this season so far and feel that they have enough quality to escape any relegation battles this year. I particularly like the look of Vaughan upfront and feel that the additions to this area should help with them goals that they struggled with in the previous campaign (2nd Lowest) & they appear to now be a stronger unit defensively (3rd weakest last season). Bournemouth for me are a bit of an unknown this year with an embarrassing defeat by Watford followed by an impressive victory over Wigan. Maybe someone else can provide a bit more info about Bournemouth to see if this is a good bet? But for me a lot will depend on the form of Grabban. Leicester v Birmingham - I expect Leicester to be too strong for the financially troubled Birmingham, who I expect to be a resilient side this season but with quite a young squad bolstered by with a number of free transfers I don't expect them to have strengthened much this season. Even though the money appears to have dried up at Leicester they have kept a pretty stable squad from last year and I would expect more of the same from them with them just being short of the play-offs. However, I still feel Leicester will have enough class to see off a spirited Birmingham side without too much difficulty. Yeovil v Derby - While it is quite easy to bet against the favourites for relegation in minnows Yeovil, I have been surprised by their start to life in the Championship thus far. While it is clear in my opinion that they don't have a goal scorer good enough for this level to keep them in league they will pride themselves on being resolute at the back & hard to beat allowing them to upset many a team throughout the season. Derby meanwhile I feel have a few exciting young players in Will Hughes & Jeff Hendrick and may have found a natural goal scorer at this level Johnny Russell (Time will tell about him). I think Derby will just have a bit too much creativity going forward for Yeovil to deal with here.

Hoilett out with a hamstring injury...
Yes, most likely. 'Arry's assistant Bond admitted they are short on players who are creatively and want to add. Well they did by signing Phillips from Blackpool yesterday but he is still out with a broken arm.

Re: Sky Bet Championship > 20th / 24th & 25th August Bolton v Qpr Goal Line: over 2.25 @ 1.80 Bet365 (3 Points) I was considering taking this one when it was a straight 2.5 line but now it's come in to 2.25, I can't resist taking it and I think there is some value in the overs. Both sides are missing some key players but they both still look good in attacking areas. Bolton leaked in 3 goals away at Forest last week and they are yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Against a good QPR side I can't see them keeping one today either. On the plus side for them I do fancy them to get on the score sheet also. I can see why the unders is being priced as it is due to the number of unders games these two have been involved in so far. But in this particular match up, I think both sides will get on the score sheet and there is a good chance of the game going under. With half stakes refund in the event of just two goals being scored, that's a big enough incentive for me.
