Re: Boxing Day Lucky 15 Thread Helpston~Ran well in this last year was in the process of running a big race lto when unlucky fall. Cinders & Ashes~Needed run last time out and am willing to give it another chance. The Giant Bolster~ Ran a stonker in last years gold cup has form on heavy going and has the Real McCoy on top. Katkeau~ Ran well for a long way on 1st british outing for the pipe yard this shorter distance will suit the price is very tight but hard to see it not going very close here.

Re: Boxing Day Lucky 15 Thread 1.45 - Wetherby - Helpston @ 5/1 I thought that Helpston looked like he was going very well before falling last time out. The 8yo took well to chasing last year and looked much sharper for his re-appearance in a Doncaster handicap 10 days ago. He has a great record over C&D including a close 2nd in this race last year and a win on his only other C&D run. Hasnt encountered real heavy ground that often but has run well in testing conditions and the trip is of no concern. 5lb claimer helps to ease the weight burden and if not feeling the effects of that fall lto i feel he has a great chance here. 2.35 - Kempton - Countrywide Flame @ 15/8 Superb performance in the fighting fith hurdle at Newcastle last month. Should take all the beating here in similar conditions and is a worthy favourite. 3.10 - Kempton - Kauto Stone @ 8/1 Not had much chance to look at all of tomorrows racing but already had a bet on Kauto Stone for the King George so this is my selection. I was really impressed with his seasonal re-appearance at Down Royal when beating First Luietenant who has since finished 3rd in the Hennesey. Still a 6yo he has the potential for some more improvement and the half brother to Kauto Star could also improve Paul Nicolls good record in the race. He should cope with the ground having won in similar conditions over in France and Ireland and should see out the trip fine too. Ruby Walsh takes over from Dayrl Jacob in the saddle who is suspended and i really think he has a great chance considering the doubts over conditions for a few of the others. 3.45 - Kempton - Saint Roque @ 7/2 Another one who fell when in process of running a big race lto. That was Saint Roque's first run of the season and he looks to have come on for the breathing operation he had in the summer. Runs off same mark tomorrow in a first time tongue tie and should go close Win L15 William Hill

Re: Boxing Day Lucky 15 Thread 1.25 Kempton - Aikideau @ 12/1 Richard Rowe's runner appears well-treated for this handicap chase to me and represents good value at 12/1 for all this is a competitive affair. This horse won two novice hurdles in succession over 2m5f at Plumpton, with both coming on testing ground and both in pretty good style. He ran in a handicap off 128 next time at Sandown but bumped into the well-handicapped Ambion Wood (now rated 18lbs higher). It was a competitive, hot race so the fact he went so well of 128 suggests to me he can prove very capable of going close off 120 here on his handicap debut over fences. He has shown sufficient promise to suggest this isn't beyond him over the larger obstacles. Although we learned nothing when he fell on his first start at the opening flight, his run last time was substantially better than the bare result. Firstly, given he didn't go very far at Plumpton, this was essentially his first run of the season so probably needed it for fitness and Leighton Aspell wanted to get a clear round into the horse so was very lenient on his mount. He jumped pretty well and was never asked any real questions. He dropped away from the front three but was never pushed and things wouldn't have been ideal for him anyway. He met some good, speedy two-milers off level weights and the sharp track at Lingfield wouldn't have been his bag either given his two wins over hurdles. Although Kempton wouldn't be particularly galloping, the step up in trip will help in that regard - especially with the ground on the soft side. He's back in more realistic company here with chasing experience under his belt. Fitness should now be on his side and 12/1 looks too big given he looks to be running off a decent mark. 1.45 Wetherby - Helpston @ 5/1 Quite a few of these would have questions to answer and although Pam Sly's runner isn't bombproof, I feel he has a lot in his favour today and should go very close. In two starts at Wetherby he has won and been a close 2nd in this race last year (off 5lbs higher). Although on that, this mark could be on the high side, the race last campaign was a fair bit more competitive than this. The front two were 15l clear and the winner won again next time off 7lbs higher. The high-class Midnight Chase was back in third so the race looked to have plenty of substance and this year seems to lack the quality. Since that fine effort, he unseated early in the Reynoldstown before winning a novice chase at Newcastle. Although he ran below par on his seasonal reappearance this time around, it was probably one to just put in the forgive pile seen as he didn't really travel at all. He was going with much more purpose when coming to grief at Doncaster last time out and if putting it all together today he must go well with Gina Andrews back on board (same rider in this last year) who takes 5lbs off his back. Should be spot on for this and I fancy him to go very well. 2.35 Kempton - Cinders And Ashes @ 7/2 I fancy this could come down to the two who fought out the finish of the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle and I expect there to be a different outcome this afternoon. Although John Quinn's Triumph Hurdle winner got the better of the argument in impressive fashion on that occasion, there were reasons why I feel and as such I believe there is a pretty strong case for a reversal in form. Donald McCain's horses are flying at the moment and his Supreme Novice winner should strip much fitter for that run at Newcastle and Countrywide Flame had the advantage of a recent run when taking that contest. Especially when you factor in the heavy ground and the testing course there at Newcastle, you can see why the race panned out as it did. My selection was plausibly just done for stamina and fitness, two things that should be fine here. The track here puts more emphasis on speed than Newcastle so that will suit Cinders And Ashes more than Countrywide Flame in my book and they should be much closer matched now both have fitness on their side. Heavy ground is no issue on last year's form and I'd much rather side with him at 9/2 than his fellow Cheltenham Festival winner. 3.10 Kempton - Riverside Theatre @ 5/1 Nicky Henderson has a strong hand here but this horse has been laid out for this race and given his record both fresh and at this track, he has to merit serious respect for all he was put in his place by Long Run in the delayed 2010 race. That came without a nice lay-off which seems to suit (won his reappearance that season impressively) and subsequently won his three next races. Never went at Aintree in April but has subsequently been given time off and there's no doubt he'll be primed for this. A real test would suit Long Run but there are questions as to whether he's as good as it looked he'd prove to be and although he has form here, you'd have to fancy a more testing track would be ideal. Riverside Theatre has Barry Geraghty on board and the horse's form here reads 11112. He seems to handle both cut and this trip (albeit not conclusively) and has a fine record in general at right-handed tracks (11131F1211) with the third coming at Punchestown to Hurricane Fly in a two mile hurdle. You have to query whether Cue Card will stay and how Grands Crus is going to see out his race so to me Riverside Theatre looks a damn good each-way bet and I will be disappointed if I don't get a return. He's never been beaten in four starts after a 100 day absence and generally looks a rock solid option to put it to his stablemate. 1pt win Lucky 15 (Hills)

Coole River - Has form in these conditions and looked well when put in a solid effort last time out for first run under new trainer. Further improvement should give this one an excellent chance. Green Wizard - Solid effort last time out, has only raced 4 times so is continuing to learn and improve. Will relish these conditions. Raya Star - see jumps section for write up. Long Run - see jumps section for write up. Good luck everyone, hopefully a late Christmas present in here somewhere!! :D

Re: Boxing Day Lucky 15 Thread EW Lucky 15 Lovcen 2pm Kempton 10-1 PP Baily Green 2.55pm Leopardstown 22-1 PP Riverside Theatre 3.10pm Kempton 11-2 PP Cinders and Ashes 2.35pm Kempton 9-2 PP Lovcen - hasn't jumped a fence yet but was always going to be a chaser rather than a hurdler. Won a grade 1 hurdle over 25f and has the class to ask some questions of Dynaste if taking well to fences. Baily Green - Nothing wrong with the manner of defeat last time out, chasing a Mullins horse to the line. Travelled well, good attitude when asked a question, jumped well, overpriced. Riverside Theatre - top jockey on board, goes well fresh, likes Kempton, proven grade 1 performer, ran well in this race when beaten by Long Run but those 2 going in opposite directions. Cinders and Ashes - might not like the ground again but has the class to at least place. Might have also needed that first run and be a different horse today.

Re: Boxing Day Lucky 15 Thread Win L15 Valmari 1:25 Kemp - Taken part in 3 chases so far. Won the first, second thereafter and fell while in front in her third (which was a Gr2). Today is cl3, and has the ability to see her win. Roi De Garde 2:10 Mar - Had been entered for two races today but plumped for this event. The only course winner here and won lto. Quite an open affair. Tom Messenger knows the horse really well having ridden the 6yo 14 times. Just the one win on him (lto) but two further places and the jockey has placed at the track 6 times from 18 rides in the past year. Dutch Mistress 2:40 Wol - 2nd on her sole run 9 days ago, just a length from the win. Trainer is 3 wins and 3 places from just 8 races in the last two weeks and has a good record with the jockey Lord Of The Dance 3:45 Wol - Has a further entry over the coming days after winning a week ago. Top weight today and in the same class as lto. Had a 3lb claimer in the last race, but I think the win may have been because the 6yo had changed trainers before the previous win after a year out. Could well be primed for another win.

Re: Lucky 15 Thread One for me too: 1.30 - Kempton - Swincombe Flame @ 4/1 I like the look of Swincombe Flame reverting back to hurdles. The 6yo mare returns to the scene of her Lazerote hurdle win last January. Shes had 2 tries over fences this season which have been pretty underwhelming, but atleast ensures she goes into this with a couple of race under her belt this winter. She should cope with the testing ground and the only question in my mind is the step up in trip to over 3m for the first time. Hasnt got many miles on the clock having only had 11 career runs and i personally felt this one should be favourite over One Lucky Lady. Yard in good form and Richard Johnson takes the ride. 13.50 - Lingfield - Macy Anne @ 14/1 Like Menadati in this one but also think that Macy Anne has an outside chance. 2nd start for new yard, should be strip fitter for recent return run and drop back in trip should help too. Jim Crowley booked for the ride, decent draw and could go well at a big price. 14.05 - Kempton - Ghizao @ 4/1 Only lost out to For Non Stop by a head last time out so worth backing him to reverse that at double the price in my opinion. Has won over C&D, copes with the heavy ground and would be no surprise if he won this. 17.30 - Wolverhampton - Rose Garnet @ 6/4 Done well for Tony Carroll since coming over from Ireland. Landed Kempton handicap ahead of subsequent winner Pharoh Jake before finishing a very close 2nd lto well clear of 3rd. Back up to 6f which should help and should win this if in same form. Win L15 - Ladbrokes

Re: Lucky 15 Thread well done aidy for yesterday also, profit on yours also with 2 nice winners Ted, get those updates done!! Onto today, placed earlier today a win L15 1.30 Kempton One lucky lady Henderson throws in the 4yo in the deep end today with a longer trip to get against elder horses. Likes the ground so thats in its favour and Henderson / Geraghty are often backed blind at this track at this meeting. RAn well behind a top mare in Kentford Grey lady at Sandown last time out 7/2 PP 2.05 Kempton Rearranged Peterborough chase and a good opening for Ghizao who loves this ground. The 4l 2nd to Captain Chris was well franked yesterday and on a similar track to ascot, Nicholls will be wanting a decent day today after no big winners yesterday. I have had this horse tipped a couple of times to me before and i think there is a big race in it. Jumps well and 7/2 looks a decent price in a small field 7/2 PP 2.40 Kempton Sanctuaire has to give weight away to Kumbshwar and the field today but i think we will see te best of the horse today rather than the attempt at the tingle creek where Ruby tried to run the steam out of Sprinter sacre and only managed a 3rd place with Kumbeshwar catching it after the last 5/4 PP 3.15 Kempton Mister Hyde loves this ground and was available at 5/1 when i saw it. That looked decent value to me. up 3lb for latest win and although im not a fan of O'Neills, this should go close today 5/1 PP good luck all

Thanks ted Before this thread I was doing mainly trebles from 5 selections but have picked up some reasonable returns on these recent ones Would be great to see the four figure barrier beaten following your 500 return last week
Well we did the 1000+ in 2011 in the multiple challenge with a L15 bet (4 placers) so no reason why we can't blow that to shreds here if we keep it going. http://forum.punterslounge.com/threads/112169-2012-Challenge-Multiples-target-1000pt-return/page6?highlight=2011+challen

Re: The Saturday Lucky 15 Thread Ill have another pop for tomorrow seeing as I am off to Newbury. Win only and all with Bet365. Newbury 1.35 - Bury Parade 3/1 - The form of this horse stands out to me and I think it will take all the beating against less battle hardened rivals. He is a grand jumper and the trip and ground should suit. Newbury 2.10 - Pete The Feat 9/4 - Toss up between this one and Rey Nacarado for me in this race but where I think the handicapper knows all about the latter, we simply dont know where this one's improvement is going to stop. He needs a career best to win this race but the form has stacked up well and he is a very efficient jumper which could be vital. Newbury 3.15 - African Gold 5/1 - I really like the look of this horse and he has been progressing nicely. The form of his recent runs are very solid and he has definite scope off this mark. Its a competitive little race this and he may be vulnerable up in class but for one reason or another something puts me off his market rivals. Doncaster 2.55 - Fill The Power 4/1 - Posted as BBOTD - Basically looks progressive against rivals with questions to answer. £1 x 15 Bets = £891.48 :hope

Re: The Saturday Lucky 15 Thread 12.30 Newbury - Simply Ben @ 15/2 Nick Mitchell's runner looks very interesting to me as he goes handicapping over fences for the first time. He's still lightly-raced in general - having had just eight starts to date - but appears especially of interest over the larger obstacles. It hasn't taken long for connections to put a fence in front of him and he looks to have the scope to progress off this mark in chases. He was a good third to Ambion Wood in a novice hurdle last season prior to getting off the mark but was out of his depth in a Grade 2 at Haydock subsequently. Was only beaten 1 3/4l in a handicap off a mark of 115 on his final start of the campaign and that came on good to soft ground. He seems to relish testing conditions so the fact he runs off 117 today gives me every confidence in him. On appearance it looks like anything he did over hurdles would be a bonus as he's a chaser on looks so I reckon he'll prove better than a 117 horse when he gets his conditions. He shaped as if needing the run over hurdles on his seasonal reappearance and had no chance of beating the speedier Highland Lodge and Our Father on his chasing debut. However, he showed he could jump (albeit he was a little inconsistent at times) and stayed on really well on the ground (pulled 25l of the fourth having been last of the bunch down the back straight.) Although the drop down to 2m6f wouldn't be ideal, he'll certainly be staying on and he handles the ground better than most. The track will suit and if he doesn't get too far back I think he'll go very close. 2.25 Doncaster - Barafundle @ 3/1 Well-handicapped on his old form and appears to still have plenty still to offer despite the absence. That's no great surprise as he's still lightly-raced. He's only 3lbs higher than when winning by 7l in November 2010 and ran very well on his return. If he doesn't bounce and comes on for that then he must go close eased in grade and with conditions in his favour. 2.55 Doncaster - Fill The Power @ 9/2 Sue Smith's horse is another who always looked like a chaser and also was pitched into some very hot races in his novice hurdling season. He managed to win two races over the smaller obstacles and finished the season with victory on his chase debut at Sedgefield. He probably needed the run on his return at Wetherby when attempting to give weight to a good horse who goes very well fresh but wasn't beaten far by the 2nd when coming home in third. He ran at the same track over the 3m1f trip again last time out but got much closer when being beaten by 1/2l. That was on soft ground so he's proved he can go on today's surface and that he isn't handicapped out of matters given that was off 5lbs lower. Although he's gone up for finishing 2nd, the front two were 6l clear and the form has worked out. The winner won off 13lbs higher next time out and the 4th was placed in a good Haydock handicap last weekend. The Doncaster track will suit, he jumps well, and a repeat performance would see him go close once more. Dougie Costello takes the ride and he has an impressive 19% strike rate at Doncaster (+54.80 to level stakes). 3.15 Newbury - African Gold @ 5/1 I'm committing the sin of jumping ship very quickly having had a nice win with Bakbenscher just seven days ago. However, that is the reason why I'm taking him on this week. He may well go in again but it was a slog when he won at Haydock and he might just find this coming too quickly off the back of that. I'm not totally convinced that Salubrious wants a slog over 2m5f so I'm going to side with a horse who I know stays well and handles the ground/course. Although he's 3lbs 'wrong' at the weights, African Gold has won three and finished second from his four career starts to date and it was no disgrace to finish 2nd to a good type on his seasonal return this year at Carlisle. That one is now rated 137 and just got first run on my selection. He made no mistake at Wetherby next time and benefited from a more positive ride over this c&d last time out off 118. He wasn't hugely strong in the market but ran very gamely in the contest as he fought off competition to forge clear at the finish. He has stamina in abundance on that evidence so the even more testing ground today should suit. He shouldn't be stopping whereas others may. The first two were 18l clear last time so he's still potentially fairly-handicapped and the 2nd has run sufficiently well (placed) since to suggest the form has some substance (4th also franked it). He had to give weight away to the majority of rivals on that occasion too so it was a very good effort. He's off a light weight here and although he's facing some tougher opponents he does have the credentials to complete the hat-trick. When push comes to shove on this ground I like to be one with plenty of stamina and finds under pressure so with that in mind I think the 5/1 about a proven individual is quite a decent price. 1pt win Lucky 15 (Bet365)
