Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) A pity, but what an incredible run, amazing to top 50 in any 2,000 player event especially considering the quality of the field. Very well played Shaun and indeed everyone, we have shown our strength in depth once again and been great following everyones progress. Look forward to hopefully seeing most of you in Derby at the start of October for the PL-Pis.... er meet up ;)

!Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) Sorry for lack of updates from me. Tried a few times to text from in the poker room but it wouldn't work. Had a few messages back and forth in the breaks with McG and assumed he would post up :spankso didn't try to send to anyone else. Sat down at the start to discover we had the bounty on our table, but his intention was definitely to sit tight until after the re-entry period so we were all on an even footing. My cover was blown early on when the photographer took a pic of the bounty, then turned to me for a photo and asked where did I eventually finish last year! First time I raised, everyone folded! :lol I managed to accrue chips, up about 10k by first break and same again by 2nd break. Helped by AA and QQ twice each, a big pot with AQ (A on flop, Q on turn and another on river). We got moved to the feature table for 3 levels between 1st and 2nd breaks but didn't realise they did the commentary away from the floor so we all thought it was streaming silently. Hopefully it doesn't pick up too much of the players' chat! I had a chance at the bounty some time after the re-entry period. He raised, I think I just called with AQ suited. Flop was A34 (or something similar), he checked, I bet, he pushed all-in. Thought for a while and bearing in mind how tight he'd been playing decided he probably had AK and it wasn't worth risking half my stack chasing the bounty. He showed AK. :ok Shortly after that the table got broken up. :( So I moved from a fairly quiet friendly table where I was chip leader or thereabouts, to an action table with 2 or 3 bigger stacks. Folded a couple of hands after being 3 and 4 bet and then card dead. Dwindled back to around starting stack then managed to double up twice in the last few levels, got up to 100k then blinded back to finish on 87,900 at end of day. Day 2 to follow...

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) We were in the Ricoh Devere hotel and unfortunately drew one of the pitchside rooms which meant we had to vacate by 8am then check back in in the evening. So after leaving home early Friday morning, 12 hours of poker, I managed about 5hrs sleep before we had to get out. Was a little tired going into day 2 although had woken up a bit by the time we started at 12! 342 starting day 2 and they announced 290 to get paid. Table draw has me and Senshi sat next to each other! Only time I get a half-decent hand I'm out of position or have a raise in front so the only hand I played until we get in the money is a cagey blind on blind with Senshi. Table gets broken and I move with about 45k. Forgotten now exactly how it happened, but doubled up at some point, think I went into the break on 100k. At this point Duncan decides to go to the footy match accompanied by wurzel and his mates. I double up again 1st hand back from the break and am suddenly on 240k and average chips. Blinds by now 5k/10k with 1000 antes. A couple of hands later I see a pair for the first time today, 99. I'm early position so I raise for 25k and get 2 callers. Nice low flop but all hearts, although I do have 9h. I bet, (think it was 50k) 1 call and 1 fold. Turn is Ah. I bet again, he thinks for ages, asks what I have left and eventually pushes all in over the top and with most of my chips already in I call. His 10h10 beats my 9h9. :wall It's exactly 3pm, I text Duncan to say I'm out and he tells me to come to the match so 15mins later I arrive just in time to see Coventry go 2-0 up! (a lead which they squander and today sack their manager!) I think I could have got away with some chips left if I'd checked the turn, he'd probably have put in a bet which I'd have simply called, but then I'd have been back to about 5BB and hoping to get lucky on a shove again. So chances are I'm still walking out with £160. :ok Great to meet up with some of the regulars again and some new faces, hopefully will spend longer with everyone at the PL do in October. :ok Well done to everyone who made day 2 and to those that cashed. :clap

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) What a week. Sorry for not finding anyone but with that many folk in the same room i just couldnt see any Punters shirts.. and thought it better to focus on the task at hand. Didnt post updates as I spent the entire tourney on 15-20BBs after a three way pot early on 1b AQ v AQ v AT on an AT693 board.. Thankfully my aggression was met by more aggression and i didn't donk too many. The wicked Structure saved me i think but 49th was the best i could do. £440 return from a 66p satty aint bad though.. HUGE thanks to the tweeters.. Yes i admit i was grumbling at times hoping they wud shut up but they kept me from getting bored and going silly.. Next time imma deffo get some mobile numbers so i can keep up with fellow punters Any news on how each team did overall ?

Not yet I don't think, probably after play finishes as all the big points are up top. Will depend how many still in actually registered in a team. Think it's highly unlikely that we managed to retain it, but we gave everyone a damn good run. Don't think anyone else managed to send 5 teams. Get yourself up to Derby in October and you can meet a whole load of us in one go, always great banter, thread link in my sig ;)

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) There was a list of team cashes in the casino and up to the point we left I believe Champions team were in the lead of the 4 PL teams on about 60 points (with 2 cashers), but other teams were ahead overall. Saw Shaun Williams name on the list of cashers and thought it rang a bell from PL teams, but it had a different team name showing against it, so not sure if admin have got it wrong, or somehow you doubled reg'd in 2 teams.

They cant spell Shaun correctly but i cant see anyone else with the same name. Will be interesting to see how they handle the mess up

I can only see 2 people on their team list who cashed, the Gavin who came 6th and you. So at the moment looks like you have a $1000 GUKPT seat if they don't correct it! :loon

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) Yeah, I've emailed Jen mason at Rank and she confirmed that Sean Williams is in fact me.. There must have been a typo during registration which i have asked to be sorted but that still doesn't explain how i got on that team.

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) After finding one the the Blue Blood team on Facebook, i have found out there were in fact 2 x S Williams registered to play the goliath. Shaun Williams - Punters Lounge Sean Williams - Blue Blood South I "Think" the event organisers have given my points to the winning Team by mistake.. Good luck sorting that out

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) I doubt it somehow.. If the points stand i would suspect that would go the the Sean Williams as he was registered in there Team.. Its a clusterfeck of epic proportions and I have no idea how the hell Ranks gonna fix it..I believe the winning Team have already been awarded the trophies, so wud assume those tickets have been issued also

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) There's a Goliath team winners freeroll in the GCasino lobby tomorrow for Team Gonk. The headline on the GUKPT site still refers to Team Blue Blood South but there doesn't seem to be any other info about it, so I guess they've amended the result.

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) Got an Email the other day and forgot to post details.. Basically my points were allocated to the wrong S Williams.. Email from Jen Mason read as follows. Hi Shaun, Thank you for getting to the bottom of it - and I am sorry for the trouble this has caused you. The problem was your name's spelling on the CardRoom Magic registration system, which generated the (very large) lists of entrants and exiters and from which we cross-referenced the teams from the Team Entrants List. Your points have now been accredited to your team - Punters Lounge B. Please find attached the list of individual finishing positions (updated to reflect the correct spelling of your name) and the new team totals - which unfortunately for Blue Blood South now show Team Gonk to be the winners. This strange set of circumstances provided a perfect storm for misunderstanding and incorrect totalling - apologies again for the trouble and I hope you found the Goliath itself to be an enjoyable experience. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. Best regards, Jen Mason Screenshot of attached Team placings GoliathTeamScores.png
