Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March *Owner Occupier - Towcester 3:00* Chris Gordon has come to life over the past couple of weeks and Tom Cannon is riding very well. This horse is a C+D winner and ran well when 2nd last time out. Barton Cliche is favourite but is poor value in my eyes as was beaten by Nozic last time out who is an ancient horse and has never won a race, i think my selection must have a big chance in this small field. *1 Point WIN @ 9/4 Ladbrokes BOG*

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 2:15 Lingfield - Red Somerset - Back By far the most consistent in this field and seems to have found his level nowadays. Had won his previous 2 before being narrowly denied the hat trick when 2nd lto. The opposition looks very beatable here though and I take him to get back to winning ways 1pt win @ SP

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 2.45 lingfield GRAYLYN VALENTINO @ 10/1 BOG bet365 Unexposed type the ran really well in a muddling affair on hcap debut, will come on for that run and likely to get a stronger pace in todays race. The step up in trip seemed to suit last time and dropped 2lb today which will also help. Trainer doesn't have many flat runners but is 1/2 at the track, 10/1 looks big and I expect to see money for it tommorrow.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 16.30 Towcester: Chac Du Cadran, 2/1 Bet365, 1pt win Chac Du Cadran won on his only start at this course. That was back in November and was three furlongs shorter than today's distance of three miles. He has raced over three miles three times, being beaten by only a few lengths twice in stronger races. The good ground will suit. The trainer has a decent record here, with 9 winners from 52 runners, and regular jockey Tom Messenger is in the saddle.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March DEAR MAURICE (16:45) hasn’t won since June 2008 and hasn’t been seen for 132 days but has slipped to a career low rating and has a decent enough chance here I feel, especially as he’s usually pretty consistent when coming off a break. With a useful 7lb claimer making him look extremely well-handicapped, he’s worth a go. The selection hasn’t won for a while, that was when trained by Ed Dunlop and he obviously hasn’t lived up to a 240,000gns price-tag. Since joining Toby Coles, he recently put in a couple of fair efforts in low-grade handicap hurdles, and also wasn’t disgraced off higher marks on turf on the flat last season. That was over a little further than this but he’s adaptable regarding trip, having often shaped in the past that this 7f might be his ideal distance (stays on well over 6f). He has previous course form around here when coming off an absence, and I think it could be that he’s definitely best when fresh. Yard are amongst the winners and although I’m always a bit apprehensive when backing a fairly inexperienced 7lb claimer, Noel Garbutt rides Lingfield extremely well, having a 3/4 record at this track in 2012 and that included a 33/1 winner. This is a competitive enough heat but it’s a race that isn’t likely to be run at a furious gallop, which will inconvenience many of these and it could definitely spring a surprise. Dear Maurice seems to enjoy the polytrack and should run well off a break as he has in the past, well-drawn today, he’s a different angle into the race but is well worthy of a bet, as if he puts it altogether (which I think is entirely plausible) then he’s too big a price to go un-backed. 16:45 Lingfield – Dear Maurice; 1pts @ 25/1 Ladbrokes, William Hill (bog)

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 14.45 - Lingfield - Emman Bee 0.5 EW @ 12/1 Bet365 Nice competitive race here and i have decided to go with Emman Bee. Back into handicap company after finishing a close 2nd in a maiden at Kempton last time out, she's off what could be a very competitive mark here especially taking into account the 7lb claim of Darren Egan, who's had a couple of decent priced winners of late. She's goes back up to a mile today after a couple of trys at 7f which should be no problem, certainly in with a good chance of placing in my opinion.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 2.45 Lingfield Masters Blazing went very close lto over this distance and he has his best chance today of his lowest mark. Has a decent draw and has a very good jockey on board. Stable had a winner last week and with the visor on this looks to be a very winnable race at a decent price.Be interesting to see if Kirby tries to lead them as that tactic was tried over further the last time he ran here when he weakened over the extra two furlongs so he might just try to steal this from the front. 1 Pt win 8/1 Bet365

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 16.15 Lingfield: Amazing Win @ 9/4 Boylesports Amazing Win has a big chance to continue her good form and to make it 2 from 3 this month. She won well three weeks ago at Kempton, and also looked likely to follow up that success two weeks later, travelled very well, tried to make all but was just ½ lengths beaten at the end and finished third. Nonetheless a strong performance that makes her the horse to beat today. Lingfield plus a small field is well known for races run with a slow pace and therefore I assume it will be a big advantage to race in a prominent position today. Amazing Win will probably try to make all and I think that can be a useful tactic here.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March « 5:00 » Towcester MON 26 MAR 2012 LADBROKES ROULETTE HANDICAP CHASE (CLASS 5) (5yo+ 0-95) Winner £1,819 Good 2m3f110y Number of runners: 9 LONESOME BOATMAN to win @ 4/1 bog (Bet365 and many more) My first top bet since I started recording my bets here (terrible stats so far but it happens so we just look forward for the next winner). Lonesome Boatman is a 12yo son of Old Vic and is the eldest of the group here. Even if he is so old he didn't have so many runs so far and achieved very little but still enough to entitle him for big race today imho. He's a former PTP winner and is a track specialist (ran half of his races under rules here at Towcester). His only win under rules came in this race one year ago when he had a slow start as usual but with a good run in the final stages beat quite easily Monsieur Georges (who easily won next time out). As written above that was the Lonesome Boatman's first win under rules at the 16th attempt and he never won again since that race but after a poor last run a couple of weeks after that success the horse had a long break and came back on track just two months ago. He was pulled up at Fontwell first time out this season but went on to finish 4th in his next start at Hereford and back to his favourite track here at Towcester and back up in trip (from 2m1f to 2m4f) he went very close to win 11 days ago when really unlucky (head behind Zouti) as he probably would have collared the winner if he had been more fluent at the last two hurdles. He was soon taken out again for a run over a shorter trip (2m1f again) at Chepstow one week later (4 days ago). He didn't get a good start and was soon tailed off and was travelling not well at all in the first half of the race then he finally settled and flashed home with a superb finish in the last couple of furlongs coming from nowhere to take 4th close home and would have won if there were just 100 yards more. That day he was well backed and sent off as the 9/4 favourite of the race and that's not a case as he was very well backed also when he won this races one year ago (showing a 15-race losing run before that race he was sent off as the 11/4 favourite) and the same happened at Towcester when he was an unlucky second 11 days ago (9/2 his odds). All his last efforts have been over hurdles and today he's back over fences but that's not a problem. Form is at his top, loves this track, has been surely trained to have his peak in this period and 20f will surely suit. He's off a 7lb higher mark compared to last year but his recent form over hurdles showed he's at the top of his game (went from 69 to 78 in the rating over hurdles after his last two good efforts in defeat) and with a clear round of jumps and a better start he should be there or thereabout in a race where there is little to be worried about. The main danger and current market leader is Cecily Parsley who is a 6yo daughter of Fantastic Light trained by Hughie Morrison. The mare has had 4 poor races in 2009 on Flat (rated 57 and never closer than 12L from the winner beating no more than a couple of other runners home in all her first 4 starts) but after a very long break Cecily Parsley showed something good once sent chasing. Her first start was at Ludlow (05 Jan 2012) where she finished 5th of 6 16L behind the winner Alasi, then she finished 4th at Southwell 47L behind the winner and in her last start she was a good second at Plumpton 10L behind the winner so she seems improving gets in the handicap sphere off a very low mark of 67 and of course could be still improving as she is very lightly raced but she jumps pretty bad (many errors also in her last two starts) and beat almost nothing (only a super disappointing Sybarite in her second last start and only She's Jolly last time out) so far so for me she's never a good shot at 5/2 (her current price). Of course there are 7 more runners but they really look nothing special. Scudamores' Mr Goofy is the top weight but after his (so far sole) win at Leicester one year ago didn't achieve anything and even if the better ground should help and won off today's same mark one year ago I can't see him a big threat to my selection if my selection runs at his best as I suppose he should be able to do today. Longsdon's Crystal Prince was well beaten in this same race one year ago and can't see any reason why he should reverse that form today. Billy Murphy collected a bunch of seconds but is still maiden, fell last time out and is 5lb higher than his last second. Twiston-Davies' Papradon won off a 3lb higher mark on fast ground at Worcester last August (2m7f) but he never matched that form since and should be soon almost at his best after a 104-day break to win this race something I strongly doubt. Opera Og represents Venetia Williams but has shown nothing so far but falling everytime. Bohemian Rock won a race over this track but was well beaten (3rd) in this race one year ago off a 3lb lower mark and even if it comes here in good form (second and third in its last two starts) there is no reason to trust him more than my selection. My Faithfull Annie won a minor handicap chase in first-time cheekpieces at Huntingdon in January but failed to match that form since and there's a reason why she is at the bottom of the betting market at the moment. So a favourite with plenty of doubts, a couple of horses already well beaten by my selection one year ago in this same race, a couple of horses who never matched the form of their last wins while Lonesome Boatman is surely at the top of his form, won this race one year ago, ran two very good races in defeat (both very unlucky) in his last two starts and knows this track better than anything else. Top confidence bet for me.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 500 Towcester; Mr Goofy 1pt (6/1 Bet365, BetVic) Had this one in the DHRC when he ran at leicester last time and was impressed by his jumping, he was well up there until lack of fitness told over the last two fences and faded into 8th. That was his first run since August and should be a lot straighter this time and drops back half a mile so has the stamina to get up this hill. The ground has to be on the good side at least for this horse and its drying out all the time so by the time the race starts it should be perfect. The opposition are very moderate indeed and he should be up to winning in this grade.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March Jockey T.Murphy has a nice book of rides but i'll side with him in the last at Towcester. The 5yr old only has the 1 run under his belt and ran a good 4th last time out 29 days ago and could improve. That run was also at today's track and Timmy took the ride that day and gets the leg up for the 2nd time for trainer J.Spearing. Both ground and trip will suit and sure to run another good race with a chance of some take home pay. Towcester 5:30 - Pearls Legend. 0.5 e/w bet @ 6/1 Hills. Enjoy your Day.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 4.45 Lingfield Joe Le Taxi - has become very frustrating to follow but he's running off 63 and he is going to shit up off this mark at some point given he won off 9lb higher last year. Has Fanning on and an inside draw to assist so here's hoping. 9/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 2.45 Lingfield - 1pt win Hill Of Dreams @ 16/1 (PP) Dean Ivory's charge seems really overpriced here - for all this is a competitive handicap over a mile. This horse is relatively unexposed with only four runs under his belt. He didn't show much on his debut, but the yard aren't really known for first time out winners - and I think the maiden he was 5th in next time was quite decent relatively speaking. Proved this true when winning quite nicely on his third start over a mile from a subsequent winner, and on that his current mark doesn't look restrictive. A slow start over 7f last time didn't help, especially as he seems better over a mile, when he finished behind quite a nice type at this level who is thriving at the minute. He wasn't beaten that far, and the step up in trip will suit him here. I don't think this mark is beyond him at all, and if he gets out on terms, should go pretty well at a nice price.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 1730 towcester 1 pt win follow the facts 9/4 pp another henderson flat newcomer is introduced today, trainer has a near 27% strike rate in this type of racing, and david bass takes the ride and he has a 20% strike with the trainers horses, although a little worrying that he has a 8% strike rate with national hunt flat races, this be due to him getting horses that are not the stables first choice

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March EXKALIBER 3.45 Lingfield. 0.5 points each way. Early season form a bit up in the air, and even with newcomers you never quite know what to expect and all is based on word of mouth. We're bred for this surface and the trip should be ok, so with the favourite looking the part on paper, but yet having to prove anything, we could pop up at a decent price. 18/1 Victor Chandler (bog)

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March 4.45 Lingfield Cuthbert 1pt win 18/1 BetVictor This horse does not win very often with his last win coming over 2 years ago, but he is undoubtedly well handicapped. He is on a career low mark and should strip much fitter here with a recent run under his belt. The jockey takes off 5lbs which is handy and he is a previous CD winner.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March Ling 4.15 - Absa Lutte - win at 6/1 bog BVictor Fillies handicap here that shouldn't take much winning - Absa lutte has a good turn of foot in these lower grade races, won last time out and has won off higher marks than this in the past. The race could be run to suit with a front runner in Amazing Win to take them along and a 'presser' in Strictly Pink to hassle ther front runner Could be set up for a late run and that's just what Absa Lutte does best

Re: Best Bet Of The Day Monday 26th of March Lingfield 4.45 - Not My Choice - 15/2 On at 20/1 so been a lot of money for this one today. Lost his way some what last season but returns here for a yard in good form looking very well handicapped. Course and distance fine and well drawn to make all here. Jockeys only ride on the card and money suggests he's ready for this, if getting an easy lead i think he'll go close.

Puzzled. Didn't understand the adopted tactics. The horse performed so well from the front or prominent ridden the last two races. But today, in a 6 runners field, probably with a slow pace, the horse raced in fourth or fifth position, a few lengths off the pace. Why? No chance from that position, however the front-running Strictly Pink won it. Amazing Win still ran a fine race to finish third from that unfavourable position in my mind. Btw, well done Richard with Catherines Call! What a price! :clap
