Poseidons Secret - Ludlow 3:20 I cant have the favourite Rileyev in this race. It won last time out but just about and this is a better field, it has a penalty and its a very hard horse to win with so there has to be value against this favourite in my opinion. My selection is having only its 2nd run for its new yard, it is now with the Panvert stable. I think the availabl 33/1 is very big for this 8 horse race with a poor enough favourite and this animal has won over this trip of 2 miles before, and that was on heavy ground at Plumpton back in 2008 and the ground will be soft again tomorrow. Its run last time out was its first run since 2009 so it needed the run and should come on leaps and bounds for it. It is also fairly handicapped, runs off 103 tomorrow but was a good 2nd at Fontwell back in 2009 off 105 and Danny Cook takes of a further 3 pounds. I think it has a fair e/w shout! 0.5 Points e/w @ 33/1 (Bet365) BOG

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb I'll take my chance on Donald McCain's runner in Race 3 on the card, he's a lightly raced year old who won a nice race back in Sep 2010 be it for John Oxx. Its his first run for Mr McCain but they must think something of him as he holds an entry in the JCB at the festivial, maybe this is just a blow for the festival but i'll have a wee go on him. Jockey Jason Maquire takes the ride, both trip and ground should be up his street if he's fit to race, if he does not win today he's worth a follow up at Cheltenham next month. Doncaster 3:10 - EMRANI - 0.5 e/w bet Keep yur eyes on the prize.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Kempton 8:05 Ongoodform 20-1 BET365(BOG) 0.5pts EW Kempton regularly throws up big winners and this one here fits the bill for me. Take its last run out last month as this horse doesnt run well fresh. With this run under his belt the reason why this horse caught my attention is its regularly performed well in 6f sprints on GF ground in higher class and off a higher mark than today. This is a competitive race and this horse's price says it all but he could run well if everything falls into place. I think the 6f on the quick ground around here will be ideal for this horse. Trainers horse are running to form, jockey is pretty good and this horse could come from under the radar and surprise the others.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Snap! 8:05 Kempton - Ongoodform - 1pt @ 20/1 (Bet365 - BOG) Doesn't exactly live up to his name but I think things should be ideally run to suit here, and if he can run to his name, he'll be there or thereabouts. Ongoodform ran in some very decent contests during his 3 year old campaign in 2010, but failed to win any. However, he's dropped to a potentially attractive mark of 79, handles conditions and should be suited by the drop to 6f, having pulled hard last time out over 7f. That run was 3 weeks ago, but came on the back of a 6 month lay off and he's surely entitled to come on for the run. His All-Weather form at this trip reads ; 3-2, and it'll hopefully be followed by a "1", which would be his second in 16 runs. He often takes a very good pull early on, so the drop in trip is bound to suit assuming they go quick enough from the front. He's not well drawn in stall 3, but that may force hold up tactics, something which I believe would suit him if he's on one of his good days, when he often travels with lots of menace. Paul D'Arcy trains Ongoodform, and his yard are certainly in good form, with lots of winners since the turn of the year and many others performing well. This is his only runner of the day, although his record at this track is uninspiring. Liam Jones takes the reins, like he did last time out, and he's a very capable jockey in my opinion. The 20/1 available here is much too big and I marked him up as a 12/1 shot, with claims of being shorter. The favourite, Clear Praise, is clearly on an upward curve but may well prove vulnerable under a 6lb penalty, and doesn't tickle my fancy at 7/4. There's a few others with claims at decent prices but Paul D'Arcy's charge strikes me as one who's severely overpriced and holds a good chance if both the drop in trip and race fitness work as expected.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 0.5 e/w Lord of the reigns 5.35 kempton @sp an absolute wide open contest here,im putting up Lord of the reigns to grab at least a place but hopefully 1st place,Lord of the reigns is a course and distance winner and has won 9 times over this 5 furlong trip all class 5 or better races(this is class 5)has won off weights higher than is carrying today, should go off 7/1 or better(probably much better),lord of the reigns was slow away last time out but was finishing well enough,i think if it was in contention last time would have had a bit more in the tank. good e/w chance

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Always said I would never do this but I need a big priced winner to get me into the top 16 and so I am selecting one I quietly fancy toady. 5.15 Doncaster Athough I think bumpers are a lottery they do throw up some decent priced winners if you can find them and I think Victor Hewgo fits the bill here. Beautifully bred and from a stable that is on fire he should have every chance of going very close. In fact the stable almost had a big priced winner a few days ago until pipped at the post. Hopefully he will run a big race here. 1 Pt win 14/1 Bet365

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 3.20 Ludlow Tyup Pompeii 25/1 bog bet365 Loves it round here and is a multiple winner at Ludlow at around this distance. On his lowest mark for years and down in class and if he retains any of his old ability looks a decent bet at a good price. Only risk is has age crept up on him after some recent poor runs but these were over shorter. Think I will give him one last chance today with everything in his favour.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Some nice novice races today, the most competative being the juvenile race at Donny. Jubail has had a break after three good runs at the start of the season and sets the satndard on his win over Plan A at Kempton. Comedy Act is respected but has been a talking horse so far and Moose Moran was a slight disappointment on his debut. McCain has s debutant just to confuse matters even more. At the prices I think Jubail represents a bit of value and a long as he doesnt just need this must surely be in the frame. Bets; 310 Don: Jubail EW (15/2 VCBet)

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 1:50 Lingfield - Hoover - Back I think he's going to clean up here!! He ran an absolute belter last week when 3rd on debut over today's c&d. That was slightly unexpected judging from the market as he was 50/1 that day, complete reversal today though as he is long odds on. That looked a stronger race in depth than today and it's hard really to see what's going ot beat him. Elusive Love the obvious 'danger' but he looks quirky and unlikely to be good enough to beat Hoover here as Hoover should come on for that run last week. In truth he'll probably win this race if he runs exactly the same race as lto. As long as he doesn't get locked up in a vacuum swinging for him, Hoover will suck up everything in his way here and land the spoils 1pt win @ 4/7 William Hill Bog

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Ludlow 4.20 Ballabrook EW - 8/1 Lads Ballabrook's been disappointing this season, but actually in far better form than most of these and could run a race here. Record at Ludlow reads 1,2 and when 2nd he was unlucky to lose by a head. Should stay the trip and jockey is very good value for his claim.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 5.15 Doncaster: Hackpenbay 0.5pts e/w @ 25/1 Bet365 BOG This horse has a big chance here IMO. Ran well on debut to finish runner up in Lingfield AW bumper although the strength of that race is debatable, however the next time out run when 2nd in AW bumper at Southwell is solid form (this jockey took ride) - winner went on to run really well next time out in hot Ascot bumper and the 3rd home that day has since went on to win twice in bumper company. LTO run was disappointing when quite well backed, however can be ignored IMO as lost place fairly early in the race and was struggling to get going again so definitely isn't the horse's form. Sam Thomas rides really well in bumpers and has also got the best tune out of this animal from it's three runs to date, therefore 25/1 looks huge IMO.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Lingfield 4.30 - Lewyn 1 pts win @ 9/4 with Bet365 Has been running ok without getting in front but I think has the ability. Was sent off fav lto finsihing 3rd of 6 which was a bit dissapointing. The blinkers go back on today & tongue tie is off so Im hoping the headgear changes may have a positive effect.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 14.35 Doncaster Beshabar Was travelling well lto when being hampered at the 2nd last and unseating his rider in what looked a stronger race then this. Has a 50% win rate including a class 1 win and a clear run today should land him another win in this class 4 race! 1pt win Beshabar @1-3 (will Hill) bog

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb doncaster 4-10 -ackertac win 5/1 w/hill Unlucky when bought down at Cheltenham in december when making an eyecatching move into the race, well supported that day race won by Lush life, earlier form behind Cross Kennen at the same track looks good form when you consider that horses win on saturday beating the likes of Bensalem. supported in the market today and racing of a mark of 127 is well handicapped in my book.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 5.35 Kempton Absa Lutte has been hard to predict recently she has been running well enough to suggest she is capable of winning again, btu wide draw did her in last time out as she lacked cover and was keen and similar story today unless they go a good gallop upfront today, although tongue tie is refitted today and looks well handicapped having won a 3lb higher mark and Baker is a very interesting booking after youngapprentice ridden her a lot recently. Estonia has to still be of interest off bottom weight in this handicap, still lightly raced and going the right way in the handicap sphere winning 2 in a row and then 2 good solid placed efforts since, including last time out when going the longest way round and hanging quite badly and might be worth a try this way round jockey also reported she felt sore and has since had a month off and could easily bounce back and she looks a real improver. 1pt win Estonia 7/2 bet365

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 7.35pm @ Kempton 'Songjiang' 11/8 Havlin heads here today just to ride this one, looked good winning easily last time out, finished further in front (and less pushed to do so) of Gower rules than 2nd fav Blue Cossack. Other danger looks to be Ya Hafed, who beat one of Johnson's most poor horses 'Baileys againcourt' (beat again yesterday) so form nothing special. Don't see this Godsen horse beaten tonight. Price reflective but 2 winning naps in a row will keep me in profit :dude 1 point win

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 8.05 Kempton - FALASTEEN 1pt Win 15-2 Hills Clear Praise hosed in last time and I have him around 6lb well in going by my speed figures and he will be tough to beat today but regrettably his price is too short so I am going to side with FALASTEEN who could be very well handicapped and the fact that Jamie Spencer goes there for this one ride suggests he is fancied to go well. There has also been a little bit of support in the market as well so I am expecting a good run tonight

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 2.20 Lingfield - South African Gold (5/1 Bet365) 1pt Win Not so good last twice, but capable of winning off this mark and now just 1lb higher than when successful over C&D three runs back, could go well in race where most have questions to answer.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 4.10 Doncaster Phare Isle 33/1 Stan james Much improved performance 2 runs ago and then disappointed last time out stepped up in class heavy ground. Possibly didn't like the ground that day so i'll give him another chance here in what is a very competitive race.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 3:10 Doncaster Moose Moran 1pt win - 7/2 (VC) A lot of Henderson's fto juveniles need the run so I'm willing to give Moose Moran a chance in this moderate looking contest. Was sent off the well backed evens favourite last time out but tired towards the finish of a strongly run race. Should come on for that and the experience has hopefully done him good. Smart flat performer too, will be surprised if he's not capable of winning a race like this at some point.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Hades 3.10 Doncaster. 0.5 points each way. Needs to show improvement after his debut, but showed enough to suggest he can get involved in the outcome of this. Handles the ground and the trip's fine (questions to answer for any), so with being a nice price would appear to be worthy of an each way bet. I'll take the 22/1 with Stan James.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb LOTHIAN FALCON 3.40 Doncaster. 0.5 points each way. Needs to be a bit better than has shown in recent starts, but certainly capable of better and this trip and ground suit. Drops to a mark of 119 for this, which on my workings gives him every chance of going close, so if running to best than he should go well. Age is creeping up on him (12) and so hardly open to improve, but I just feel this race is just about within his grasp if on a going day. Price makes the bet. 16/1 with Paddy Power for comp purposes.

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 4.30 Ling - Colorus 1pt win 13/2 Paddy Power Seen as something of a Southwell specialist but probably because that's where its done most of its racing. Has won on turf on Gd/frm and placed at wolves in the past and has had a run at ling albeit btn 7L but that was in a better race so shouldnt be a problem today. Good effort lto at southwell btn only 2L and only 2lb higher today and could give good account today

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb Fairyhouse 3.45 - Coolcashin - EW at 25/1 BOG with bet365 Been too busy lately to get stuck in to all weather racing, so I'm having a flutter on the big chase of the day Coolcashin usually runs in these grade chases over in Ireland at a variety of trips, but I think todays 25 furlongs should be ideal. He lacks the pace for the two and a half milers and didn't appear to stay three and a half miles last time under topweight in a handicap. It was a good run though as he was right there till weakening in the finish He's won at the track and he's won on heavy ground He also seems to thrive on racing as his last few wins have come when he's had a recent run under his belt, maybe he takes a bit of getting fit. That handicap was about 3 weeks ago Today looks a bit easier than some of the races he's run in recently behind the likes of Kauto Star, Tranquil Sea and China Rock

Re: BBOTD - 23rd of Feb 4.10 Doncaster - 1pt win Ackertac @ 7/1 (Sportingbet) Previously improving Nigel Twiston-Davies runner, before flopping in a big Kempton handicap hurdle - won by James De Vassy - in mid January. No real excuses that day, other than perhaps the trip being a touch on the sharp side. Was beaten 71l, though. Seems to prefer good ground - but it was only good/soft that day, and it is the same today. Shouldn't have run that flat. The NTD yard were in poor form, though, and now seem to be hitting a little bit of form again. If you ignore Ackertac's latest run, it was showing consistent improvement. Two comfortable novice wins were followed by a decent 5th behind Cross Kennon in a listed handicap at Cheltenham over 3m2f, just fading out of the picture. Looked unfortunate at Cheltenham behind Lush Life, when making headway going well enough, when jumping excellently, but unfortunately straight into trouble and was brought down. Hopefully can bounce back here, at a decent price.
