    Norwich vs Bristol City
Firstly, how are your nerves, @TOTTI3?  I bet you loved seeing Steve McClaren pathetically throw that water bottle on the floor repeatedly with rage! Well in! Secondly, my first preview for the weekend action is this 3pm kick-off between Norwich and Bristol City at Carrow Road this Saturday afternoon.
Norwich put the shock defeat to Preston the other week firmly behind them at the weekend with a convincing 4-0 obliteration of Bolton away. Daniel Farke's side put to bed any suggestions of a collapse and returned to winning ways to make it 3 wins from their last 4 league games. The Canaries hold onto their top spot in the Championship and everything is looking rosy for the team again.
Bristol City are seemingly unstoppable right now. Lee Johnson's team appear to have found a secret cheat code to winning Championship matches. It's now 7 league wins in a row for the Robins. The big question now is how will the 1-0 loss at home to Wolves in the FA Cup at the weekend affect their league form? The club has shown repeatedly this season that they struggle to bounce back after a defeat with a loss leading directly to another loss 4 times this season. Right now, City are in 6th place and the in-form team in the league. This is their toughest test so far this season though.
The head-to-head record doesn't make for pleasant reading if you're a Bristol City fan. Norwich are undefeated in the last 7 meetings between the two teams. That means the last taste of victory for Bristol City in this fixture was back on 7th February, 2009. That's over 10 years ago! Time bloody flies when you're getting dominated in a fixture.
Anyway, it's a big risk to bet on this one but I'm feeling brave this week. Norwich have generally served me well in the betting over the years so I'm taking a punt on them here. I think they're a team looking set for promotion to the Premier League. I think it's great. I like Norwich and I think they'll take another step towards a return to the promised land with a win here.

    Cardiff vs Watford
The Premier League returns after a breakk for the FA Cup action and we're treated to a Friday night double header. One of those games is between Cardiff and Watford at the Cardiff City Stadium in a 7:45pm kick-off. Why is it on Friday? Well, it's only the Wales versus England match in the Six Nations on the Saturday and those two can't clash!
Cardiff have experienced a turbulent start to 2019 but now the emotional side of things is subsiding there's an opportunity to maintain focus and build on the back-to-back wins the Bluebirds have earned against Bournemouth and Southampton. Those 6 points gained have proved the critics wrong and kept Cardiff outside the drop zone. Had they lost both of those matches then they'd be 5 points adrift and looking fairly helpless.
Watford continue to enjoy a decent season. Javi Gracia has led his team to 8th in the table and the Hornets booked their place in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals this past weekend. Unfortunately, it's only 1 win in their last 4 league matches so there are slight concerns amongst the Watford fan base that cup distractions have rocked their league form.
These two sides met rather recently on 15th December when it was Watford that came away as 3-2 winners. It was probably a less comfortable score-line than the whole 90 minutes suggested. As a Cardiff fan, I can honestly say that first half was one of the most one-sided displays I've seen my side suffer with Watford really missing the chances to take a 5-0 or 6-0 lead into half-time. However, it did show how easily they could be broken down if we backed ourselves a bit more.
Luckily, Neil Warnock has appeared to embraced a new attack-minded approach and it's paying dividends. We've been the better team in both of the games we've just won and our players are finally playing with a belief that they belong at this level. That's something only a few of them have had. The signing of Oumar Niasse and inclusion of Bobby Reid has also helped. The anticipated return of Victor Camarasa is an added bonus... even though we won both league games without him playing.
Watford have had the better of us over recent meetings with Watford winning the last two head-to-head clashes. We have only won 2 of the last 7 encounters. That said, I fancy us to get something from this game. Confidence is growing in the Cardiff camp. Warnock gave our players some time off with their families to get some perspective, inspiration, and rest. I hope the break does us good rather than damage but I am quietly hopeful we can get a point and even sneak a win here on Friday night.

    Arsenal vs BATE Borisov
OK, so BATE Borisov threw us a curveball last week with their 1-0 win against Arsenal in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 clash. However, we return to the Emirates Stadium for this 5:55pm match-up on Thursday afternoon and I have a feeling we could see a huge backlash from the Gunners.
Arsenal looked lacklustre after a bright start against BATE. The combination of the terrible pitch and sub-zero weather conditions was never going to bring out the best in Unai Emery's men. I think many were still surprised to see them lose the game though. Still, it was only a narrow defeat and one from which they'll certainly feel they can bounce back.
BATE Borisov will be delighted with their first win over an English club in European competition. Igor Stasevich's free-kick was enough to give them an advantage to take into this game. The Belarus side have already beaten MOL Vidi and PAOK on the road this season in this competition so they shouldn't be written off.
I just think this is a game where Arsenal won't under-perform again. It'll be a better pitch, warmer weather, and a more supportive crowd. When this Gunners side get going they are a tough team to play against. BATE will come with one objective and that's to defend to the hilt. If Arsenal can score early then they can open the flood gates. I think it'll be close but Arsenal should win by a couple of goals.

    Schalke vs Manchester City
The first leg matches of the last 16 of the Champions League draw to a close tonight. Our attention turns to the match-up between Bundesliga strugglers Schalke and Premier League table toppers Manchester City in this 8pm kick-off at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.
Schalke are having a season to forget on the domestic front. Domenico Tedesco's men are 14th place in the Bundesliga. Relegation might well be staved off this campaign but qualifying for European competition in 2019/20 is looking remote at best. Not a great outcome for what was a season of high expectations. Still, the club remains in Europe's elite competition but for how long?
Manchester City appear to be a team ready-made to win the Champions League. The financial backing, managerial prowess, quality playing squad, and performances have all suggested this could be the best chance yet for Pep Guardiola's side to take home the elusive trophy.
Both teams made relatively light work of the group stage. Schalke finished as runners up in a group with Porto, Galatasaray, and Lokomotiv Moscow. It was considered one of the easier groups but they still qualified with ease. City lost their opening game versus Lyon at home but then won 4 of their next 5 group games to qualify as group winners.
This will be the third time these two sides have met in European competition. The first time came in the 1969/70 Cup Winners' Cup Semi-Final and the second occasion was in the 2008/09 UEFA Cup group phase. City won the 1969/70 matches with a 5-2 aggregate victory and then won the solitary 2008/09 group stage game 2-0 away.
The omens aren't good for Schalke. City are unbeaten against German opposition in their last 7 Champions League matches. Schalke have also been eliminated at this stage of the competition on the past three occasions that they have reached the last 16.
I'm going to have to back a City win here. Schalke have seemingly turned it on for the Champions League and their results have improved domestically over the past few months. They are proving a difficult side to beat at home having gone undefeated for their last 9 European home games but I think this City side should pinch a narrow win.

leicester needs to win their match but i'm very wary of crystal palace counter attacking threat. they have some very quick and pacey players.

    Notts County - Newport
Not much time left so I'll keep it short.
Notts County look like the bet of the day for me. They have acquired new players during the transfer window and the newcomers are performing really well. Mansfield failed to register a shot on target at Meadow Lane last week and Newport may be heading there at the wrong time. They may take some time to recover from Saturday’s 4-1 defeat against Premier League champions Manchester City. This will be Newport’s sixth match in February and they don’t travel particularly well. They have lost their last seven away league matches, picking up only two points on the road since September.

    Napoli v Torino
Betting suggestion: over 2,5 & both teams to score @2,37 Bet365
Short preview: We tried with Sampdoria to score last time against Napoli, but we’ve seen another clean sheet of Napoli – 3 in a row actually. This time, I am eager to try one more time. We could say that Serie A starts after 3rd place as Juventus (66) and Napoli (52) are far from Inter, Milan, Roma, Atalanta and others with less than 43 points. Therefore, Napoli can play without extra pressure even though they lost 4 points in the last 3 matches. They played in midweek, beating Zurich away with 1-3 and are comfortably waiting for the Swiss club on Thursday. Torino on the other side is holding the 9th position, but Sampdoria is only a point behind, while 5th placed Roma is only 4 points in front, so one solid streak can change a lot. I expect them to play one similar match like against Roma away, without fear, with attacking mind and trying to get as much as possible from the favorized Napoli. I’m not sure if we’ll see any rotations from Napoli’s manager or not, but in any case, he has plenty of quality players on the bench. All in all, I expect Torino to score at least once, but still, I do think that Napoli will be the better opponent and win the match at the end.

Don't really understand the overnight drift on Sampdoria.
+1.0 AH line has gone from 1.88 to 2.03, perhaps the news of Ramirez being out? Saponara is a capable replacement in my view.
    Inter without Icardi.
Key goal metrics and ELO performance is basically equal between the two teams. Sampdoria +1 AH seems like an opportunity here.

    Empoli vs Sassuolo Draw (1:1)
Since Giuseppe Iachini was appointed as Empoli manager the Toscanian team has replicated the results of Iachini's Sassuolo from last season when he was also given a job midseason to lift a team from the drop zone. Both teams under Iachini won 3 times by 1 goal margin, drew 3 times and lost 6 matches from his first 12 games in charge. Sassuolo decided to let him go after the season even though Iachini lifted them from the relegation zone to respectable 11th place with 5 wins by 1 goal difference, 5 draws and only 2 losses from the remaining 12 matches.
Giuseppe's 13th to 18th games in charge of Sassuolo included 5 draws(4 times 1:1 draws, once 2:2) and one win with 1 goal difference. I doubt Empoli are going to lose only 2 games from the next 12 as they are have terrible away form and face Milan, Juve, Atalanta & Roma away + Napoli at home in those 12 matches. However, Sassuolo won 6 drew 6 and lost 6 games vs teams below them last season & so far this season won 6 drew 4 and lost 1 game vs teams below them(in both cases they are 11th).
Empoli has won only 4 out of 17 games vs Sassuolo(3 at home). There have been 3 draws between those teams each 1:1. It is also worth noting that none of those draws occured in Serie A as Empoli and Sassuolo have faced 7 times in the top tier Italian league without a single draw.
I think Empoli are not going to lose this game as they have been a solid home side. If they win, then it may be with 1 goal difference but odds are low given head to head stats. I like backing 1:1 draw as Empoli is yet to show stability and have worst form from last 6 matches in Serie A.

    Liverpool vs Bayern Munich
It's a classic European night at Anfield awaiting us this evening when Premier League title challengers Liverpool host Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in an 8pm kick-off. Two of the great European sides going head-to-head but who will take an advantage into the second leg of this last 16 tie?
Liverpool face one of their biggest tests this season so far. Jurgen Klopp's side are starting to have questions asked of them. Early eliminations from the EFL Cup and FA Cup plus their first league defeat of the season at the start of January in a 2-1 loss to title rivals Manchester City left many questioning if the Reds had what it takes to win a trophy. The fact it's now just 1 win in their last 3 games has seen those doubts multiply by the pundits.
Bayern Munich are also being given a rough ride recently by the media. Niko Kovac's side are chasing league leaders Borussia Dortmund. The gap is now reduced to just 3 points with Bayern Munich in 2nd place but it's a situation they're not familiar with over recent years.
It's certainly Liverpool that have looked the less convincing in the Champions League. Klopp's side scraped through the group stage on the final game. It was only goals scored that saw Liverpool qualify ahead of Napoli. Bayern Munich ensured qualification with a game to spare.
This could prove a tricky tie for Liverpool. It's been clear the impact Virgil Van Dijk has had on the Reds back line since his arrival from Southampton but they'll need to cope without him tonight as he is suspended. The Reds are also without Joe Gomez and potentially Dejan Lovren. This could see Fabinho sitting back in defence to solve their defensive crisis.
Bayern Munich are also without a number of players. Kovac hopes to have Jerome Boateng available despite being initially ruled out with a stomach illness. There's still uncertainty surrounding Kingsley Coman's involvement but Kovac remains optimistic.
Liverpool can take confidence from their head-to-head record against Bayern Munich. The German has only won 1 of their 7 European matches against Liverpool. That solitary win came way back in November, 1971 in the Cup Winners' Cup. To add to this, Bayern have never managed to score against Liverpool at Anfield. The Reds are also undefeated in 19 consecutive matches at Anfield in European competition. To match this, Bayern Munich are currently unbeaten in their last 8 away matches in the Champions League.
I was initially hopeful that Liverpool could win this but the absence of Van Dijk is massive. I think we'll either see Liverpool sneak a narrow win but more likely is Bayern Munich snatching a draw. I can see goals flying in at both ends with Liverpool's defence severely weakened but their attacking prowess could compensate for that. I'm backing a score draw.
