Watching Selby in and amongst the balls was painful lastnight and with Ronnie, you never thought he would miss. 5-3 is a good score for Selby after that despite all the bad contacts etc. Especially considering it was 4-1

I know all about Serena. I've been following tennis for a very long time. All I meant was that you were talking about cashing out if she got into trouble and then she got into trouble and you didn't. It worked out - great - but it won't always be that way. As I said I've followed tennis for a long time and I've seen it all. It's entirely up to you how you go about your business and I wish you all the best, but maybe it would help you in the long-term if you had a plan like the one you had before Serena's match about cashing out and stuck to it.

So you didn't cash out. That's surprising. She couldn't really have got herself into more trouble than a set down and 4-4 0-40. Still, nice result.

I am in no doubt that Ronnie O'Sullivan is the best player in the world on his day, but he lacks consistency. His recent record at the crucible isn't anything to write home about. This is the furthest he has got since losing in the final in 2014 against Selby.
I would love to see him overcome Selby, but I believe Selby is a bad match up for Ronnie and should Selby bring anything close to his A game; I think he will play his rather predictable dogged style whereby he feeds off Ronnie's long game mistakes and wins with frames to spare.

I've seen plenty of strange matches and results over the years so I'm sure there's something in what you say. Either way, whether it's a player that isn't motivated to win as quickly as possible or a player that isn't motivated to win for whatever reason, betting on tennis can be a very tricky proposition - unless you can know for certain what's in the mind of a player before they play which is pretty much impossible.

Maybe you're right, but you gotta keep in mind that there is a wide field of options for good players to fix a match by doing it unapparently. A player who is way above his opponent skillwise can easily beat him anytime by just playing his a-game. That's the beauty of this sport and the main reason why it is so profitable to bet on tennis. That said a 1.15 favorite can easily bring the odds to even by losing the opening set and dropping serve twice like Tsurenko did yesterday. So if this player finds himself down a set there is only one risk: Not finding the switch. If he does he will win the match and has done a great job for whoever wants to make good money.

I sometimes think maybe it's not as sinister as fixing, but that sometimes the far superior player wants more of a work-out than a straight sets win, or wants to go a set behind to set themselves the challenge of winning from behind.

No idea what Tsurenko did in the opener. 27% on serve in the first set and barely winning a point vs a lowlevel player like Palicova is technically nearly impossible. The course of matches like this always makes me wonder if some players just wanna earn some extra money by throwing on purpose. I've seen way to much over the years to buy into the "slow start" argument anymore. Let's see what happens in the decider and if she gets her shit together.

I decided to give some hints between my picks, maybe this is useful for some of you. In my estimation Petra Martic is one of the most stable players mentally in women's tennis. She deserves a lot more credit than she gets from the public and especially from the bookies. For me a clean top10 player, even though she hasn't been there yet. My valuation is heavily based on mental strength and overall game intelligence and Martic is a very smart cookie.

honestly, does it really matter so much to you? It's nothing to do with you. If you don't like what waggy is doing then just don't look at the thread at all. His first post on this thread did say, he will end on August 20th 2020 anyway. Besides, it's up to him if he wanted to even start another new thread with new bets after too. For like years, it's been going on, potus, is there nothing better for you to do than to pick on waggy? Well, glad to know you're keeping safe, potus but it would be even better if you contributed to the forum rather than just criticizing waggy all these years. ??
    Take care, everyone.x

    Shakhtar Donetsk vs Wolfsburg
The second preview of the remaining last 16 matches in the Europa League covers the 5:55pm BST clash on Wednesday night between Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and German team Wolfsburg at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev. The hosts hold a 2-1 lead from the first leg so it'll be interesting to see if the visitors can manage to pull off a come back to turn the tie on its head.
Shakhtar Donetsk appear to have done the hard work with goals from Moraes and Marcos Antonio ensuring the one goal win was sealed in the first leg away back before lockdown kicked in. Head coach Luis Castro will be aware that the club has been knocked out of two of the previous knockout rounds in European competition having led from the first leg. There is no denying that the home form of the Miners has been incredible having lost just 2 of their last 35 competitive home matches. It was a huge contributing factor to them walking away with the Ukrainian Premier League title this season.
Wolfsburg come into this game needing to score at least two goals to progress due to the two away goals scored by Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg. A solitary goal from John Brooks wasn't enough to avoid defeat back in March and it leaves the Bundesliga side with a mammoth task to save their competition. Head coach Oliver Glasner led his team to a 7th placed finish in the league guaranteeing Europa League competition next season. The team can take inspiration from the fact that they've scored in every single one of their Europa League matches so far this season. The club already has experience of winning in the Ukraine this season after beating FC Oleksandria earlier in the competition but they have also lost both of their previous two European matches ties where they have lost the first leg.
This will be the second meeting between these two clubs but Shakhtar Donetsk have played German clubs on a number of previous occasions. In fact, the Ukrainian club have drawn all 7 of their previous meetings with German clubs at home including three of those matches ending in a 0-0 draw. I think they should win this one though against a Wolfsburg side that could well leave themselves exposed at the back as they try to rescue the tie on away soil.

Anyway @notanotherdonkey I've no axe to grind with you. IMO this forum works best when there are different points of view posted which can then be used as a basis to decide what way you want to bet. Like a lot of things in life, betting is all just opinions really and what one person can use in support of a bet is the same thing someone else can use to decide against it

I don't think anybody on here who is reasonable has an issue with criticism or critiquing of posted picks @notanotherdonkey as long as it's done in the right way. For example if you'd countered @Fader by mentioning your thoughts on the h2h and how you thought it might impact the match before it had started that might have been better received.

FWIW I'm a fan of Siegemund. She seems to give it everything she's got and to be quite stable in her performance levels and results - not that I have any numbers to back that up it's just anecdotal.

I've not changed my comment either. The forum is all about people making their own minds up. I don't make people follow me. It's upto them. Time is a big factor for all of us. I certainly wouldn't be criticizing other peoples picks when I have no reasoning on my own.

because it's a fact. We like to have some reasoning on the forum which is something that I should have mentioned to you in the darts posts. Reasoning can't always be in depth but simply saying somebody is going to win isn't enough. Gilbert wasted many chances and wasn't good enough on the day. He wins after going 8-7 up and you change your opinion? seems abit of an odd comment.
Many things go into why I choose a particular bet and I'm not going to go deep into it on every preview but for somebody who simply says "a to beat b" to complain to me about reasoning it quite comical.
