  1. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday November 22nd (Betfair Chase) My concern with SC at the moment is whether he's suited to Cheltenham. I've got him down as a 'speed track' 3-miler at the moment, better on flat tracks, so Kempton, Haydock, Aintree would suit him I fear that something is always going to out-stay him up the Cheltenham hill or he's going to get tired and make a jumping error

  2. Re: Nap of the day sunday 23rd november 2014 2.35 Exeter - Highland retreat - win at 5/4 bog wm hill Novice chase over 3 miles My selection was just about highest rated of these over hurdles and won Listed and grade 2 races As a mare she also gets the 7lb allowance All her wins have come on RH tracks so her seasonal debut at Cheltenham might bring her on and she should benefit from coming to Exeter Has won on heavy going Return Spring looks OK but has been well beaten when running on heavy ground. Kaki de la Pree could be a danger.......stays well, acts soft, has won RH.....and has finished 2nd in a grade 2. Could need a run though after 10 months off, still looks the main danger if he's fit

  3. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday November 22nd (Betfair Chase) Hunt 1.10 - Forward Flight - win at 7/2 bog wm hill With the ground turned very soft it might pay to stick with the provan stamina of my selection who has won over half a mile further and acts on the ground Chase debut and trainer usually improves horses when they go fencing Current favourite has had problems with blood vessels and collapsed after winning last time. This might take too much out of him on the going.....Mission To Mars

  4. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday November 22nd (Betfair Chase) I like the look of De La Bech in the 2.15 at Huntingdon Currently best priced at 3/1 with Wm Hill and others This is a right slog of 3 miles 6 furlongs in soft ground going heavy. My selection was a bit out of form lately but showed signs of coming back last time at Exeter and this time last year he was being talked of as a Welsh National horse. If he gets anywhere his form from 12 months ago he should walk this It looks a very lop sided race this......two horses being my selection and Soudain - who regularly run in this class and better. Then you have the other runners all more at home in class 5 events, really low grade races but a couple of them having won well last time Soudain won this last year but has been out of form so I'm hoping my horse will be the class horse in decent nick I expect my horse to be favourite by the off time.

  5. Re: Nap Of The Day ~ Saturday Nov 22nd Ling 12.55 - Four seasons - win at 6/4 bog wm hill Fairly sluiced home on his polytrack debut last time recording a top speed figure for a 2yo Is the highest rated of these and top on RPRs. After his last run the jockey was very confident he had a good horse on his hands Super Kid from Bin Suroor's yard could be the main danger - he beat a group horse in his maiden and the form worked out really well but he hasn't run for 135 days. Hopefully my selection's current race fitness will see him home

Hayd 3.05 - Vago Collonges - win at 11/10 bog PP Novice hurdle This one comes from the Nicholls yard and was placed in Listed and grade 2 bumpers before taking 18 months off Returned to the track a few weeks ago and finished 2nd in a novice hurdle, winner odds on, pair well clear Quite a few of Nicholls horses have been needing a run early season and improving next time. If he comes on a bit a novice hurdle should be a formality The main market rival is Jonjo's runner making his rules debut. He failed to complete twice in points before winning one. Jonjo's horses often come on for a run and he's also a 4yo at level weights The main danger could be Maximiser who won a Carlisle novice hurdle as he pleased first time out. Has a penalty for that and unlikely that there was anything of the class of my selection against him that day. I guess the main danger could be that my selection 'bounces' on his second run back after a very long break
I want to change my selection BH.......the 2nd favourite is now a non runner and I'm worried I'll get stuffed on the R4.........:wall I'll have this one instead...... Asc 1.30 - Killala Quay - win at 2/1 bog wm hill Novice chase My selection was just about the best of these over hurdles with a win in Grade 2 and a 4th behind Faugheen at the Festival He has a good record of running well after a break and has won RH and on the forecast ground. Puffin Billy seems to have gone a bit backwards so the main danger could be he Skyfarmer from the in-form Hobbs yard. He's been running at an altogether lower level than my selection, mainly winning around the gaffs. Also appears better on good ground so any cut could be against him Thanks

  8. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 20th November 2014 Thurles 1.25 - Drumacoo - win at 6/4 bog PP Novice hurdle The two last time out winners head the market and the race won by my selection looks a much better race than the one won by Couleur France. He jumped well, travelled well and was just pushed out to beat a horse who had won a hurdle last time out Couleur France has the advantage of having won over CD and on soft going so we know that conditions are fine for him. The second horse that day reopposes again. The Mullins horse won a very weak novice race and his jumping has been poor so far but anything from the Mullins yard, particularly one that's already won, might get punted on.......I'll happily take him on.

  9. Re: Nap of the Day - Wrdnesday 19th November 2014 12.20 Hex - Deep Resolve - win at 6/5 bog betvictor Juvenile hurdle Only two of these are featuring in the market and everything else is double figures The two who should fight it out are Deep Resolve and Sirpirtan They've both run once over hurdles and put up similar performances but my horse was the better of the two on the flat and might be able to improve a bit more over the sticks Acts on soft ground and should stay

  10. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 18th November 2014 Fak 1.30 - Southway Star - win at 11/8 bog bet365 Quite open looking mares handicap chase even though there are only 4 runners they all have some sort of chance I'm happy to oppose the hat-trick seeking Jewellery on the basis that she is reportedly quite small and has 12-3 to carry here (minus riders claim). She's never won with more than 10-10 and she's never won over this far or on soft ground. Southway Star is another one seeking a hat-trick after two very easy wins by 16L and 18L. They're getting her out quick under a penalty as the handicapper will no doubt raise her a lot so she's potentially still well in. Handles soft ground, jumps well. Has only recorded wins up to 2 furlongs shorter but should get the trip no problem in this small field........I doubt they'll go a cracking pace. I like Tea Caddy - CD winner, mark looks fine, had a good pipe-opener for the season and won this race on her second start last year. what puts me off is that her only win was in a 3 horse race where the favourite fell and the other was a non stayer........she looks a bit one paced and makes the odd jumping error which sometimes makes her lose places and have to run on again

  11. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 17th November 2014 2.30 Plump - Midnight lira - win at 5/2 bog PP Finished a close up 2nd on seasonal debut and the race report says that she just tired in the finish and was caught on the line. The winner won by 18L next time She's won at the track, won on soft and is just a couple of pounds above her best winning mark usually ridden prominently and front running could be a good option in a small field on a tight track

  12. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 16th November 2014 Font 2.25 - Steel City - win at 10/1 bog wm hill Novices handicap chase Taking a chance on this one having his chase debut and his seasonal debut He's won a bumper and a novice hurdle and is reported to be a nice big horse so hopefully he might be built for chasing Difficult to know if his mark is OK as he's only run in one handicap before and he broke a blood vessel and pulled up, so that's the main doubt Otherwise he'll love the heavy ground (won in it before) and this looks about his trip. The favourite here is Knight of Pleasure but he could be worth taking on - his record so far suggests that he runs well once at the start of the season then goes downhill and he finished 2nd on his seasonal debut last month. On the plus side he is a course winner and has won on heavy

  13. Re: NAP of the day - Saturday 15th November Weth 3.50 - Have You had Yours - win at Evs bog Skybet Small field handicap chase This is a tricky track for chasers because the fences are stiff and mistakes usually get punished. My selection isn't great at the fences but he gets over them and has won around here He ran well last time going down by about a quarter length after the rider dropped his whip. That was over todays trip and he appeared to get home OK although his wins over fences have been over shorter He looks the safest option and is at least in decent form Steel Summit has gone off the boil after winning in the summer Oxalido is 12yo and has only run once over fences - that was 3 years ago and he was pulled up. Might just be coincidence but all his wins have been on RH tracks and he's also not best served by soft ground

Ling 1.30 - Wrood - win at 2/1 bog bet365 I've had a poor run over fences so I'm going back to the all weather........:cry Fillies handicap here and my selection is lightly raced and a CD winner. Won her maiden here and ran well in her first handicap, narrowly beaten from the outside draw and posted a good speed figure All the other fancied ones having been running OK but mainly getting placed of late which suggests the handicapper has them about right........whereas my girl looks still to be on the upgrade
Blimey..........that's my second dead heat in the comp this month..........:eek I wonder what odds you could get on that !.......:lol

  16. Re: Nap of the Day Thursday 13th November Taunton 1.40 - Queen Spud - win at 7/4 bog betvictor Handicap hurdle for mares around 2.5 miles My selections drops back to her winning trip after trying 3 miles last time in a better race The drop in class and return to 2.5 miles should see her in with a good chance, particularly as she could well front run in this small field and the sharp track will suit The main danger in the betting (current favourite) is Prettyasapicture but I'm not convinced she really wants 2.5 miles, she seems better at the minimum trip

  17. Re: Nap Of The Day - Wednesday 12th November Bangor 1.00 – Oscatara – win at 5/2 bog wm hill Handicap chase With the morning favourite, Perfect Candidate, having proved disappointing on it’s 3 runs over fences to date it might be worth opposing him Donald McCain likes having winners at Bangor and Oscatara should have a good chance – won here over hurdles, has won on soft ground, having it’s second run back from a break and was only beaten 4L on seasonal debut in a similar quality race, Dropped a couple of pounds after that outing The fly in the ointment could be Gus Macrea who drops markedly in class after running in the big handicaps. But he has been pretty well beaten of late and hasn’t won for a couple of years
