  1. Re: Nap of The Day - Saturday 20th September 3.15 Ayr - Sennockian star - win at 10/3 bog wm hill Listed 10f race The race revolves around Godolphin's Sky Hunter who was 3rd in the French derby last year but otherwise was unbeaten in France. He's top rated here but has run 2 disappointing races since coming to the UK this season and there has to be a doubt over him now. He's now been gelded and wears a hood so it appears punters are giving him another chance as he's favourite today I'm going with a slightly lower rated animal who's in good form and has trip and ground to suit him after failing to get home in a couple of runs over further. He's been banging his head in the top handicaps all year (managed to win one) so this Listed race might actually be easier.......and he has won in small fields before so it's not as though he needs the hurly burly of big field handicaps to show his best

  2. Re: nap of the day Friday 19th september 2.50 NA - Mr Satco - win at 9/2 bog bet365 With Azure Fly making his chase debut and August Hill having made jumping mistakes in both his chases I'll go with the outsider of the party My selection is a front runner who should be suited by this tight track and so far he's jumped OK in his chase career. Jason Maguire takes the ride on his return from the injury on the eve of Cheltenham and I'm hoping his regular trainers have got some ready for him........he has 3 rides booked today

  3. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 18th Sep. Ponty 4.30 - Bowdlers Magic - win at 10/1 bog bet365 Staying handicap over 17 furlongs Six runners declared and I've looked at them primarily based on which are likely to stay this marathon trip on a stiff track I've concluded that the 2 outsiders are the most likely stayers so I'm looking at the two biggest priced ones in the overnight betting I would be very keen on Madam Lilibet if rain was guaranteed as I suspect she might be a non runner if it doesn't rain.......all her wins have been on heavy and soft. Other than that she won after a similar summer break last season,. her mark looks OK and she's won on this track over 18 furlongs. Everything looks fine apart from the ground.....she's currently the outsider of the field but I think she'd have a great chance if it came up soft, though obviously if it did she wouldn't be the outsider of the field. My selection has looked to be on the downgrade recently and nothing jumps out from his last couple of runs to suggest anything different. However he has gone down again in the weights and drops in class, he'll get the trip, he's run well here before and has some headgear on for the first time in ages, if not ever. This is the worst race he's run in for quite some time, probably ever. He's a plugger-on so the stiff uphill finish might suit him compared to the more fancied ones who I think might struggle to get home.

  4. Re: Nap of the day competition Wednesday 17th September Bev 5.25 - Never Easy - ew at 33/1 bog Betvictor 2yo maiden My selection didn't run great last time.......maybe it was the softish ground or the 6 furlongs His other run, on debut, was quite promising over the stiff 5 at Ponty - he lost ground at the start but made a couple of nice runs during the race before weakening near the finish. That was a 5 runner race and 3 of them won next time out. This less testing 5f track might suit better

  5. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 16th September 2014 4.50 chep - Jupiter storm - win at 3/1 bog Ladbrokes Going to take on the favourite here Fractal is lightly raced and has won his last 2 races but he's up in grade and up 10lbs in the weights, plus he's never ridden on an undulating track, hung right last time at Leicester so may not be at home on a LH track, looks a thorough stayer so might not be suited by this small field if it turns tactical and finally.......trainer said he's had small injury problems so might need more than a couple of weeks between races and might not appreciate the downhill parts of the track if he's had leg problems (to be fair it might not have been a leg problem, but most horse injuries are) My selection is a front runner, CD winner, he's had a bit of a break so should be fresh, has won after a break before.......and should get an uncontested lead. His last 2 wins in handicaps have both been by 8 lengths so it looks like he's quite capable of slipping the field if allowed to go on uncontested

  6. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 14th September 2014 Bath 2.15 - Royal brave - win at 7/4 bog bet365 Won the last time he faced a similar test to this.......5F on a stiffish track on fast ground. That was at Sandown a couple of runs ago and he had 2 of todays rivals behind him. Has run OK twice since over the minimum on sharp tracks which might not suit as he does get 6F and tends to get a bit outpaced mid race before running on Main danger appears to be Flying Bear who seems best on the same conditions as my selection, so should also be ideally suited by todays test. He's had a couple of wins by a neck and a nose of a few pounds lower and looks like the handicapper might just have his measure of his current mark.......or at least he looks handicapped up to his ability whereas my selection has had fewer runs and looks to be still improving

  7. Re: Nap of The Day - Saturday 13th September Wolv 8.40 - Doctor Sardonicus - win at 7/2 sportingbet The new track at Wolves seems to be riding really consistently now after being a bit slow for the first couple of meetings since it was re-laid with Tapeta I'm quite taken with Aet obsession in this race but he's been off the track for 11 months and might need the outing My selection looks well handicapped on his maiden form and possibly found a mile at Newmarket too far last time. Has been dropped a couple of pounds, drops back in trip, drops in class........ Main worry is the other front runner, Conquerant, who could pester my selection if they both try and lead. He won a maiden last time but he's had plenty of goes and might ideally be suited by further even tho' his win came at this trip

  8. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 11th September 2014 1.50 Chep - Skylight - EW at 12/1 sportingbet 2yo maiden Going with an unraced one here from a powerful in form yard which has a good record at the track with 2yo A couple of the ones with experience look OK but a couple of the others that are ahead of my selection in the market don't look up to much and Haggas's horse wouldn't have to be special to be in contention here

  9. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 9th September

Leic 2.50 - Glorious Dubai - ew at 12/1 sportingbet 2yo maiden Only a couple of these look to be fancied in the market and I'm looking just beyond the first 3 or 4 for an EW shot Saeed bin Suroor usually has his newcomers in good order and this one today is entered in next years Derby and is a full brother to the 3 times group one winner Manduro Apart from anything else I'm struck by the name..........Godolphin have lots of horses, would they really call one 'Glorious Dubai' if it was a bit of a duffer ?........part of the reason they're in the game is to promote Dubai !
non runner................. perth 6.00 - Plan again - win at 5/2 bog wm hill Goes well fresh and comes here off a 3 month break..................looks OK handicapped, just 3lbs above last win which was by 3 lengths Market rival and favourite, I C Gold might be better over further and is 15lbs above last winnig mark

  11. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 8th Spetember 2014 Perth 2.50 - Forget and forgive - win at 5/4 bog bet365 This horse has gone off favourite now in his last 4 runs but hasn't managed a win, so the warning signs are flashing ! However this is only his second chase after finished 2nd, well clear of the 3rd, on his chase debut last time out. That was over this CD so no worries about the track and trip. A repeat of that last run could be enough here as neither the second or third favourites today look ideally suited by the easy 20F trip on decent ground, one struggles to get home over 20F and the other appears to need a stiffer test.

  12. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 7th September 2014 York 3.35 - Excellent George - EW at 14/1 skybet 2yo maiden My selection comes from a yard that doesn't have many 2yo winners but he ran a good race on debut finishing 3rd in a Sandown maiden. The winner has since been beaten under 3L in a Listed race, the second has won a maiden at Newmarket which gives the form a decent look Assuming he comes on a bit for his first outing should be able to be competitive here, particularly as I think this might be a bit sharp for some of the market leaders.

  13. Re: Nap of the day competition saturday 5th september Kemp 2.20 - Prince Bishop - win at 8/1 bog bet365 Group 3 September Stakes Group one winner in Meydan who has come over to Kempton twice and won both times in a group 3 and Listed races, including this race last year Won this race last year after a similar 6 month break and goes particularly well fresh Does have a group one penalty which means giving weight to the field but he's the class horse Dandino and Red Cadeaux look past their prime, Cat O'Mountain is 4-4 at the track but they were handicaps, Secret Number hasn't run for a year but is a group 3 winner and might prove most dangerous The other 2 look outclassed

  14. Re: Nap of the Day - Friday 5th September 2014 Muss 6.40 - Lady Frances - win at 8/1 bog wm hill 7F handicap Mark Johnston has 2 in here including the favourite in some lists.......but I fancy his presumed second string Front runner who has the number 1 draw on a tight turning track. Her turf wins have been gained on similar tracks at Catterick and Brighton. Has her favoured ground and Joe Fanning takes the ride His other runner is in the same ownership and is ridden by Paul Mulrennan.......my horse has the lower weight so there's no issue about Fanning not being able to do the weight for the favourite..... Wouldn't Fanning be on the one with the better chance ?.......

  15. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 4th September 2014 2.00 hayd - Rocky Rider - ew at 18/1 bog betvictor 2yo maiden The two at the head of the market here both look pretty useful ( I prefer current 2nd favourite Arabian Oasis over current favourite Dissolution). Both have form in traditionally strong maidens at Newmarket and York But I'm fed up of shorter priced ones getting beat so I'm looking amongst the bigger priced ones for an EW shot My selection is 400,000 guinea yearling owned by Qatar Racing, bred in the purple by Galileo out of a Darshaan mare, has bundles of stamina for this mile trip and the trainer can get them ready first time out

  16. Re: NAP of the day - Tuesday 2nd September 6.20 Kemp - Alpha Spirit - ew at 10/1 bog wm hill 5F nursery My horse has some good maiden form, well franked by the runners around her. For example she finished 3L behind Cursory Glance who went on to win the Albany at Royal Ascot and was 2nd in the Lowther last week She disappointed last time finishing well beaten but there might be excuses for that......first run for 2 months and softish ground and took a keen hold If that outing has taking out the fizziness and she can settle better then she has a good chance here. Well drawn in 2 with a couple of the market leaders out wide. Hooded for the first time today so I'm hoping they'll just let her run having dropped back to the minimum trip......she might get a nice lead from Magic Florence drawn next to her but who looks like a short runner.
