  1. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 13th October 2014 Sedge 4.20 - Saddlers deal - win at 5/1 bog bet365 Only 4 runners in the handicap chase By process of elimination I'm left with the outsider of the party The easing of the ground will not suit Dealing River and Muwalla, both of whom appear to run below their best if there's any 'soft' in the ground. Dealing River might get away with it as he looks a bit classier. Blackwater King looks a plodder,........it's not clear why they persist with running him at the minimum trip. He always gets outpaced. My selection is having his 3rd run since joining the Ellison yard and improved significantly from runs 1 to 2. He did win 3 runs ago over 20 furlongs but would probably have won that day at 16 furlongs. He's won with cut in the ground before and off this kind of mark.

  2. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th Oct 2014 Ffos 2.45 - Mister Grez - win at 11/8 bog PP Hcap chase Looks a 2 horse race on paper with a couple of the outsiders appearing to want better ground or out of form or poor jumpers My selection won this race last year, appears to act on any ground and the yard have got their string in good nick for the early season (6 winners in the last 4 days) Market rival, Frontier Spirit, ran well last time and is also a CD winner but looks to be in decline and a bit one paced nowadays. Might need really testing conditions to get his head in front

  3. Re: NAP Of The Day - Friday 10th October 2014 Carl 3.45 - Orange Nassau - win at 7/2 bog betvictor Handicap chase I'm looking to take on the current favourite, Mazuri Cowboy.......he ran well last time in a better race but he's never been tested for stamina over a 3 miles plus trip and this stiff track should find him out if he doesn't get it. My selection appears to stay all day, goes particularly well after a break and the going is no problem. He's won right-handed. My main concern is that he has no 'stiff track form' so I'm not sure how he will cope with the climb to the finish. Much the same applies to the other main contenders here but my chap has won over longer trips so might cope better.

  4. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 9th October 2014 Ex 3.20 - Green Bank - win at 13/2 bog wm hill Handicap chase My selection won last time out by making all on good to firm ground and I think he could do the same again today on a track that suits fronts runners but is also quite stiff. He's won over further so his stamina is assured The current favourite is American Legend who was a lucky winner last time as all the other horses were impeded by a loose one. The form has worked out but he might not be so lucky this time According to Sarah might not get the trip and Welsh Bard appears to have gone off the boil and might need a break after racing through the summer The main dangers could be the 2 coming back for seasonal debuts, Caulfields Venture and Regal Presence but hopefully my selection can stretch the field out and test their fitness. They both act here and fought out a close finish here in March this year. Regal presence does appear to save his best for RH tracks and good going but he has been fairly well beaten on his seasonal debuts. Caulfields venture starts the season a stone higher than his last winning mark having risen by 25lbs last season. It's a lot to ask a horse to carry on improving at that rate for a second season.

  5. Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 8th Oct 2014 Towc 2.40 - Garrahalish - win at 11/4 bog wm hill Novice chase My selection was just about the best of these over hurdles, very similar level to the two ahead of him in the market. I like that he's won at this track.......it is possibly the stiffest track in the country with a pretty step run to the finish which can catch out a lot of horses. The current favourite is Knightly Escapade who has has won first time out for the last 2 seasons but he does seem more suited to heavy ground The other fancied one is Kitchenapoly who has already won a novice chase but I'm not sure will be suited by the stiff finish and is a 4yo carrying a penalty I'm hoping my horse's stamina will see him home in the finish The other runners look not to have much chance

  6. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 7th Oct 2014 6.05 Kemp - Dark Ocean - ew at 8/1 bog wm hill Ran best race for a long time last time out at Wolves on only his 2nd AW start.......spent most of his carreer running over further on turf The two favourites here are lightly raced 3yo who might be well handicapped or might not and my horse looks clear best of the rest Well drawn.......will probably want a decent pace to run at so I don't want to see them crawling through the first few furlongs !

  7. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 6th October 2014 3.00 Strat - Prince des Maras - win at 6/1 bog betvictor The short priced favourite here, Decimus, looks worth taking on. Although he did win over fences last time his jumping was poor and he doesn't look a natural over the bigger obstacles My selection has dropped down the weights having not won since 2011 but he's been running OK in slightly better races than this the last twice, not beaten very far and staying on over slightly shorter trips Apart from the favourite the other 2 ahead of him in the betting both look to want soft ground and as far as I can see the rain doesn't appear to have got in at stratford yet My fellow is best on decent ground and appears to act at any track.......he's also happy to make the running which might be a handy tactic in this small field on a sharp track

  8. Re: Nap of the Day Competition - Sunday 5th October 2014

Doesn't the race card show the latest odds aswell, mine does? Surely it would show up any NR's then by a blank space instead off odds? Bit strange.
It was still showing the odds on the racecard........it was only when I clicked on 'Compare Odds' that I noticed that most of the bookies had no odds for my horse.......so I went to the Life site and saw it was a non runner Yesterday it was the short priced favourite that was still on the card.......my EW shot was 22/1. I checked the Course reporter thing as the going was changing due to rain and that had reported the NR some time earlier ........but even then some 15 minutes later someone else posted that NR as their BBotD so it presumably stayed on the racecard for quite some time after it had been withdrawn The Life is pretty quick with NRs........the Post isn't !
  9. Re: Nap Of The Day - Saturday 4th October Wolv 8.00 - Siren's Cove - wi at 11/2 bog wm hill On the face of it a decent looking nursery with 3 last time out winners But I'm going for one who looks like he might improve on his nursery debut. Stoutly bred and has run OK in 3 sprint maidens whilst all the time looking like he needs to step up in trip Up to an extended mile on handicap debut with a 7lb claimer employed........it has the look of a horse that's been campaigned at the wrong trip to get a mark Of the recent winners I like Invincible Wish at 6/1 better than Andretti at 11/10

  10. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 2nd Oct 2014 kemp 5.45 - El Mirage - ew at 9/1 bog bet365 basement handicap - most of these are pretty exposed as poor my selection doesn't have a great record either, 2 wins from 24 runs, but she's just setting out on a career as a miler after sprinting and 3 runs to date have given some hope. Has run well twice and last time was poor but was caught out wide at lingfield. Appears to get the mile trip fine Both wins have been on polytrack and she's below her last winning mark

  11. Re: NAP OF THE DAY - Wednesday 1st October 2014 Kemp 7.45 - Masterpaver - EW at 13/2 bog stan james Goes well here and ran 2nd in a good race last time scoring a big speed figure Has had a few weeks off to recover from that fast run Goes into an all aged handicap now and gets the 3yo allowance which can be very useful at this time of year and has a certain R Hughes up for the first time Feel a bit cowardly going EW on such a short price but I'm coming off a bad month and looking for some confidence boosting returns even if they're only small ones......:lol

  12. Re: Nap Of The Day - Saturday 27th 3.20 Ripon - Grey sensation - win at 7/2 bog bet365 Nursery handicap over 8f My selection drops in class from a class 2 at the Leger meeting to class 4 today. In that race at Donny he won on his side by finishing 4th with the first 3 coming up the centre of the track. The form of that race looks good with the winner running in the G2 Royal Lodge today The handicapper has put him down 2lbs for that promising run His maiden win is also looking good with the 4th winning next time and the well beaten 2nd finishing a close up 2nd in a class 2 at Ayr last week

  13. Re: Nap of the day - Friday 26th September 4.25 Newm - Mubtaahij - ew at 16/1 bog wm hill Looks like a decent 2yo maiden with a lot of the top yards represented The ones that have run don't look like world beaters so might be best to concentrate on the newcomers. Mike de Koch hasn't had many 2yo runners since moving to the UK but he has a 33% win strike rate and sent out a newcomer to win here in the summer His horse today is one of the most expensive and has a good pedigree Should be in the mix

  14. Re: Nap of the day Thursday 25th Sept Perth 4.30 - Baileys Concerto - win at 3/1 bog wm hill Decent chaser who's having a crack at hurdling. Won a novice hurdle over CD last time and makes his handicap hurdle debut today. His mark looks fair based on the horses he beat that day. Conditions look fine. Main rival looks to be Handmaid, also making his handicap debut today. He also won his novice over this CD and again looks to have a fair mark on that run but he ran well below that form last time out

  15. Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 24th Sep 2014 3.35 Perth - Solway bay - win at 3/1 bog wm hill Bit of an old timer at 12yo but likes it here at Perth, acts on the ground, won last time and is still well handicapped on his form from last year Probably only has to run his race from last time to have a good chance as his main rivals looks a bit iffy ........Billyben has looked one paced over fences and this might not be a stiff enough test for him. Shady Sadie has been well beaten every start except one, and that was over shorter. Looks the main danger though and seems to have been backed today.

  16. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 23rd Sep 2014 2.10 Bev - Resonant - win at 11/2 bog ladbrokes 2yo maiden over 7.5 furlongs My selection has his second start here after running in what looked like a well above average maiden at Ffos Las. Like a lot of Johnston's runners he tried to make all but didn't quite get home. The Post noted that he was green in the prelims and hopefully will do better with the debut experience behind him trainer has a good record here

  17. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 22nd Sep 2014 3.10 Kemp - Londonia - ew at 33/1 bog Ladbrokes I think I'm having my worst ever month in the competition since I started playing about 5/6 years ago........so I'm gonna try and land a long shot or two This horse comes from Paul Cole's yard and his horses often improve a lot 2nd time out. On debut he finished 6th over a mile here after taking a keen hold. Hopefully they'll just let him run over this shorter trip rather than try to hold him back. The second from that maiden has won since
