Bev 2.25 - Cosmic Dust - win at 66/1 bog ladbrokes 2yo mdn My selection comes from a yard that can improve their horses a bundle from their first run She finished well beaten on debut but is related to winners and has a god draw here I have a theory that the 5F maidens are preety poor in general by this time of the season because all the precocious types have already won their maidens and the new horses coming to the track after Royal ascot tend to be the later maturing miler and middle distance types for next season wh would normally be starting off over 6 or 7 furlongs as juveniles. In other words 5F maidens from now on might not take much winning !

Hayd 8.00 - Ideal recruit - ew at 66/1 bog wm hill 2yo mdn Dascombe's 2yo had a poor start to the season but I saw him on telly recently saying that they had had a problem in the yard early on but had got over it now and all the horses were coming on nicely (shortly afterwards one of his newcomers scooted in at Chester beating a short priced favourite) So I'll give his runner here an EW chance based on that

Hayd 3.50 - Kelly's Dino - wn at 16/1 bog betvictor 7f novice race for 2yo with 6 runners, all of which have won a race Should be informative in putting the early 7f form into pecking order My selection is the outsider and won what was probably the worst race of the field's previous wins but he was very eyecatching.......walking out of the stalls, several lengths behind for the first half of the race before scything through the whole field to win The form doesn't look special so I'm going on visual impression and scope for improvement rather than facts and figures

Pity Cash wins.......easily You could have had 11/10 just before the off...... So obviously made a full recovery from being lame 2 days ago It's like a Little Britain sketch where the fat one gets out of the wheelchair and gets a pint from the bar.......while the other one isn't watching
-
Oh crikey........I wasn't aware of this when I posted but the same trainer had two horses in the 2yo Seller at Thirsk this afternoon He had the odds on favourite which finished 2nd.......and his other horse won at 25/1 Could this be the makings of a system.......look out for David Evans having two horses in a race with one of them odds on.......and back the other one !

Looking at todays 2yo races and in particular the small field maiden at Bath at 6.05 There's an odds on favourite in Pity Cash Now Pity Cash was a non runner just 2 days ago on Monday at Windsor with a Vets Certificate saying she was lame So........can a horse recover enough from being lame in two days to merit going off as odds on favourite ? It just so happens that the trainer has another horse in the race.......the 2nd favourite currently 2/1 Pity Cash is a very unlucky horse as she has been declared 5 times but has only managed 1 proper run.......she's been a NR 3 times with abnormal blood, knocked joint and lame. She also 'ran' at Royal Ascot but the saddle slipped and she was never in with a chance Her only proper run, at Goodwood, looks decent, the best form on offer here But 2 days from being declared lame ? Would you back her ?..........or do you think the stable second string might be in with a good chance ?...... mmmmm.............:unsure It's my kind of race.....small field of 2yo, but I'm leaving it alone !

2.00 Thirsh - master mirasol - EW at 14/1 bog boyles 2yo mdn having is second run. Ran OK first time from a wide draw and being inconvenienced by some horses veering across the track wouldn't need to come on much for the outing to be involved here in a maiden auction race
-
2.15 Ham - Mr Potter - EW at 100/1 bog Skybet 2yo mdn My selection is a big outsider and 4 of these have much better chances on their racecourse experience to date But Hamilton can be a bit tricky for 2yo - downhill first half and uphill second half. In particular it can catch out front runners who go too fast downhill then struggle to hold on when they hit the rising ground. Three of the 4 better ones ran prominently last time so there's always the chance they'll take each other on and open the way for something to run on from behind My selection finished last on debut but it was a good race, a Class 3 maiden at York, A couple in front of him went to Royal Ascot and others have run well in maidens Obviously he needs to step up but if he didn't he wouldn't be 100/1 !

Wolv 3.15 - Lagenda - EW at 25/1 bog bet365 2yo mdn On the face of it my selection has to improve a lot on his debut run to be competitive here but that looked a good maiden race at Leicester ( I'm thinking of backing the winner, Gold Medallion, in the Conditions race at Ponty 15 minutes before this race) My horse got a typical Spencer debut ride. - yanked back at the start, held up, ran on a bit when the race was over. Hopefully the different jockey will be trying to put the horse in the race

-
Uttox 2.00 - Martha's Benefit - EW at 40/1 bog Skybet maiden hurdle my selection has run OK in a couple of mares only bumpers, in particular her last race looked quite a good one with a very promising winner she travelled well and weakened one out hopefully after a couple of runs this season she'll be fitter and run t the line gets the mares allowance and a 3lb claimer
-
Newm 1.45 - Et Toi - win at 50/1 bog Ladbrokes 2yo mdn Going for Meehan's seeming second string here. He's by the Derby winner Pour Moi and has a 3lb claimer up who's won 2 of his last 3 rides for the trainer Meehan's other runner, John Splendid, is the favourite at short odds and has Hayley Turner up Other likely ones - Charlie Appleby's runner Comicas. His runners have been coming on a bundle for their debut runs and he ran 5th here on debut Charlie Hills runner - Ibn Malik - cost a fortune and hasn't got Hanagan in the saddle who seems to have adopted Spencer's policy on 2 year old debutants of yanking them to the back of the field and running on when the race is over.
-
Donc 3.35 - Dance of Fire - win at 16/1 bog bet365 Class 3 mile handicap for 3yo My selection drops back to class 3 after a couple of runs in class 2, last time in a really hot race behind Time Test. Has a good record at Donny with a win and a quarter length 2nd from 2 runs First time headgear might suggest a return to front running tactics which have served him well before.
-
Newc 2.10 - Quick N Quirky - win at 8/1 bog betvictor 2yo Novice race I'm a bit hamstrung at the moment as I can't access all my notes and ratings on the 2yo which I've been following since the start of the season.......those sections of the Post site are unavailable for a week whilst they make the site more difficult to use and more expensive But I think it's worth taking on the odds on favourite here......Gifted Master has some good form in the book and ran 2nd to Coventry winner Buratino last time. But he's been a hard puller and appears to be getting worse with racing. They've gelded him since the last run and if that has calmed him down he should have a favourite;s chance here My selection won a Thirsk maiden on debut, gets the fillies weight allowance and comes from a yard in good form. She looks 2nd best here so 8/1 is a decent price.
-
Sals 2.40 - Dishy Guru - win at 11/1 bog wm hill 'Veterans' sprint handicap My horse is fairly well drawn, acts on the ground, has won on a stiffish track and hasn't got a bad strike rate for a sprint handicapper with 8 wins from 51 starts Hanagan up main downside is that he usually wins in class 5/6 and this class 4........however it doesn't look the most competitive
-
NA 6.00 - Bogoss du Perrett - win at 10/1 bog PP Maiden hurdle My horse made a promising debut over sticks last time, finishing 3rd That was the first time he had encountered decent ground having run all his bumpers on soft so hopefully today's ground is what he needs Was sticking on last time and the extra few furlongs should suit
-
oh........I thought this was going to be an internet forum
-
Wind 6.30 - Willsy - win at 10/1 bog wm hill 2yo maiden usual collection of newcomers, horses who've run a couple of times without winning and some no hopers My horse has run twice. Well beaten on debut but improved a lot on 2nd outing to finish 4th here over CD That form has yet to be tested but it looked decent on paper with some expensive horses and some from the big yards, Hannon, Godolphin etc Channon's runners often improve with racing and I don't think my selection will have to improve much to be in with a shout here
-
Hex 3.00 - Flemerina - ew at 22/1 bog betvictor Novice hurdle Looking beyond the penalised runners and market leaders for something that might outrun it's odds My selection is a mare and gets a stone from the penalised geldings Has plenty of stamina and might be suited by this stiff track. Didn't run too badly in a bumper last time beaten about 7 lengths on a flat sharp track which wouldn't be ideal3.45 Gowran Park: Handicap, 7f Strong and competitive handicap with some highly rated individuals in the line-up, though not all too many appear well handicapped. If Vastonea would have been showing any sort of form lately he would be interesting here, only 2lb above his Galway Festival winning mark, but the way he's going at the moment, I'll leave him alone despite a tasty price. Ken Condon's Strait Of Zanzibar is sure to run his race with conditions to suit. He's rarely running a bad race but for that reason seems stuck in and around marks mid-80 which he may be able to win off, but everything has to fall right in order to do so. Favouite Laviniad has been on the upward this season and may be able to overcome a big rise in the weights, however the drop to 7f is a concern. Have A Nice Day has also been progressive lately. A career best is required here, but clearly not out of this world with conditions sure to suit. Bolger's Wexford Opera ran well off bigger marks in Handicaps last year. He might be sharper after a poor seasonal debut run and has a chance off a good mark but his strike rate doesn't instil much confidence. This race is up for grabs for an improving sort, such as the only three year old in the line-up, Ger Lyons' Dandyleekie. He was a smart juvenile, finishing 3rd behind Lucida in a very strong race twelve month ago. He started his classic season in encouraging fashion when taking on older horses at Fairyhouse in a Condtions race. He finished last but was only 4l beaten by smart Tamadhor, who herself was a strong 6th in the Irish 1000 Guineas, and only two lengths behind a good 98 rated individual. Dandyleekie drops into handicaps for the first time now and an opening mark off 91 seems fair. With the weight for age in his favour he should be a big runner, as natural progression may give him the edge against older and more exposed rivals. ? Dandyleekie @ 13/2 Paddy Power -
Asc 3.05 - Groundbreaking - win at 40/1 bog bet365 Has won on seasonal debut in each of the last two seasons Looks OK handicapped off 100 after winning a Newmarket handicap by 7 lengths off 89 last season If he's ready to run first time up he might have a chance at big odds

Asc 2.30 - First Party - EW at 40/1 bog bet365 The Albany Obviously my 66/1 EW shot finished 4th in yesterday's 2yo race at Royal Ascot, but am I deterred ?...........NO ! I'm going for another Johnston horse at a big price to bustle up the more fancied runners. My selection has only raced once and won a maiden first time out. MJ runs two such horses here and mine is the bigger price of the two even though her maiden appeared to be a better race The two US horses at the head of the market should ensure a decent clip but will they last home ?
