  1. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 30th April 2015 Punch 6.40 - Ted Veale - win at 50/1 bog bet365 Champion novice chase - 2 miles if un de sceaux falls if this is to sharp for Smashing if the ground has gone against Melodic Rendezvous if Just Cameron finds the step up from handicap company too much if Real Steel doesn't act on the ground then my selection has a bit of a chance as a dual grade 3 winning hurdler who usually runs his race and might find life easier than trying to give weight away in handicaps

  2. Re: Nap of the day 29th April 4.15 Ponty - Soul Searcher - win at 3/1 bog ladbrokes class 4 handicap over 12F Only 4 runners here but it looks a decent race with 3 of them looking progressive types Cosmic Statesman might be out of his depth against the other 3 My selection has won over the trip and on a track with an uphill finish. The other two are both front runners who might take each other on and have nothing left when they hit the hill I'd like to see mine tracking them and whooshing past in the last furlong..........

  3. Re: Nap of the day 28th April Nott 4.15 - Percy's princess - win at 10/1 bog bet365 staying handicap my selection gets to run off a lower turf mark here having mainly raced on the AW for the last year - her turf mark is 6lbs lower than her AW mark This gives her a big weight swing with todays favourite who beat her under a length in February........it comes to 9lbs swing for three quarters of a length At the respective odds I'll give her the chance to reverse form in which case she should be close to winning this !

  4. Re: NAP of the day - Monday 26th April 2015 Sou 3.10 - Luvly - win at 5/1 bog wm hill 2yo maiden Take a chance one of outsiders of the small field here He's the cheapest of these but the only one with racecourse experience having run 3rd over this CD first time up. The Post noted that he had plenty of scope but neded the run so hopefully he'll step up on that effort today from the plum draw in one I'd have thought this was a tricky track for juvenile debutants as are all the other runners in the race. It's a quick 5f being on the straight and with the kickback it wouldn't be ideal for any horse who's a bit novicey and slowly away

  5. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 26th April 2015 3.15 Chelms - Merhoob - win at 8/1 bog stan james Maiden race My selection made is debut last season in a novice race, finishing 2nd. He was 5L behind a horse now rated 100 and 5L in front of the 3rd, now rated 69. Provisionally on that run he should be rated in the mid 80s which is well above what would usually be required to win a maiden race Cost over 200,000 as a yearling and is entered in the group one St James's Palace at Royal Ascot Must have a chance !

  6. Re: Nap of the day Saturday 25th April Ripon 2.15 - Imshi's Little Bro - win at 33/1 bog bet365 2yo maiden Taking a chance on an outsider here The two market leaders have finished 2nd on their runs to date. As such they are dominating the market as the expection would be a bit of improvement with racing should enable them to go one better But the early season races haven't looked that great and there's always a chance that the early runners get easy opportunities to place in weak races My selection is the bigger price of Fahey's two runners but was the more expensive at the sales. Also has the 5lb claimer up

  7. Well........the big day has arrived at last AP has two booked rides today at Sandown Fingers crossed that he comes back safe and sound............ Cheers AP........all the best and here's to a long and happy retirement..........:clap 4.25 at Sandown - Box Office, owned by JP McManus, trained by Jonjo O'Neill, ridden by AP McCoy It's going to be emotional........

  8. Re: flat racing fri 24th april well done with Western Hymn, arsenal ! Just watching the racing now and I hadn't realised what a tiddler Custom Cut is...........he's tiny compared to the two that came up to challenge.........but obviously sometimes a good little 'un does beat a good big 'un !

  9. Re: NAP of the day Friday 24th 2.00 Sand - Western Hymn - win at 11/2 bog bet365 group 3 - 10 furlongs for older horses Although this is a group 3 we have 3 group 2 winners who escape penalties because of the race conditions My selection is one of them and is a CD winner who has won first time out every season so far He's also been gelded since last year so he's obviously here to win prize money this season whereas a couple of the others might be using this as a prep for bigger races to come with an eye to stud value

  10. Re: *NEW* Weekly Naps Competition ~ £50 Cash Prize ~ Starts Sunday May 3rd Cheers BH, looks interesting ! I think there is a tendency with the monthly comp to just go through the motions for the last week or two if you feel you're not in contention..........I'm guilty of that for sure.......:unsure I just wonder if a weekly competition will put more emphasis on people trying to land that 50/1 shot and count against the steady accumulators and high strike rate punters Be interesting to see how it pans out........at least if someone does land a 50/1 shot you've only got a few days to wait for the new comp !...........:rollin and who knows........it might be me with the 50/1 winner........:D

  11. Re: Nap of the day Competition - Thursday 23rd April 2015 Bath 5.55 - Home Again - win at 4/1 bog Coral 2yo maiden race We've got 6 left in at the moment and three of them have run before but look poor. Hannon's horse is the current favourite of course and he did finish 2nd on his debut but that looks a very poor race and he could be vulnerable if one of the newcomers is any good. He went through the ring but nobody bought him at a price of 1000 quid so he can't be much to look at ! He's also drawn in the outside stall. On the other hand of course the Hannon's do tend to get a win out of most of their horses by astute training and placing and maybe they've found a weak enough race for this one to get his nose in front. My selection is unraced and comes from David Brown's yard - he has already had a first time winner from his 2yo this season. This one is the most expensive in the field and cost a similar amount to the one that won first time up. He's a brother or half brother to 6 winners

  12. Re: Nap Of The Day 21st April Brighton 4.40 - Taexali - win at 11/10 bog wm hill 2yo maiden Seems a bit surprising that a horse should come over from Ireland for a two bit maiden race at Brighton but that's what my selection is doing Moreover his first run was in a maiden race at The Curragh which traditionally is a high quality one and often throws up a group horse or two. The 2nd and 7th have already won since. My horse finished 5th after racing prominently and fading late on. That was on heavy ground and the Post suggest that he's coming over here for better ground Main danger looks to be Hannon's horse Jet Setting. She finished 4th in a Leicester maiden behind a useful looking winner. However she was a cheap purchase and is unlikely to be a stable star........also a filly taking on a colt and the 3 that finished ahead of her at Leicester were all colts. Fillies usually have to be pretty good to beat colts in open maidens

  13. Re: Nap of the day 20th April 2.10 Ponty - Tawwakol - win at 10/11 bog wm hill Thought I might have a look at the early season 2yo races for a change of scenery.......with very little form to go on it makes you look at other things like past winner profiles, breeding, trainer patterns, sales info etc ........which feeds into your general skills as a punter (hopefully !) Unfortunately today's only 2yo race isn't that interesting with a slight odds on favourite who I can't oppose. Tawwakol comes the Johnston yard who have made a good start with their juveniles. He's the most expensive horse in the field and his sales price rose from 25K to 70K on his two trips to the ring. He's also a brother or half-brother to 8 winners, so a decent winning family He's the only one who's had a run and it wasn't a bad effort even tho' he finished 4th of 5. Only beaten a couple of lengths after a slow start, not handling the sharp bend very well (Kempton) and looking a bit outpaced and green before running on again late. Today's more galloping track and stiffer finish should give him more time to get going Fahey's runner, Black Magic, is attracting some support as the yard have also had a few 2yo winners.......but he's also had a few well beaten, so a mixed bag. He's by first season sire, Poets Voice, who I remember as a soft ground horse and his dam side is middle distance. I think he might struggle at 5F........but then he hasn't run yet. That's the joy of early season 2yo races !

  14. Re: NAP of the day - Sunday 19th April 2015 Winc 3.10 - Miss Tenacious - win at 3/1 bog wm hill 2 mile handicap chase Only 3 runners left now as the firm ground takes it's toll My selection is currently the outsider of the 3 but she does act on good to firm ground and has won here 4 times so is evidently suited by this RH tight track The main doubt is that she normally runs in a grade lower than this but she's not badly handicapped - 4lbs higher than last win which was by just under 4 lengths Front runner- I can see her striding out and testing whether the other two want to let themselves down on the ground.

  15. Re: Nap of the day 18th April Bangor 3.35 - Askamore darsi - win at 4/1 bog wm hill Handicap chase My horse comes from the Mccain yard and ran well here last time to finish 2nd to a 140s rated horse in a novice race. As he runs here off 118 he looks potentially well treated. He also finished a length 2nd in a handicap hurdle off 114 last year This ground suits him - won his novice hurdle on good ground and should be at home on this basically tight track which suits front runners

  16. Re: Nap of the day friday 17th april 2015 Ayr 4.10 - Spartan Angel - win at 3/1 bog wm hill 3 mile mares handicap hurdle I'm going with Nicky Henderson's runner here - she's lightly raced and looks to be crying out for this trip and has done her winning on good ground. Has been edging up the weights but not harshly.....just up 3 lbs for 3 runs in handicaps. Two of those were on soft ground and the last run came after a 3 month break. Run Ructions Run might well go off favourite with McCoy up and she usually runs her race but does look a bit in the handicappers grip
