  1. Re: Nap Of The Day - Friday 3rd April 2015 Muss 3.30 - Blaine - win at 2/1 bog bet365 5F sprint Three old timers here who can probably be discounted along with the 67 rated Bapak B That leaves 2......the current favourite, Robot Boy, and my selection Both came up through handicaps last season and the favourite is probably better suited by this easy 5F as my selection usually takes on a stiffer test However with G/S ground it might even out a bit and I think my horse is more likely to be ready to run first time out. The favourite tends to win in June after he's had a couple of runs and the yards recent runners have all been well beaten

  2. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 2nd April 2015 3.50 Taunton - Dragons Den - win at 7/2 bog wm hill Handicap hurdle Going to take on the short price favourite here. Earthmoves is from the Nicholls yards and has won a couple of novice hurdles but has been beaten in handicaps and has a penalty today for the last novice win. Not sure the fast ground will suit him My selection won over CD last time by 15 lengths so a 8lb rise looks OK. Is well suited by fast ground and had been running in better races before that last win. Kept to the same grade today and looks to have a decent chance.

  3. Re: Nap of The Day - Wednesday 1st April Towc 2.40 - Molko Jack - win at 11/4 bog bet365 Very poor handicap chase Most of these have quite a bit to prove but my fellow has conditions to suit as he's won on stiff tracks, won RH, won with cut in the ground. Doesn't appear to be particularly well handicapped as he's never won off a mark this high and he's a bit of a veteran now. Might get away with it in this poor race. Drops in class today but has run OK in a couple of better races recently without looking like winning Maybe this easier grade is what he needs and he did win at around this time last year by dropping down to a class 5 after a couple of efforts in class 4

  4. Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 31st March 2015 Hunt 3.15 - Ultimatum du Roy - win at 11/10 bog wm hill Handicap chase My selection has run well here on his last 3 outings, 2 wins and 2nd and cleary likes this track Up 4lbs for last win which shouldn't be insurmountable in a weaker looking race Market rival Mrs Peachey was a useful hurdler but seems less good over fences. She did win a novice hurdle against inferior opposition but struggled on handicap debut. She's also been running in Mares races and meets the geldings here for the first time in ages. Mares races tend to be weaker affairs than open ones and Mares usually have to be big and strong ones to compete with the geldings

  5. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 30th March 2015 Chep 5.15 - Marie des Anges - win at 11/10 bog bet365 Handicap chase My horse is the favourite and has been in good form this year, winning at Exeter and running a good 3rd at Newbury last time. She appears to handle any going, acts well on undulating tracks and has been dropped a couple of pounds since Newbury The main danger appears to be Sublime Talent but he looks best on good ground and easy or sharp tracks and is difficult to win with (2 years and 17 runs since scoring) Ran pretty well last time but I think this ground and testing track will find him out

  6. Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 29th March 2015 Ascot 5.15 - Foundry Square - win at 13/8 bog boyles 2 mile 5 furlong hunter chase This looks a 2 horse race on paper and none of the others make much appeal The current favourite is No Loose Change from Nicholls yard. He won a very poor 3 runner affair at Fontwell two runs ago when he had 3 stone in had of the second on official rating and 5 stone on the other runner. He then pulled up in the Foxhunters at Cheltenham. Difficult to know how much the big race took out of him. The fontwell win was on heavy ground but with so much in hand he had to win that race whatever the ground.......generally though his wins come on good and good to firm and the ground will be getting softer at Ascot. This is also a bit on the sharp side for him as all his wins have been over further My selection has been steadily improving with each run after a long break. Last time out he finished 2nd with the winner going in again next time out. Acts on soft and gave Cheltenham a miss so no excuse of having a hard race.

  7. Re: Flat Racing > Saturday March 28th (The Lincoln) Three 2yo races to start the season today I couldn't resist checking them out and I've decided to back...... Buratina - 2.55 Chelms - 4/1 bog stan james I just got this bet on before the race at Kempton which Johnston won to go with his win in the Brocklesby at Donny.......so I imagine the price of Buratino will now shorten considerably as Johnston goes for 3 out of 3 in the first day juvenile races ! He's a home bred for Sheikh Hamdan The favourite here is Young John who was quite expensive but is a late April foal.......and they don't tend to win a lot of early 2yo races. If they do win they're usually pretty smart

  8. Re: Nap of the day Sat 28th march 2015 5.50 Chelm - Topamichi - win at 15/8 bog boyles 10f handicap Couple of non runners have left just 4 in the 10f handicap That won't bother my fellow as he won from the front over this CD last time out and he won't care how many horses there are behind him .......he won't be looking for cover! Joe Fanning keeps the ride and is well regarded as one of the best front running jockeys around The three rivals all look OK, quite promising types, but none of them have had a recent run and of course none of them have ran here before. Hopefully my selection can put his race fitness to good use and run the legs off them

  9. Re: Nap of the Day - Friday 27th March 2015 2.40 newc- Have You Had Yours - win at 7/4 bog bet365 Handicap chase over 2 miles and half a furlong Poor race this. My selection ran OK over CD in a better race last time out and should appreciate this drop in class. Although he's not much good he has managed to win 3 times over fences, all at around this trip. Not particularly well handicapped being 8lbs above his last winning mark and that win was by a head but he has lost narrowly over 1lb lower so this mark might not beyond.......anyway, it's all relative to the others ! Gin Cobbler looks OK but his jumping is not that good and he looks hard to win with (1 win from 16 chases and that was in Hunter company). Been coming down and down in the weights but just when it looked like he was getting to a winning mark (beaten under 2 lengths last time) the handicapper has stuck him back up 5lbs. The other 2 might well take each other on up front which could suit the two market leaders, both of whom have a fair bit of stamina at this trip. A fastish pace though might put Gin Cobbler's jumping under pressure.

  10. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 26th March 2015 Ffos 2.10 - Thedrinkymeister - win at 5/4 bog PP Maiden hurdle on heavy ground This looks a 2 horse race on paper. I think the odds on favourite, Veripek, could be vulnerable. He's probably the most promising of these but has been beaten at odds on the last twice and his worst run has come on this track on heavy ground. My selection has run a couple of solid runs in novice and maiden races, acts on the ground and is a front runner who should get an uncontested lead. If anything the form of his runs to date has worked out better than that of the favourite so there's probably not much between them

  11. Re: Nap of the day Wednesday 25th NA 3.10 - Farbreaga - ew at 22/1 bog wm hill Handicap chase Not much to get excited about here with most of these looking out of form, in the handicappers grip or up in class I'm taking a chance on the outsider of the field who seems to be a big price. Won a handicap by 15 lengths 2 runs ago then ran in the Grimthorpe last time and didn't make much impression. Back down in grade today and dropped 3 lbs (still 11 above that last win) Does seem to go well with cut in the ground but good to soft should be Ok and the track and trip should be no problem

  12. Re: Nap of the Day Competition - Tuesday 24th March 2015 3.10 Sou - Royal McNab - win at 7/2 bog wm hill handicap chase A couple of non runners have depleted the field a bit but the principal runners remain This looks ideal for my horse - good ground, two and a half miles, small field. He's a front runner who needs nursing a bit to get this trip as it appears to be the outside limit of his stamina. Hopefully the jockey will be able to take it easy out front. He's had a good winter, winning a couple and generaly looks to be improving as he will need to off a career high mark. Finished a fairly well beaten 2nd last time off this mark but the winner that day has won eaily again since and he might have just caught a tartar. Nomadic Storm has also been in good form but over th minimum trip and the jury is out as to whether he's as effective over this far......well beaten every time he's tried it but he wasn't in as good form then. It wasn't much of a race he won last time......soon became a 2 runner affair and he beat a horse making his chase debut The danger should be Worthy Award, the current favourite. He's making his chase debut and hasn't run for 154 days. In is 3 runs over hurdles he looked an out and out stayer and we might not see the best of him until he goes up to 3 miles. I've also got it in my mind that Jonjo's horse's usually come on for a run after a break.

  13. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 23rd March 2015 Taun 4.50 - King Massini - win at 2/1 bog ladbrokes handicap chase Going to take on the current favourite - Shy John unseated here last time and has been prone to errors in his last couple of races as well - if he gets round without mishap he's possibly a orthy favourite, though he might be better with cut in the ground and if they go a bit faster on this good ground it might put his jumping under more pressure My selection has been dropping down the weights and is now below his last winning mark. back on a RH track and down in grade from his last few runs with first time cheekpieces. Should have a good chance of upsetting the favourite.

  14. Re: Nap of the day 22nd March 2015 2.00 MR - Black Jack Rover - win at 11/10 bog betvictor Novice hurdle Looks a 2 horse race on paper and I'm going for the McCain horse who won his bumper last time out after disappointing on rules debut when the yard was out of form He made all last time and that should be decent tactics here again today in a small field. The opposition is the Henderson horse, Forever Field. He's also a bumper winner but ran poorly on hurdles debut although it was in a much better race than this. He folded pretty tamely after a mistake. They both look like staying types, future chasers, ........I'm just thinking my selection might be a bit more race ready at this early stage of their careers and could put the Henderson horse under pressure if he gets out in front and gallops away from him

  15. Re: Nap of the day Saturday 21st march 2015 4.45 Bangor - A Vos Gardes - win at 6/4 bog wm hill Novice hurdle 4 previous winners here make this an interesting novice race. My selection has the best form, having finished 2nd in a Listed race last time with 2 x 140 rated horses behind him. Prior to that he had won his novice at Doncaster. He's also a course winner having won his bumper here......and he beat 2nd favourite in that bumper (but only be a head !) Biggest danger could be Mccain's front runner, Go Conquer - he might have the race run to suit him and could run them ragged if he stays this longer trip

  16. Re: nap of the day - friday 20th Sedge 4.40 - Debt To Society - win at 9/4 bog wm hill marathon handicap chase My selection goes pretty well here - he's won over CD and he also 'won' that voided race a couple of months ago when the wrong flag was shown but they raced anyway Comes here in decent nick. Has finished 2nd on his last 3 outings and last time he ran off his much higher hurdles mark so runs off 17lbs lower today I don't think he's a good thing as he doesn't seem to find much in the finish but this looks a poor race. I'm just hoping he's got the race in the bag by a furlong or two out so he has no excuse to let anything run him out of it........

  17. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 19th 2.55 Ludlow - Bonobo - win at 7/2 bog PP 2 mile novices handicap chase on good ground The favourite here is Diamond tammy who has won his last 2 fairly comfortably but he might be worth taking on. He's gone up in the weights, 17lbs since the first of his 2 wins, 10lbs since the last and this looks a better race today. Might be better with some cut in the ground these days My selection is going in the opposite direction in the weights having come down 7lbs since going handicapping 4 runs ago. Drops in class from a decent race at Newbury last time and the ground has come in his favour as he seems more effective on good ground (last win on good to firm). My main concern is that he has run here 3 times before and been fairly well beaten. He won his bumper going RH so I hope he hasn't got an irrational dislike of Ludlow
