  1. Donny 3.35 - Pivotman - win at 10/1 bog m hill 8F Classified stakes The Legends race.......I'm guessing that the mounts of McCoy and Murtagh will be poor value as it'll be the jockeys that are being backed and not the horses Having said that you wouldn't want to be putting money down against either of them ! I'm plating more by the book and going for a horse who looks well handicapped and is in decent nick. Beaten a length last time off his AW mark of 80 and runs against 70 rated horses here off level weights Stays further than a mile which is handy on this straight track where's there's bound to be some pace on in a big field with retired jockeys

  2. Looks fantastic if all the main players turn up Good to see Cirrus des Aigles there - first run in Ireland ? As to how it's viewed over here I'd say that the Irish St Leger is of little interest and has lost any meaning since it was opened to older horses..........it'll certainly be massively overshadowed by the Doncaster race, which in itself is of little relative importance in the grand scheme of things. The other group one races look fantastic.......the Moyglare and National are viewed as the best two Irish 2yo races and given that Ireland usually wins our Guineas will probably provide the winter favourites for the 1000 and 2000 gns The Matron and Irish Champion are very dependent on who runs.......there's a lot of group one races over that trip for older horses and all the top horses can avoid each other if they want..........this year both races look terrific if the principals turn up

  3. Redc 2.30 - Myway Queen - win at 25/1 bog bet365 2yo nursery Couple of non runners leave a field of 11 for the 7f nursery and it's very tight in the market with 4 horses at around 4/1 Looking further down the list my selection has been steadily improving in maiden races and now steps up in trip for her nursery debut. She ran on well over 6F last time and the extra distance should suit

  4. 3.10 Perth - Ballycool - win at 16/1 bog bet365 2 mile hcap chase My selection returns from a 4 month break and has a good record running fresh Trip and ground look OK.......there is a doubt about the track as he mainly goes LH and has been fairly well beaten both times he's gone RH including once as a short price favourite. Good chance that's just coincidence. Goes well for this 3lb claimer who has been in the d=saddle for is last 3 wins and who himself has had two wins and a second from his last 3 rides so should be riding with confidence.
Non Runner I'll pluck one off the bench...... Windsor 2.20 - Robbie Roo Roo - EW at 66/1 bog wm hill 2yo maiden My horse is a big price but I'm hoping that he will come on for his Newmarket debut a month ago. He finished 10th. The only horses that have run from the race are the ones that finished 7th, 8th and 9th and they all placed next time out in maidens so I'm hoping my fellow will do the same Yard in decent nick and has an OK draw
  5. 3.10 Perth - Ballycool - win at 16/1 bog bet365 2 mile hcap chase My selection returns from a 4 month break and has a good record running fresh Trip and ground look OK.......there is a doubt about the track as he mainly goes LH and has been fairly well beaten both times he's gone RH including once as a short price favourite. 6. York 2.00 - Torment - win at 16/1 bog bet365 7f nursery My selection looks a big price for a Hannon runner making his nursery debut Won first time out at Windsor then ran in a couple of small field novice and listed races which didn't appear to suit him. He looks like a galloper and both those races were slowly run and turned into sprint finishes. Dropping to 6f last time didn't look right either. Back at 7F today and in a field which should go along at a decent clip he might reveal his initial promise. I can see him running on late with the horses up front fading. Knowing my luck he'll be a fast finishing second and be in front a yard after the line......... The horses he's been running against in his last 2 starts have been Listed level and this might be considered a drop in class.

  7. 2.50 Asc - Unsuspected Girl - win at 14/1 bog wm hill 2yo maiden Looking at the rides of 'Frank' Spencer who had 3 winners here yesterday and my eye was taken by Simcock's debutant. The trainer had a debutant 2yo winner a few days ago and seems to come into his own late season with staying two year olds The commentator was saying yesterday that Ascot suits 'Frank' because the leaders generally slow down on reaching the uphill finish and horses coming from behind can get up.........suits Frank's 'hold 'em up' style

  8. Sals 4.15 - Bonds Girl - win at 9/2 bog Coral 7F fillies handicap My selection has a patchy record in the last year or so and is winless during that period However it's noticable that her best runs have come with cut in the ground on tracks with uphill finishes. She has her conditions today and the small field might help as she seems to find trouble in running sometimes. Bit of a doubt over this trip but she might get home in a small field if there's not too much pace on

  9. Ling 2.00 - Marshall Dan Troop - win at 11/1 bog wm hill 2yo maiden over 6f on heavy ground My selection has looked like a stayer on his two outings to date and if this becomes a stamina test in heavy ground he could be running at the finish Not a bad draw with a couple of the non runners between him and the rail, he be well placed if he gets away OK Trainer Chapple-Hyam's last 3 runners have won including two 2yo

  10. Newc 2.25 - Kings Pavillio - win at 7/1 bog ladbrokes Mile nursery There's a couple of potential hotpots here Shahbar is well thought of but the form of his 2 runs hasn't really been working out Simple Attack is from Godolphin and has to be respected having won a maiden on 2nd outing on g/s ground. Nothing has run yet from that race so difficult to weigh up King's Pavillion is from the Johnston yard, already won over a mile, handles any cut, can front run or be held up behind the pace and is in good form. A lot of Johnston horses run a lot but keep going and improving through the season. They can also have off days for no apparent reason so I never think they're worth backing at really short odds.

  11. I'm a big fan of Vicky having followed cycling for the last 20 years.......I've seen her whole career mirror that of the rise of the British track team from nothing to world number one (and now the road racers are taking over the world !) She's a girl and a half.......:) not to be underestimated !

  12. Bev 4.35 - Sunnyside Bob - win at 14/1 bog wm hill Nursery over 5F My selection has improved in each of his 3 maidens and tackles a nursery for the first time today. Has only run over 6F to date but this drop to 5F on a stiff track could suit him as he's weakened a couple of times in the finish before. Can race prominently and has the plum draw in 1.......I'd like to see him up there from the start ! The favourite, Rosina, looks good and has stall 2 but tends to get behind and run on late.......this track should suit but might need a gap to open at the right time

  13. 2.35 Good - Rene Mathis - win at 20/1 bog wm hill Big handicap with lots of runners, class 2, 7F My selection spends his time running in these big class 2 handicapsso doesn't win very often as they are incredibly competitive. However he wins every now and then, acts of the track and the ground and is well drawn. Only a couple of pounds higher than last win which was by a length so mark looks OK. Well drawn in the low stalls

  14. Newm 3.40 - Sun Lover - win at 20/1 bog wm hill 2yo maiden This looks pretty hot with runners from most of the big yards and plenty of Dewhurst and Royal Lodge entries Although he's 20/1 my selection is 4th favourite in the betting........so I'm hoping the front 3 all run below expectation My horse ran midfield in an Newmarket maiden on debut but a nice introduction for a Cumani horse. The trainer usually gives them an easy time on debut and they often come on a bundle

  15. Sedge 5.30 - Great Anticipation - EW at 33/1 bog wm hill Novice hurdle Only 5 runners so I'm trying an EW steal with 2 places or 40% of the field qualifying for pay outs ! My selection is coming out of Irish points where he's finished 2nd last time though some way behind the winner. His form doesn't look that great in Points but makes his hurdles debut so he's a bit of an unknown quantity two of the ones ahead of him in the betting have penalties and the favourite fell last time out Looking for a bit of luck.......

  16. Chep 2.00 - Trigger Park - win at 9/1 bog boyles 6f maiden on heavy ground My selection is the outsider of the field and is still a maiden after 16 runs (only ever placed once!) However......he acts on soft ground and his best runs have come here on this quirky track The market leader looks vulnerable and this is a poor bunch all round so let's give him a chance to break his duck A couple of non runners has reduced the field to 6 which should make it a bit easier !
