Well done guys, good luck in the final !

Asc 12.20 - American - win at 9/2 bog wm hill
novice hurdle
My selection ran 3rd in a novice hurdle at Aintree last month in conditions which might not have suited him.......he looks a real soft ground stayer
That race was run over 20F on good ground at a sharp track and he got outpaced by the front two
Should be a different proposition with that run under his belt and in a more demanding test
Newish trainer won this race last year and has booked Geraghty for a spare ride

Good luck BH.........well, better than we had on our Nap today !

3.15 Ascot - Loose Chips - win at 4/1 bog bet365
class 3 handicap chase around 3 miles
my selection Unseated Rider in that mickey mouse cross country race at Cheltenham last week but he didn't fall over so hopefully that won't affect his confidence. (hadn't gone far either so should have recovered)
Looks to have a much better chance today - all his 6 career wins have been on RH tracks with cut in the ground. He's also won off a higher mark in the past and his last 4 wins have been in class 3 races
-
1.30 MR - Cloudy Bob - win at 10/3 sportingbet
handicap chase
my selection doesn't win very often, in fact about once a year. But his last 2 wins have come in November at this track on soft ground at around today's trip
He's now 2lbs lower than for last November's win
usually needs a couple of runs at the start of the season......last year he won on his 3rd run and today is his 3rd run. Beaten 3L last time over 3 miles on good ground......todau's trip and ground should be more suitable and I can see him winning this then becoming disappointing again until next November
-
Kemp 5.55 - Just Fred - EW at 66/1 bog wm hill
This month has never got going for me in the comp despite having a decent winner on day one
So I'm casting around for long shots to try and hit my way into form.......
2yo maiden on the AW
My selection is a big price but there's a chance he'll improve on his 2nd run.....last time out on debut was held up at the back before making some late progress in a similar race to this. He was beaten 13L but that's slightly deceptive as the winner was 7L clear of the field........so he was only 6L behind the placed horses
Conceivable he could gain a few lengths for the experience and maybe being put into the race earlier.
Unless of course they're just running him for a handicap mark in which case he'll probably stay out the back and make late headway to finish 5th........but if most of the other jockeys are under the same instructions one of them has to cock up and finish 3rd

11.40 Ling - Nidnod - EW at 25/1 bog bet365
5f Nursery
My selection has already won a nursery here on turf over 6F and now finds herself 2lbs lower in the weights having apparently gone backwards. However she was highly tried a couple of times and ran on soft ground a couple of times
Maybe Poytrack will suit better and she's well handicapped if finding conditions that will suit

Cheers chris.......I was just about to start a new thread !
Plum 2.00 - The Green Ogre - win at 9/2 bog wm hill
Handicap chase - class 4 - 20F, soft
My selection has a poor overall strike rate of 1 from 19 but he has finished in the first 3 on 12 occasions
His one win was here and he's run well here all 3 times he has competed. His win was in a novice race but he finished about 3 or 4 lengths back in 2 class 2 handicaps,,,,,,, so this is a much easier race now he's going over fences. Has dropped about 10lbs in the weights since this time last year
Has had a run this season, his chasing debut and finished 2nd at Kempton. Any young chaser that can get round Kempton must be a decent jumper so no worries there
Trainer says he will be a much better chaser than hurdler
-
Font 4.00 - Sylvan Legend - win at 3/1 bog bet365
Low grade handicap chase
My selection has won over fences over today's CD and ran well last time out in a better race to finish 3rd. Has been dropped a couple of pounds after that run
Acts on good to soft so hopefully the ground won't be too sticky
Market rival and current favourite is Lady From Geneva, a maiden who ran poorly on her two chase outings. Her market position is due to a couple of decent runs over hurdles but I'm banking that she's just not as good over the bigger obstacles.......flat bred mare (by Generous !) just might not be a chasing type
ps.............I was unable to open a 'Reply' box to type into with my normal browser (IE)........I've had to try Firefox which appears to work

well done richard

2.50 Uttox - Benny's Well - win at 5/1 bog PP
Handicap chase over 22 and a half furlongs
My selection was well beaten on seasonal debut but tends to come on a bundle for his first run
If he is race fit today he should have a good chance - course winner, trip fine, last 2 wins on soft ground
His last 2 wins have been off this handicap mark. Can front run which might be a good tactic in this small field
-
Good luck everyone !

Hope everything went well.........

Hexham 2.25 - Tikkandemickey - win ay 5/1 bog sportingbet
Sorry BH.....was having a doubt about sportingbet and on checking it doesn't look like they do BOG
so I'll just take the 5/1 and hope the price doesn't drift........
cheers

Hexham 2.25 - Tikkandemickey - win ay 5/1 bog sportingbet
Handicap chase
My selection was well beaten on seasonal debut by 64 lengths but he has won 3 times here at Hexham including on heavy ground
He was pretty well beaten first time out last season but won on his 2nd start
Handicap mark is OK - last 2 hurdle wins were off higher marks. He's also won a novice chase and was jumping well last time here when running out
Not sure the current favourite, Clan William, will stay this trip on heavy ground at a stiff track so I'm happy to take him on
-
Sou 1.50 - Luis Vas de Torres - win at 15/2 bog betvictor
5F handicaps at Southwell are back on the agenda after the summer break !
My selection is fairly lightly raced from a big yard. He looks quite well handicapped on his win in a Ponty handicap in July being 2lbs higher but won by over a length
The fact that he's won at Ponty is an encouragement as you need to stay well to win over this straight 5F
No track experience which might be a negative but I'm trusting Fahey to know which horses will act here
-
Ex 3.40 - Otago trail - win at 11/10 bog bet365
Novice chase over 20F
None of the runners here have run in a chase before which adds a frisson of uncertainty
Both market leaders won Points and look like chasing would be their game
My selection was a bold jumper over hurdles, has won on Heavy ground, won first time out last season and has gained both his hurdle wins on right handed tracks.
On Tour was slightly rated over hurdles but to date his best performances have come left handed on flat or sharp tracks and this testing course on heavy ground might find him out
-
Ling 1.30 - Strange Bird - win at 9/1 bog wm hill
handicap chase over 20F
My selection is a CD winner who has won on heavy ground. She's running off her last winning mark today and has conditions to suit
It can get pretty testing at Lingfield and the heavy ground might catch out a few of her rivals
My main worry is whether she'll need the run after a break but we have no way of knowing ow fit she is. She appeared to need a run last season but that over a longer trip and maybe she just faded because of the distance rather than lack of an outing

Some sad news this morning of the passing of Pat Eddery at the age of 63
For racing fans of a certain age Pat was one the greats and provided us with what many consider to be in the handful of greatest racing memories ever.........
And here comes Dancing Brave !
-
Carl 2.50 - Blakemount - win at 3/1 bog betvictor
3 mile graduation chase which has been won by decent horses in the last few years - Shuthefrontdoor, Vintage Star, Across The Bay, Hey Big Spender, Money Trix
Today's renewal looks well up to standard with the 4 younger horses all having grade race form over hurdles or novice chases
My selection finished a head 2nd in a grade 2 novice hurdle and has already had an outing this season, running well but earning the comment that he would come on for the run. Can front run which could be a useful tactic if he has a fitness edge on his main rivals. He's also getting weight as he hasn't won a chase yet
Salubrious is the favourite - he might the run as some of Nicholls runners do and he only scraped home a year ago on his chase debut at 5/1 ON to beat a 120s rated horse by a neck, jumping poorly, not seen since
Deputy Dan usually needs a run after a break
The other two are a bit older and more exposed and don't look like making up into grade class chasers
-
Ffos 2.05 - Capilla - win at 9/2 bog wm hill
Two mile handicap chase on heavy going
I think the current favourite here, Bobble Boru, is well worth taking on..............she's a Mare and reportedly quite small so saddled with top weight on heavy ground, although she does appear to act on heavy. Her two hurdle wins came in Mares only races and she also seems best going RH. I have a feeling she won't get round
A couple of these others are not sure to be suited by heavy ground - Gowanauthat and Flash Crash. The latter is Flat bred and was a bit of an iffy jumper over hurdles so fences might be a problem
Humbel Ben is a veteran now but is well handicapped on his winning form from a year ago. He has some positives as well, has won at the track and although maybe better over further the heavy ground might make 2 miles a good trip for him. What's putting me off is that he tends to run best after a break these days and has already had two runs this season. Could well finish in the first two..............hopefully 2nd !
This trip looks too short for Magical Man even on heavy ground
Which leaves my selection...............he has won here on heavy ground (bumper) and although he didn't do much over hurdles he did run his best hurdle race here as well. Has had one outing in a chase where he pulled up, but it was a much better race than this. The yard have had a few winners recently, several of which have been on seasonal debut. My horse has arguably run his best 2 races on seasonal debuts so today could be the day to catch him
-
Winc 2.05 - Carole's Destrier - win at 9/1 bog betvictor
the 'Badger Ales' handicap chase
My selection has it to do under top weight but ran some cracking races last season including winning a Listed handicap at Ascot
Acts on good and soft ground and is a big 'un so should weight OK, seems best going right handed and generally looks progressive.
Main worry would be fitness first time out. He ran well on debut last season but didn't win so it's not a given that he won't need a run but I'll take a chance at the odds.

Ex 2.30 - Admiral Blake - win at 12/1 bog bet365
Handicap hurdle
Going to take on the short price favourite here, Anda de Grissay. Obviously she'll be popular having won last time out by 9L against rivals today with more questions to answer than Celebrity 15 to 1
However she is a mare, was described by connections after her win as 'not very big but genuine' and is set to carry 12-4 (minus claim) which is a big weight for a small mare on heavy ground on a stiff track. Last time I went down this road was a couple of weeks ago and the damn mare went and won so if this one wins I'll have a rethink......
My selection has everything going for him - CD winner, won on heavy, mark looks ok based on wins
There is one huge doubt.......he hasn't run for over a year and the yard looks well out of form with only 1 winner this season so he'll have to buck the stats
