  1. Kemp 2.15 - Mailce - win at 14/1 bog bet365 Class 6 handicap for 3yo plus Going for the one of the lightly raced ones here. She did nothing in 3 maidens although they were all at top tracks. Nothing much in her first 2 handicaps either First sign of promise was last time out in a handicap at Lingfield finishing 3rd beaten just over 2L. That was her first run on the AW so maybe the surface suits her Same mark today and extra furlong should help. It often pays to stick with the 3yo in these all aged races in the second half of the season, particularly over the longer trips. The WFA scale appears to favour them.......eg getting 9lbs today

  2. Brighton 3.20 - My Favourite Thing - win at 5/1 bog betvictor 7F 2yo maiden For a race at Brighton this has attracted quite a good looking field with horses from both Godolphin yards, Cumani, Crisford..........and that's not including the two market leaders I'm going to take a chance on the once raced horse from Luca Cumani. She finished midfield on debut at Newmarket. That is a race that often throws up good horses including 2 subsequent group one winners in the last 10 years. The horse that finished just behind her has come out and won since, the only runner from the race so far. Cumani won today's race last year

  3. York 3.45 - Angel Gabrial - win at 50/1 bog bet365 Ebor handicap My selection looks to have a better chance than his odds. Needs a handicap career best as he's 9lbs above his last winning mark but he was beaten under 2L off 2lb lower in June. Has run in a couple of pattern races since then Might be better today in a big field handicap because he stays well and goes well in big fields with a decent pace on appears to act on any going

  4. 1.55 York - Only orsenfoolsies - win at 50/1 bog betvictor competitive big field handicap My horse had run a couple of good races in handicaps but came unstuck in Listed company last time Is up 7lb from last handicap run which probably does for him but he's a game front runner and there's always the chance that any would be challengers could get traffic problems in such a big field........it might pay to be up near the front Fine on the ground
Non Runner.........new selection - York 3.40 - Canny Kool - EW at 125/1 bog bet365 nunthorpe - group one 5f sprint My selection is the outsider of the field but is still unexposed and has run creditably at a lower level of late shouldn't have any chance here but at least he acts on the ground and has the services of de Sousa Sometimes you can get big upsets in these group race sprints because basically there isn't much difference between group horses and handicappers unless you get a once in a decade type like Ajdal, Dayjur, Lochsong.......
  5. 1.55 York - Only orsenfoolsies - win at 50/1 bog betvictor competitive big field handicap My horse had run a couple of good races in handicaps but came unstuck in Listed company last time Is up 7lb from last handicap run which probably does for him but he's a game front runner and there's always the chance that any would be challengers could get traffic problems in such a big field........it might pay to be up near the front Fine on the ground

  6. York 1.55 - 2yo Sales race There doesn't seem much point looking at anything under 50/1 so options are getting a bit limited....... My selection has run OK in his 3 races to date. He's a long way behind some of these on official figures, but hey, if he wasn't he wouldn't be 80/1 ! Ran in the big Nursery at Glorious Goodwood last time and was well there in the lead until a furlong out and he weakened in the last hundred yards to be beaten 5 lengths Drops in trip by a furlong today and hopefully will setle a bit better near the front and run to the line There's only one horse at bigger odds as I type but I think he'll finish nearer first than last........
........and the horse's name is....... Amomentofmadness - Win at 80/1 bog betvictor....... just keeping you all guessing !......:lol

  8. York 2.30 - Recorder - win at 5/1 bog wm hill Group 3 Acomb - 7f for 2yo My selection won a decent looking maiden last time at Newmarket after looking an unlucky loser on debut at Newbury Handles cut in the ground if there's still any 'soft' by race time.......(we'll know as and when Gleneagles is pulled out.......:@) Trainer Haggas usually sends his good ones to York as a proud Yorkshireman he likes having winners here.

  9. Kemp 4.15 - Khatiba - win at 14/1 bog wm hill Class 3 7f handicap My selection looked pretty good on the AW last year but has disappointed a bit this season Has been tried over a mile the last twice and appeared not to get home so dropping back to 7F looks a good idea......he's a dual CD winner Good draw in stall 1 and been dropped a few pounds in the weights since the start of the season which just enables him to drop back into 0-90 company

  10. 3.55 Kemp - Jewellery Quarter - ew at 16/1 bog wm hill Mile nursery Looking for one of the bigger priced ones here My selection has had 3 runs in sprint maidens without troubling the judge but might improve for stepping up in trip on handicap debut. Has got in off just 46 so if there's anything there he should be competitive off that mark Lots of stamina on the dam's side and is well drawn

  11. Ponty 3.15 - Riptide - win at 7/2 bog bet365 Staying handicap 3 of the 4 fancied ones here all come out of the same race at the Carlisle lady jockeys only meeting a week or so ago. They finished in the first 3 that night but it looked a very poor race and they all might be vulnerable. My selection has won a couple of races over this CD and generally runs in better races than this. He's a veteran now but has run OK on his last 2 outings and might be getting race fit now.......was pretty well beaten on his first few runs of the season Has won off higher marks in the fairly recent past (last year) and in small fields Should go well.

  12. 3.45 Newb - Coulsty - win at 16/1 bog wm hill G2 Hungerford Stks over 7f My selection has won listed and G3 races and his two outings this season suggest he might still be improving Won a Listed race on seasonal debut than after a long break he ran really well in a group one race in France last week, beaten under 3 lengths by Muhaarar, Esoterique and co in the Maurice de Gheest Has won on soft ground and Frankie gets the ride

  13. 5.00 Newb - Pivotique - win at 11/1 bog boylesports 10F maiden My selection comes from the Cumani yard who have won the last 2 renewals of this race Being by Pivotal the training profession tell us that she'll be better on today's soft ground........basically I don't believe them but hey ho....... Steps up from a mile which should suit and Cumani's horses often come on a bit for their seasonal debuts

  14. I specialised in the all weather racing for several years and it was my most profitable period of betting but even so........there's too damn much of it ! As opposed to most people I don't actually mind it in the summer because it's easy to ignore and more or less just runs alongside the turf flat racing. There's far too much flat racing in the summer anyway so an extra AW meeting is neither here nor there. It's during the winter that I want less of it........I was thinking of going back to it for the coming winter season but I don't want 3 meetings a day ! One meeting a day is really sufficient........if you can't find a bet at a 7 race card then have a day off ! By the way.......I'm speaking solely as a punter who wants a relatively small sub-group of the horse population to follow and specialise in......winter all weather flat horses ought to be that, a few hundred horses that you can get to know and keep some grasp of the form in your head I'm not really bothered about owners, trainers etc......it seems to me that owners and trainers and jockeys want more opportunities for lower grade horses because inevitably there are a lot more of them than there are good ones. It must be much easier to get owners into your yard if they can buy a horse for 5K and have plenty of races to run it in
