  1. 3.45 Hayd - Arab Spring - win at 7/2 bog PP

    G3 over 12F

My horse won a 12F group 3 race on his seasonal debut last term and aims to repeat the trick here. Ideally suited by good to firm ground and the Stoute yard is amongst the winners lately

There's not a lot of group race winning form on show here

Foundation won a G2 as a 2yo but appears to be going downhill this year

  2. 3.10 Yarmouth - Rockcliffe - win at 11/2 bog bet365

    3yo hcap over 10f

My selection is pretty exposed after 16 runs and 1 win and has gone up 4lbs for the 2nd place last time

However all the fancied ones haven't shown a lot to date and could be vulnerable if my selection just runs to his usual form

A lot of is poor runs have been over varying trips, often on soft ground, but his best runs have been over 10f on good or g/f as he has today

I like the booking of Hanagan

  3. 2.40 Ponty - Maggi May - EW at 33/1 bog bet365

    2yo maiden 6f

Looking for one at an EW price that might outrun its odds and maybe be thereabouts

My selection finished plumb last in her only race to date, 11th of 11.

However that was a Class 3 novice race at York and she was up there until fading late on a track and trip that would be too sharp for her

That York form hasn't really worked out so this is a bit of a flyer......but hopefully the fact that she ran in a higher grade race on debut indicates that they think she's OK and she's had a few weeks to improve at home

  4. Catt 2,45 - The Kid - win at 9/4 bog bet365

    12F claimer

I backed today's favourite, Chant, when it won last time at Ponty but that was a poor race and I'm going to desert him today. It's possible he might get an uncontested lead again but there's a couple of better horses here than he ran against last time and they might just stay with him or pick him up in the finish

My selection has been in pretty decent form lately, winning a seller here. He looks just too high in weights to win a handicap as he keeps finishing 2 or 3 lengths behind the winner. However he is rated 2lbs higher than Chant and is getting 5lbs

Chant has run poorly at this track every time he's been here but to be fair all those runs were on softish ground which doesn't really suit him. But 3 of his 4 wins have come at tracks with stiff uphill finishes

Brigadoon looks to be in decline but Johnson's horse, Gold Merlion, cold be a danger getting the 3yo allowance, He ran a shocker on seasonal debut but should improve for the better ground today. Couldn't rule him out

    Rip 3.45 - Dandyleekie  - win at 6/1 bog bet365

    6F handicap.....class 3

My horse is one who runs well here and the forecast morning rain will also suit him (providing it actually happens !)

Won a couple of runs ago then had excuses last time trying 7F and losing a shoe

It's a bit of a worry that he steps up to class 3 after 7 runs in class 4 (won 2) but his recent runs here in wich he's gone well haven't been much worse than this one

Stablemate Eccleston is a danger but he does tend to get behind early and is a bit of a prisoner to how the race might be run. If it's a furious pace he could come running through late but if it's slow he might be out of it when the pace picks up

Rantan looks OK as a 3yo.......he's lightly raced but has had 5 runs in handicaps without winning yet finds himself on his highest ever mark, Moves into all aged company for the first time and gets the WFA allowance.

Both my fancied ones are non runners........that's an hour or two of my time down the pan !

I think I'll give up looking at the races the night before ...........:@

    4.45 Rip - Ardamir - win at 5/2 bog bet365

    12F maiden

Usually best to stick with the 3yo getting the weight allowance but I fancy the only older horse in the field might just have to much for them. He's a hurdle winner from France who joined the King yard and ran at Cheltenham

Made his flat debut last time out finishing 3rd in a Lingfield maiden behind one of Gosden's who won again next time out

Let's see if he can concede the weight to a couple of 3yo that have recently disappointed and one who has had a couple of runs in handicaps and looks like a mid 70s horse

  6. Rip 3.45 - Dandyleekie  - win at 6/1 bog bet365

    6F handicap.....class 3

  7. Chester 3.50 - Heir to the Throne - EW a 20/1 bog bet365

class 3 handicap just under a mile

Spent ages on this race last night and came to the firm conclusion that either the first or second favourite should win........which was very disappointing. I reckon if you spend hours on a tricky handicap you need to unearth a nugget or you've wasted your time......you might as well just look at the betting.......:@

So I'm going to go for an EW on one of the outsiders who I think might run better than his position in the betting

My horse is the least exposed and the only 3 year old. Won his maiden over this CD. He's had one run in a handicap and was fairly well beaten by 6 lengths in 4th. However he did go off as favourite and the form is working out pretty well.

Give him another chance to show that his mark is OK.........if he flops again today then it'll just look like his maiden form was over-rated and he might have to fall 10lbs in the weights before he's competitive in handicaps, so probably some time next season or on the AW over the winter.

  8. Good 2.35 - Gold Faith - win at 11/1 bog bet365

    Cl2 handicap over 12F for 3yo

I'm thinking of changing tack next month and looking at a few big field handicaps to try and get some bigger priced winners. So I'm having a practise run with this one

Needless to say this is very tricky with young horses who haven't raced many times, many of them fairly new to handicapping, many of them fairly new to 12 furlongs........so I guess the trick is to try and find one that might well be better than it has shown so far as it steps up in trip

My selection won a couple of races on the AW then fair scooted up in a 12F handicap at Newmarket, winning by over 2 lengths after being held up, travelling well and running away when asked.

I think todays race could be frantic with a lot of front runners and could well suit the hold up horses.

He's still lightly raced with just 5 career starts and although he's gone up 6lbs for that win he started life in handicaps off a fairly lowly mark and most of these are rising in the weights as you'd expect from a group of 3yo in a top handicap

  9. 2.00 Good - Mount Logan - win at 4/1 bog bet365

    Group 3 over 12 furlongs

My selection loves it here and is unbeaten in 3 runs. Has come up through handicaps and his last win was in Listed company

Now looks ready to start winning group races

Ran well last time in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot and today's task looks easier back down a level in grade.

  10. Ffos Las 6.10 - Zebspear - win at 13/8 bog PP

    5f nursery

lots of non runners here have left a field of 3 and surprisingly the Hannon runner is the outsider

I'm skipping over him and going for the current 2nd favourite who ran pretty well at Lingfield (turf) last time in a fast run race and makes his handicap debut today

the favourite has already run in 2 nurseries off a mark of 58 and was narrowly beaten then narrowly won, suggesting that the mark of 58 is about right.......now gone up 5lbs. She's a front runner and I think my selection should be able to track her and pounce late on

  11. Redcar 2.55 - Captain Felix - win at Evs bet365 bog

    10f Seller

There are 2 horses here that are well clear on the figures and the race should be between them

As it goes my horse beat the other one over this CD recently and although Our Boy Jack is a few pounds better off there is a doubt as to whether he's effective at this 10F trip so I reckon my horse still has an advantage

  12. Bev 4.30 - Lareate - win at 5/6 bog bet365

    2yo maiden

This looks a two horse race on paper and my selection beat the other one last time out

Moreover after only 2 runs he probably has scope to progress more than the other one who's had 5 runs

Fly in the ointment could be that the other horse was odds on fave when they met and had run in some races so maybe he just had an off day and will return to his best today, but I'll take a chance that my horse is just better than him
