Oh ........ the game at Coventry has just been called off
-
10 AM
Both the games I had down for a double have been called off this morning so thought I'd give an update before starting again !
Games on ...... all the Premier League and European games are still on, together with the Scottish Cup games at Celtic and Aberdeen
Championship still on - games at Bolton, Bristol City, Derby, Millwall and Nottm Forest are still ON
League One - games at MK Dons, Scnuthorpe, Southend are still ON
League Two - games at Carlisle, Cambridge and Coventry are still ON

If we get a long sustained period of Bumpers For Jumpers meetings it might be worthwhile paying a bit of attention to race conditions
For example I noticed that one of today's races at Southwell is a 2 mile bumper for horses that have run in at least one race over 2 miles 7 furlongs or further but have never run in a Flat Race...... so basically it's a two mile flat race for 3 mile national hunt bred horses
With only 3 runners it's probably not worth bothering with but if this was a competitive race it might be worth seeing if any runner is taking advantage of the conditions, eg you might have a two mile hurdler who was tried once over 3 miles but got beat a distance and reverted to the minimum trip........ up against a field on mainly 3 mile chasers. Could find some juicy EW bets ?

Well done with Baywing, Xtc !
From my short list of 3 I had the winner and a placed horse but obviously the winner was the one of my three that I discounted ..........
Wiggo gets West of the Edge in second .......
So that's pretty good for the Eider ....... 5 horses selected and we get the winner and two of the placed runners
I'll skip over Kempton .............

Font 3.55 - Niblawi - win at 9/4 bog bet365
-
2.45 Newc - Hainan - win at 13/2 bog bet365
-
Rotherham to win at 1.87
Plymouth to win at 2.50
10 points double
-
3.35 Kempton
13/15 – Rated 139 or higher
12/15 – Aged 9 or younger
11/15 – Won a class 2 chase or better before
10/15 – Carried 10-13 or more
10/15 – Had won over at least 3m (fences) beforeShort list - Go Conquer, As De Mee, Label des Obeaux
I'm discounting Go Conquer as he looks better over shorter trips if there's any cut in the ground ....... doesn't seem to get home at 3 miles if there's any 'soft'
As De Mee - 16/1 EW
Label des Obeaux - 25/1 EW
-
2.45 Newcastle
14/14 – Had won over at least 3m before
12/14 – Aged 10 or younger
11/14 – Carried 11-0 or moreJust the 3 trends have reduced the field from 17 to 3
short list - Chase The Spud, Baywing, Hainan
I don't like to select more than two so I'm discounting Baywing on the basis that he has only one win at 3 miles and his other win have come just below 3 miles ..........the other two appear to me more dour stayers
Chase The Spud at 12/1
Hainan at 7/1
-
Exe 4.15 - Pure Vision - win at 9/2 bog bet365
-
Hunt 2.20 - By Rail - ew at 40/1 bog bet365

Ascot 3.00
Dieg Man, Kildisart, Fixe Le Cap
3 is too many so I'm eliminating Dieg Man on the basis that we don't know how good his French form is and the two wins here have been novice races at Catterick and Sedgefield which are not top tracks
as a little post-script to this comment of mine I heard Nick Luck say something interesting on RUK
My assumption was that Dieg Man might not be that good because he had 'only' won novice events at Catterick and Sedgefield
But Nick's comment was that maybe the trainer had run him in low grade races for race experience knowing that he would be given a lower opening mark than if he had won novice events at Ascot and Newbury
I thought that was quite a though provoking point which hadn't occurred to me ........

Thanks Tiffy ...... you were a bit unlucky there with Scunny letting you down !
well done on hedging with the bet ........ looks like you won as much as you would have done winning the comp !
If it's any consolation I reckon we should both be in Div One next week.......
