i've given up on backing reading long ago although they have had some narrow matches. they are still hanging in there but it wouldn't surprise me if they do spring a surprise win especially since nottingham forest form has taken a nosedive in last couple of weeks.

i am shocked at what's happening to qpr. at the start of season they they were beaten 7-1 and lost four consecutive games and seem destined for the drop but since they have jumped up to 9th. they are scoring goals and winning games too. they look like they could be in the mix for play offs places.
ipswich are getting relegated and i don't see any miracles from them anytime from now until end of season. i've stayed away from their games and it's probably good to keep it that way. rotherham are tough to beat when they dig their heels in
admittedly hull are very capable side and are showing that buy fact they are unbeaten in last 8 and scored 20 or so goals at same time. its exceptional stat but since the coming of bruce to sheff wed and facing his former club i wonder if he can get the draw. i am convinced her will setup for a point
i am disappointed in aston villa. they just can't seem to keep the goals out. i've got no idea if they signed anyone yet to help them out defensively but they have had 5 score draws in last couple of games. they are far too much liability to rely on

    Guingamp vs Nice
In Ligue 1 this weekend we have a clash between two sides that are experiencing two completely contrasting spells of form. Bottom-placed Guingamp have lost their last three league games and they welcome Nice who have won their last four consecutive league matches. The game kicks off Saturday evening at 7pm at the Stade de Roudourou.
Guingamp have endured a rollercoaster season so far in Ligue 1. The Brittany-based club started the season with six straight defeats but discovered some form in September and October. Unfortunately, that run didn't last. The losses returned and the club's hierarchy made the bold decision to sack manager Antoine Koumbouare and replaced him with the club's former manager Jocelyn Gourvennec. The results haven't come yet and the club has been failing to win even with the fortune of being given a couple of penalties. It does not bode well for Guingamp.
Nice are in a period of rejuvenation. Questions had started to circle around the safety of Patrick Vieira's position as the club appeared to struggle to adapt to his stewardship. Recent weeks have seen things suddenly click. Four wins in the league all with clean sheets shows they are now an effective and organised unit under Vieira.
There is little in the head-to-head meetings and home/ away form to suggest we're looking at anything other than a Nice win here. Nice have won all five of the previous meetings between these two clubs. Vieira's men also boast the second best away record in the division suffering just 1 away defeat all season. On the contrary, Guingamp have the worst home record having failed to win a single game at home this season. I'm backing Nice to win and to win in a business-like manner.

    Roma vs Inter Milan
I'm usually not the biggest fan of betting on these big games in Serie A because they're tough to predict and the value is all over the place. However, there's such little going on this weekend in Italian football that I'm forced to try my hand at this Roma versus Inter Milan game taking place this Sunday at 7:30pm at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma were looking to be the big challengers to Juventus this season after their 3rd place finish last season and with Napoli's Maurizio Sarri leaving for Chelsea. However, it's not quite worked out that way. Eusebio Di Francesco has struggled to put together a run of positive results. This has led to the capital city side just about staying in touch with the European qualification pack in 7th place. Results need to improve immediately if qualifying for the Champions League is to remain a realistic goal.
Inter Milan are thriving with a more positive season. After seasons of under-achievement, Luciano Spalletti's men are in 3rd place. It might be a position that is 9 points adrift of league leaders Juventus but a top four finish and qualification for the Champions League would be proof that this massive European club are well and truly back from the doldrums.
This is a clash of ideologies coming in this game. Roma are the leading home scorers in Serie A with 16 goals scored in 6 home league games. In contrast, Inter Milan have only conceded 6 goals away from home. Only Juventus have a tighter defence on the road having conceded just 4 goals away.
If you're looking for a bet on the time of the goals then you'll be interested to know that Roma have scored 7 of their last 10 goals in the second half. To add to that, Inter have actually conceded 8 of their last 10 goals after the half-time interval. In other words, this could be a slow burner!
A key factor here is the injury list of Roma. The hosts will be without important pair Stephan El-Shaarawy and Edin Dzeko. Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrini. To throw even more bad news their way, it is also likely that Javier Pastore and Diego Perotti could miss out.
I'm going to have to back an Inter win here. Roma are enduring a tricky season and the visitors are well-drilled in grinding out results away from home. I get the feeling that the axe is getting closer to falling on the head of Di Francesco and anything but a win here for his side will put the pressure on. I'm not sure his team can handle that pressure.

slightly worried by derby in this fixture. i noted how they got beat by 10 men stoke in midweek even with their almost 75% more possession and double shots on goal so i don't know if poor form is creeping into their game.
i absolutely have to go with hull and reading to win. they must and it's simple as that and also the fact i see them putting more energy into it then their opponents. i know nobody will back against nottingham forest this week but i am giving another chance to ipswich as this is a match they could be underestimated and rises to occasion and if the referee decisions go the way maybe they win
i really hate it when blackburn concede at home but this should be home banker as they just got to make 3 points count at home

    Good Afternoon Everybody

Brighton 2 Leicester 1. Brighton are 21/10 to win this one with betvictor I think that is great value they are not a bad side at home with plenty of work, endeavour, and some pinches of quality in there. Obviously Leicester will not be pushovers but I expect Brighton to nick this with the odd goal in three. BRIGHTON TO WIN 21/10 BETVICTOR

Everton 2 Cardiff 0. Cardiff will be up after that win before the international break, but I feel Everton at Goodison will be to much for them, but I don't see a hammering, I edged for 2-0 over 2-1 here which I may regret. EVERTON TO WIN 2-0 6/1 BET365

Fulham 1 Southampton 2. Fulham this month for me have  caught up in that "the manager is not up to it" web that newly promoted clubs tend to believe and fall for, I think the manager change that can so often inspire victory in a new managers first game but I don't see that here, even though Southampton are poor I think they will nick it. OVER 2.5 GOALS 24/25 MARATHONBET

Man United 2 Palace 1. Think United will edge this but they seem to be on wobbly legs defensively, with anyone looking like they can score against them, however I think the quality of United will shine through, Martial has hit a nice little patch of form and United seem to be settling down a little bit therefore I think they will win this one with a nervy finish. BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE 21/20 BOYLESPORTS & SPORTINGBET

Watford 1 Liverpool 3. Now this will be a little tougher than the scoreline suggest, Watford seem to be right up for the big games at home, and I think this could be a bit end to end which will suit Liverpool and their flying forward tactics. LIVERPOOL TO WIN 3-1 12/1 BET365

West Ham 2 Man City 4. Am I being hopeful that the hammers will get 2?? probably but I see City being comfortable say 3-1 4-1 up and West Ham snatching another, City are head and shoulders above everyone with only Liverpool close in my opinion. OVER 4.5 GOALS 27/10 UNIBET & 888SPORT

Spurs 2  Chelsea 2 . On paper easily the game of the week and even as I am typing this I have not put  a score in, I think amongst the big games this season this is probably the hardest to call I think the two sides are very evenly matched and that will probably reflect in the result, I digress as I have still no idea what I want to put. I have ended up going for 2-2 and I am not sure why........2-2 12/1 BETVICTOR, BET365, BETSTARS & 188BET

Bournemouth 2  Arsenal 3. Think another tough one to call here but I see the reds of Arsenal having just to much for the Cherries here, and edging home by one goal in a high scoring game, Both sides like the attacking side of the game more than they do defending and I think this will play a big part in the score. OVER 4.5 GOALS 3/1 BETVICTOR, UNIBET, BETSTARS, 188BET & SPREADEX

Wolves 2 Huddersfield 0. Just because they are at home I believe Wolves will see this one out, Huddersfield are in no rush to score goals it seems and I see no change here, with Wolves attacking players doing all the damage they need to creep back up the table. WOLVES HALFTIME/FULLTIME 11/8 CORAL & LADBROKES

Burnley 1 Newcastle 0. Not the most thrilling of teams here which is why I have gone for a 1-0 home win, which means it will end up 3-3 . No seriously I see Burnley Scoring early and then hanging on for dear life to there lead, and Newcastle are not the most potent in front of the onion bag. BURNLEY HALFTIME/FULLTIME 4/1 LADBROKES, BETVICTOR & CORAL

Good hunting everyone, and if I have helped in any way you are very welcome and if I haven't, please sip a beer it could be worse

    Norwich vs Millwall
The second preview from the Championship games this week comes from the Norwich versus Millwall game that will take place at 3pm this Saturday at Carrow Road. The Canaries are the in-form team in the division with 4 wins on the trot but can they extend that run of results here against a Millwall side that have won 3 of their last 5 league games?
Norwich appeared to be heading down a down park that looked to be set for Daniel Farke's sacking in the early days of this season. However, an EFL Cup-inspired return to form has seen them shoot up the table to 2nd place. They are only denied outright top spot due to goal difference. It is now just 1 loss in their last 11 league games.
Millwall are a shadow of the play-off chasers of last season. Neil Harris has seen his team fail to hit any real positive form so far this season. The Lions are loitering in 19th place and are just 1 point above the relegation zone. They've failed to pick up a win on the road so far this season with 2 draws and 6 defeats away. Only Rotherham possess a worse away record in the Championship.
It makes total sense to back the Canaries here. Yes, they have lost three times in front of their home fans this season but 2 of those defeats came in August when the club was struggling to find its feet. Farke's side only won 1 of their opening 6 games in that period. They've since won 4 of their 5 home games. They are a team in the ascendancy and having watched them pick my Cardiff apart in the EFL Cup, albeit it a weakened Bluebirds side, I can see them carrying on this positive run for a while longer.

i think bournemouth will have a go at man utd and my feeling this match could have 4 or 5 goals. i also see goals in wolves vs tottenham match and another probably high scoring encounter.
if west ham fail to win their match is back to crisis again but they rested most first team players in cup midweek i hope they do it
cardiff are now on the up and they are good pick to get another win.

    Lille vs Caen
Ligue 1 throws up a potentially one-sided affair this weekend when in-form Lille host a struggling Caen side. The home team have a 100% record at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy ahead of this 7pm kick-off on Saturday but the away side will be hoping to get a victory and move further away from the relegation places.
Lille are 2nd in Ligue 1 after 10 games. Christophe Galtier's side might be 8 points off league leaders PSG but they have won their last three consecutive league games and are now 3 points clear of 3rd placed Montpellier. Can they make it six wins from six league games at home here?
Caen are 12th in the table. Fabien Mercedal's team might have only won 2 of their 10 league games so far but they have also drawn 50% of their matches. It shows they may well be a tough team to break down but they lack that clinical finish that could be the difference between Europe and mid-table or mid-table and a relegation battle.
The statistics don't make for attractive reading. Caen have failed to even score in 6 of their last 9 meetings. Caen have also only managed to win 2 of their last 20 Ligue 1 matches. It's a run of form that stretches from last season and suggests things haven't really changed too much heading into this season.
It's a simple pick here. Lille are perfect at home. Caen have only won 1 of their 5 league games on the road. I can see a solid win for the home side here as they continue their fine start to the season. I'd be confident backing them to win to nil and can see them prevailing even with a -1 handicap.

The last round was a bit disappointing for me, as I made the even on Full time result bets, mostly due to the missed penalty by Riyad Mahrez and the draw between City and Liverpool. Unfortunately, none of my Correct score was a winner, though some of them were pretty close (especially with all the missed chances by Marko Arnautović and West Ham) and there I recorded 10 units loss. Fortunately for me, these losses have been compensated by the previous rounds.
However, here is what I think about the meetings in this round. I must say this is very tough round to predict.
    Chelsea – Manchester United 1:0 8.5
The win for Chelsea is estimated at 1.72, which is too low when you have to bet against United in any form they are. This automatically means that a bet for the guests in this match would be totally justified with odds of 5.25, but this is something that must be decided by the betting strategy of each player. As far as what I expect from the game itself, I’m quite certain between 0:0 and 1:0. It is more than clear that Mourinho will park the bus and play to avoid losing. The only question is whether Eden Hazard will be able to do some magic or not. I still think he will succeed and that’s why my betting prediction is 1:0. However, I am going to bet on this match only for fun, but if I bet seriously then I would go for Under 2.5 goals scored in the match with odds of 2.
    Bournemouth – Southampton 2:1 9.5
Another match that is unclear for me, but at least the odds look better. Bournemouth’s home win against Southampton looks more secure than a possible win for Chelsea against United, but the bookmakers give odds of 2.15 for it. It is clear to everyone that the Cherries play great football and they deliver the ball quickly and very well. What is more important they are capable of gaining goals from their style of play. However, in this match they have many possible injury problems. The state of Joshua King and Ryan Fraser is still unclear. If King cannot take part in the match, it is questionable whether we will see Jermain Defoe in the game, and what he would do at the pitch. As for possible Fraser’s lack, Eddie Howie has a Junior Stanislas to replace him.
    Cardiff – Fulham 0:0 12
Another meeting in this nine round, which is a complete fog for me. Both teams are definitely among the weakest in the league and frankly this game can go in every direction.
    Manchester City – Burnley 3:0 6.5
Here, obviously, the only question is how many goals City will score. In fact, there is one more question. Will Burnley be able to score or not? Again a match where the odds do not suggest anything interesting for a good bet.
    Newcastle – Brighton 1:0 6.5
In this match, the home win odds seems to be quite accurate at 2.2 and there is no value bet, but I would still bet for Newcastle. In their last few matches (without the one against Leicester), the hosts are showing a more stable game, although the squad formation which Rafael Benítez 4-4-1-1 plays implies a lot of grief in attack. Apart from that, the schedule until January for Newcastle looks so good that I guess everyone in the team has been bumped for a good series of results. As for Brighton, they certainly did not impress in their victory against West Ham in the last round, but they are very strong in defense. That’s what makes me hesitate between 1:0 and 0:0, but the home factor weighs.
    West Ham – Tottenham 1:2 9
Another match in this round, which is best to miss. A London derby, where the hosts looked good in their last games, despite the loss against Brighton. Tottenham clearly have a higher class which makes this one a meeting in which it is difficult to find a good bet.
    Wolves – Watford 0:0 10
One of the games I’m going to bet on a surprise because most bets will definitely go for the hosts. Wolves certainly didn’t play that well against Palace in the last game. They really had only one good goal attempt in the game and realized it. However, only one good goal attempt in a match against a team like Palace doesn’t look good. Watford is in a bad series, but can get something out of this game.
    Huddersfield – Liverpool 1:3 13
Another match in that round, from which it is best to stay away. Many injuries in Liverpool, such as Salah, Mane, Firmino, Henderson, van Dijk and Milner. Apart from that, most Huddersfield’s players have been rested during the national teams matches, which cannot be said for the guests. Apart from that, Liverpool have a Champions League match next week. However, how would one bet on Huddersfield against Liverpool even after all that has been said so far? Moreover, the guests have substitutes for the injured players like Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge.
    Everton – Crystal Palace 1:1 7
One more match where I will bet on the surprise. Despite Everton’s victory over Leicester (which surprised me very much), the hosts seem to be not particularly strong in the attack. On the other hand, Palace played very well in the last match. However, there is a question will Wilfried Zaha be involved in the match.
    Arsenal – Leicester 3:1 12
Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are becoming more and more scary for everyone, and in their last game Arsenal has shown really great football. If this match against Leicester had been played last week, I have no concerns about how it would end. But now, after the break for the international meetings, I have the huge gap between the games in mind.
At the end to say it again, this ninth round of the Premier League is certainly the most difficult one so far, and at least I would bet on most of the games just for fun. No risks or high stakes for me.

    Inter Milan vs AC Milan
The Serie A action is back after the international break and what a way to return to the spot light with the Milan derby! Inter Milan take on AC Milan at the San Siro in a 7:30pm kick-off this Sunday and the big question is whether anyone is brave enough to make a call on this one?
Inter Milan are 3rd in the Serie A table but have already drifted to 8 points behind early pace setters and title favourites Juventus. It feels like the title is lost already. Luciano Spalletti saw the team finish 4th last season and an improvement has been demanded with an eye on consolidating Champions League football next season. A rocky start of just 1 win from their first 4 league games has settled down and the club are now on a run of 4 league wins on the trot.
AC Milan have been struggling to get the wins so far this season under Gennaro Gattuso. I Rossoneri are in 10th place but a positive run of results lately means that if they win their game in hand then they can move into the top four places. Gattuso's side are unbeaten in league action since the opening day of the season. It's just the issue of being able to turn draws into wins that has been a problem. Fortunately, it appears that has been fixed for the time being with impressive back-to-back wins against Sassuolo and Chievo.
Spalletti's side have been stuttering at home this season. 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss isn't the most convincing of records compared to their away form of 3 wins and 1 defeat. AC Milan aren't that great on the road though with just 1 win in their 4 away games so far this season.
My money has to back a draw here. Both sides are coming into form and a draw would be seen as a satisfactory result. Three of the last six derby matches have ended in a draw. I think we could see goals with Inter scoring an average of 1.5 goals per home game and AC Milan hitting 2 goals per game away.
It's also interesting to see that Inter Milan have gotten into the habit of scoring late goals. The club averages 0.8 goals per game after the 75th minute of their matches. The bottom line now is that if you're at an Inter game then don't leave early to beat the traffic. That's a good outside bet to place if you're looking for one. For me, I'm going for a score draw.

    Valencia vs Leganes
Hello, we're back again after some time off. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Spain batter my Wales side 4-1 in the international break so always good to drift back into this forum! Our preview for this weekend is Valencia taking on Leganes in a 3:15pm kick-off this Saturday afternoon at the Mestalla.
Valencia have had a bizarre start to their La Liga season. Marcelino's side might have only won 1 game but they've also only lost 1 game. Yes, that's right. Valencia have drawn 6 of their first 8 league matches. It has to be said, some context needs to be addressed for those results because those draws have included Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Betis, and Celta Vigo.
It means Los Che are languishing in 14th place but the panic button is nowhere near close to being pressed. Marcelino's side have a fantastic chance to start building up the wins with a run of games against the so-called weaker sides starting with Leganes at home tonight. That game is followed by Athletic Bilbao, Girona, Getafe, and Rayo Vallecano. All matches they will have ambitions to win.
Leganes might not be as easy a proposition as Valencia might hope. Former Southampton head coach Mauricio Pellegrino might have failed in the Premier League but he knows La Liga well. After an opening run of 5 league games without a win, Leganes have won 2 of their last 3 league matches including beating Barcelona 2-1 at home.
Unfortunately, that's the problem for Leganes. At home they are proving difficult opponents for any team. 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss at the Butarque is impressive but their away record of four defeats from four matches with 2 goals for and 8 goals against is the worst in the Spanish top flight. To add to that, stretching back into last season, Leganes are now without a point in 11 league games on the road.
So it will come as no surprise that I think Valencia will win this and win it well. Marcelino's side might be misfiring in front of goal with just 6 goals scored in 8 league games but their defence is doing their job with just 7 goals conceded in 8 matches including three clean sheets in their last 5 league games.
I'm expecting a Valencia win with another clean sheet and I can see Marcelino's side getting the job done efficiently. I wasn't impressed by Pellegrino at Southampton at all. He's returning to the club he managed in 2012 and actually enjoyed a win rate of 47.6% with the club. However, he's clearly taken a knock to his confidence at Southampton and I'm not sure he'll enjoy his return to the Mestalla.

    St Etienne vs Rennes
Ligue 1 action is back this weekend after some time off for the international break. It's tough to find value this week but I think I've found it in a 4pm kick-off this Sunday at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard where St Etienne will host Rennes in a game that could be an intriguing one.
St Etienne are looking like real contenders for a European spot this season. Jean-Louis Gasset has guided his side to 5th in the table with 3 wins from their last 4 league games. The 3-1 defeat before the international break to a Lille side that are also impressing came at a bad time but after some time to pause for reflection it might have been a gap in matches that Gasset's team needed.
Rennes are doing OK so far. 11th place in the Ligue 1 table is slightly behind on their 5th placed finish last season but they're still chugging along without any real need for panic. Sabri Lamouchi's side were fortunate to beat Monaco away 2-1 due to the home side getting a man sent off. It was their first win in four league matches so can they build on it now?
The most important factor for me here is how well St Etienne have been playing at home. It's 3 wins and 1 draw from their first 4 league games at home. Only PSG, Lille, and Marseille have earned more points at home this season. The key has been defence with just two goals conceded in those matches. Rennes have been free-scoring on the road but are also conceding an average of 2 goals per game away. I think this game could see a tighter affair with St Etienne's solid defence keeping the goal count down.
So on that basis, I'm going to have to back St Etienne for the home win at the odds listed. I've been impressed with their form so far and I think there are still issues that Rennes haven't sorted. The win against a struggling Monaco team was fortuitous and before that they were looking like a team that might get sucked into a relegation battle this season. It could be a tough game on the road here.
