StevieDay1983
Fleetwood vs Blackpool Derby games are always intense affairs and with just 22 miles separating these two clubs it looks like Fleetwood versus Blackpool could once again be an intriguing clash. This League One game is set for a 3pm kick-off at Highbury Stadium this Saturday afternoon. Fleetwood doing OK under Joey Barton. The Cod Army are sitting in 13th place but are just 5 points off the play-off place and comfortably 9 points clear of the relegation spots. However, losing back-to-back league games has halted progress for the team as they come into this huge clash with their local rivals. Blackpool continue to play under the shadow of discontent. Fans are still at war with the board but the players and management battle on. The Seasiders are unbeaten in the league under Terry McPhillips and are positioned in 10th place in the table just 3 points off the play-offs but with a couple of games in hand on their rivals. In terms of head-to-head battles, it makes for dominant reading for Blackpool. The two sides have met 5 times in all competitions. It has resulted in 3 wins for Blackpool and 2 draws. Fleetwood have failed to even score in three of those encounters. Not great news for Fleetwood fans. The worrying statistic for Fleetwood is their reliance on star striker Ashley Hunter. Barton's side are one of the worst teams in the division for hitting the target at home. In fact, Only Bradford have had less shots on target at home than Fleetwood in the entirety of League One. To make matters worse, no team has conceded less shots on target on the road than Blackpool this season. This could be a war of attrition. Derby games can often be tense affairs and the combination of Fleetwood being profligate at home in the final third and Blackpool knowing how to run a tight ship on the road could mean a single goal settles this. I think it'll be an away win... just. StevieDay1983
St Johnstone vs St Mirren In a restricted SPL fixture list due to cup action this weekend it's the battle of the saints as St Johnstone entertain St Mirren at McDiarmid Park for this 3pm kick-off on Saturday. A win for the home side will move them above Aberdeen into 7th place but a win for the visitors would potentially move them up to 9th place and away from the relegation zone. St Johnstone had lost four matches in a row across all competitions before their narrow 1-0 win away to under-performing Motherwell in their last game. Tommy Wright's side had conceded 14 goals during that losing spell so the clean sheet was the icing on the cake. St Mirren are having a season to forget. It's only the fact Dundee are even more shambolic that they are saved the humiliation of being bottom of the SPL. Oran Kearney was brought in to replace Alan Stubbs who was sacked after just a matter of a few months in charge. Kearney's appointment has done little to boost form. The form books don't make for positive reading for St Mirren fans. Prepare yourselves if you're one of them! St Johnstone have won 4 of the past 5 meetings between these two sides in the SPL. They have also kept a clean sheet in each of those victories. Furthermore, St Mirren have lost 4 of their last 5 matches at McDiarmid Park. As if their current run of results of four back-to-back defeats in the league wasn't bad enough! Backing St Johnstone to win has to be done but it's worth noting that St Johnstone haven't scored more than one goal in their last 10 home league matches. Could this be a narrow 1-0 victory for Wright's side? Maybe. If they're going to break that one goal curse though it's likely to happen in a game like this against a team that has conceded 13 goals in just 4 away matches. allyhibs
Dumbarton v East Fife The odds on the away win are too high here. East Fife should be winning this against a poor Dumbarton. East Fife @ 2.40 Stirling v Edinburgh City This looks like a formality for Edinburgh who look a class above everything in this league. There's a bit of value on the away win at 1.75, I'd have it nearer to 1.50 myself but I'm confident of an easy win here. allthethings
L2 Crawley 3.83 L1 AFC Wimbledon-Luton X 3.53, Sunderland-Southend X 3.40 Wasn't gonna take Southend, but I guess it barely got over the line for me. I really like the other two. Luton drew half their matches away last season while getting promoted...this is a good spot for Wimbledon to get something. Crawley are not winning away this season as much as I like yet, but they have to turn the corner sometime.
