Who had the Murphy/Vafaei double? No-one probably! Robbo was poor but I guess he has been quite sick over the holidays. Selby was also strangely off his game as well tonight.
I also like Williams to win it this year.

I've not had too much that I've liked the look of in this event so far but this afternoon I'm going to take Murphy to beat McGill. I think Murphy is hitting abit of form now and that could largely be the "banter/harrestment' with Mark Allen spurring him on or he could just be practising more. He beat a player in good form when he went and beat Sam Craigie 4-1 and Murphy hit 2 centuries and a 50+ break in that 4-1 win.
Other bet I will take is Gould to beat Ronnie. Despite being much better at winning games he can't be bothered to play I still think Ronnie starts games like he can't be bothered and he went 2-0 down in his last before coming back. Not with any major performance though. Gould looked decent in his last match and I think in reality, 3/1 isn't the price he should be.

I have lived 13 years in Shanghai (got a Masters degree in Chinese) and got many Chinese friends, sports betting there is absolutely insane, even though it is supposed to be illegal there are tons of websites (including Chinese versions of Betway or Bodog for instance) and people bet like mad.
I used to bet on Chinese football including 2nd league; some of the games I watched live and witnessed some out of the blue situations of obvious match fixing (the goal keeper pretending blantantly to miss a basic pass and score an own goal , 4 goals scored in 5 minutes with the defenders not moving , players running around stupidly ike Benny Hill videos and pretending to slip etc... ) so I have no doubt that the allegations must be true; fixing games when you are the only player deciding the outcome is so easy.
And the reason I follow snooker is one of my Chinese friends is good friend with Ronnie O'Sullivan and when he went to Shanghai in 2018 I spent several evenings with them.

It was my local tournament so thought I'd better make an effort! I was only there for about half the week but with 4 tables in one hall you do get to see most of the players. I was a bit surprised it was on the 2nd floor but I suppose they must have the facilities(goods lifts?) to get the tables up there as it would have been tricky using the small passenger lifts. I missed Trump's 147 unfortunately as I'd decided to go in later that day, I did see one of Ronnie's 147s about 20 years ago vs Quinten Hann up in Aberdeen though! 

Hope we get a Tom vs Jack final for a first ranking victory for one of them!

A cracking 147 it was too though Ronnie rudely didn't acknowledge him as is customary!

Infact I just read that Trump hit a 147 so glad I left that alone.

It shows how random an event can be with a random draw really. Day was terrible in the tournament until the final. Produced when it mattered though. Allen has lost so much weight, blimey.

What a great 147 from Fu in the decider in front of 7000-8000 people! That must the highlight of his career, I must say he's playing a lot better than we all expected - I hope he goes on to win the trophy.
