You are digging faster than ever. 'Possible returns' of close to 750pts in a day !!! Yet actual returns of 0. I gave you some solid advice about field sizes, race types, and staking, yet you still carry on regardless. Maybe one day you will 'get lucky', but the way you stake, and the big losses ... you will need a 'lucky day'. Take a step back and look at your selection process and staking. I use a 50pt bank and would have wiped out almost 2 banks in 2 months betting like this.

A win for common sense. Have a lucky 15 or trixie ... when you feel strongly enough about the selections, not because the day in question ends in a Y.

Have to agree with @Zilzalian about the EW bets - especially on a 4/1 chance. All you are doing is 'accepting losses' but trying to limit them.
On the positive side.. doesn't winning 1pt feel better than losing ? Keep it up.

    Lucky 15 at Wolves
    5.10 Latest Edition 3/1
    5.45 Dayzee 6/4
    7.15 Bomb Squad 5/1
    7.45 Dark Design 4/1
    1 x 0.20 ew L15 = poss return of 156.64 = 6 points
    Singles at Wolves
    5.10 Smooth ryder 0.50 ew at 4/1
6.45 Gavi Di Gavi 0.50 ew at 9/1
    7.15 Top Exhibit 0.50 ew at 13/2 (4TBP)
Total stakes today = 11 points
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bomb Squad got beaten a nose and Dark Design got beat half a length.  Gavi Di Gavi won and Smooth Ryder placed.  Three returns yielded 12.06 hence I made a profit of 1.06 @Bang onshould be proud of me ?.  Seriously, I did limit the races for my multiples to his previously advised races to include for betting purposes.  This make my MTD -60.70 and YTD -84.40
I am looking forward to tomorrow's racing

I think the main problem with this punter is that he has collected so many different "ways, methods and or systems" most/all don't work as proofed by his results. His biggest problem therefore is that he just can't bring himself to ditch all/any of them so he ends up switching back and forth cycling through them and getting the same results. He clearly loves to have a bet but is terrified of losing and therein lies another problem, a great example is when i told him that Imperium couldn't win because.... his immediate instinct/reaction was to lay off the bet. some might say that has its merit and i would agree if we were talking about £100's but he deals in pennies. It seems to me that the last thing he actually looks at is the bloody horse, i mean everything else takes precedent Even The brigadier or tedthewolf or richard or jonjo etc etc. He comes on here and checks out what everyone else is doing and bets on those observations the horse seems surplus to requirements. If he spent as much time looking at race cards, results and or races as he does other peoples posts he might then start to use his own eyes and head and pick some gg's of his own based on his own observations which will make a winner all the sweeter for him thus boosting his confidence. But alas i fear he will pick something negative out of this comment and or yours and use it has an excuse instead of taking it all on board and moving forward positively.

I was looking at a year end loss of around 1pt per day (wasn't your loss around the 365pt mark ?), and as we are only in Feb, you are losing more than 1pt per day..
I am just trying to get you to focus properly. You are 'happy' to lose around 1pt per day, yet are not content with .. trying to WIN 1pt per day. Believe me, that would be an excellent turn around, and a great platform to then press on.

You are right to give me a ticking off.  I shouldn't have had 2 pts ew on Urban Dandy.  I did realise my mistake subsequently.  In future I will only increase my stakes the next day when I have won the previous day.  Not sure what you mean by I am losing more than the same time last year.  My spreadsheet shows -112.07 at this time last year.  I have complicated things a bit by switching to longer-priced selections so I guess I will have longer losing runs and my YTD may well increase a bit before I get lucky.  Yes, I do need to focus on my selection method.  I am trying to choose between 3/1 - 9/1 shots for my win L15 and win bets and anything from 7/1 + for my EW L15.  Oddly enough the outsiders are fairing better than the mid-range priced selections atm.  Very many thanks for your comments; always welcome

You would have lost less doing 8 x 1pt win singles. Whenever you are having a trixie or lucky 15 go pear shaped.. you ALWAYS back the ones still to run as  a 'saver' type bet. This is just chasing losses and never ends well. If you felt so strongly about these selections you may as well just back these and have a larger stake on them. You really need to put the shovel down and evaluate your selections and staking ..  you are already ahead of last years losses. Stop digging and take a look at your selection method.

Bit similar to the last race ...... a horse doing something different to what he's done recently. In this case my selection is dropping back in trip and has first time cheekpieces. Down a couple of lbs since last time and down from class 3 to class 5

Of course, you are right in many ways, especially about trying to recoup losses on the day.  However, I think that it is not the multiple bets that are bad for me it is the singles bets.  I need to be extra careful when selecting and placing these in the future.  I like the multiple bets from the point of view that I can have say 8 selections and have an entertaining day of racing without losing my shirt.  In fact with the Betfred offer of triple the odds with just one winner I can often recover costs if just one horse wins.  So, for the time being, at least I will be posting up, where possible one L15 with odds of generous prices each way and another multiple bet with selections at lower prices but never less than 2/1.
I shall be very careful with the "win" bets from now on. Placing too many win bets on any racing day is not a good idea.
I haven't given up on the "lay" bets, I just haven't had time to look at them.  I highlight on my daily worksheets all the "bad" factors e.g. Nov H'cap chases and races with over 10 runners etc. that you kindly sent to me and regard these races as good races for laying favourites.
Many thanks once again for your advice

You are changing your approach yet again. At least you are looking for better prices.. but.. you have gone to the other extreme. You started the year doing 'lay bets', but that has disappeared, now you are backing 'each way - 5 to be placed'. Wow ! You are actually looking for likely losers in the hope that they might finish in the first 5. You have gone from trixies to lucky 15's just because others do this. Find your OWN strengths instead of trying to copy what others do, not everyone bets the same way. You are always looking to 'balance the books' in a single bet with the 'possible returns'. Do you not think that it is a case of 'deja poo' (i've seen this sh1t before).
I applaud your never say die attitude, but you need to find YOUR best selection method. Don't over think things or try to second guess what a trainer intends for his/her horse today. Stick to the basics and start to turn things around one step at a time. Trying to win it all back at once is just chasing losses... and that never ends well.

Okay but like you said your not a gambler, if you was i would totally agree with @MCLARKE and @Bang on singles only, but because your basically fishing about for mainly short price winners with pennys and because of the triple/double odds for one winner on a lucky 15 it makes the patent very poor value and even trixies very very poor value. you did every thing right except not covering the 4 singles in an additional lucky15. like i said you would have been gutted if 3 or all 4 of those singles had won. (the one winner you had was profit on a treble odds lucky15) might i finally suggest 4 singles and also same 4 singles in 1 lucky 15 per day a serving suggestion would maybe be something like a 20p lucky 15 (£3.00) and 1 point singles (£4.00) = 7points per day which is about what u spend as it is. the odds should be irrelevant in your case just use the horses you pick.

My dad used to like doing Patents's I can still remember the beaming smile on his face when he used to get one in.  He gave most of his winnings away anyway when he won but thoroughly enjoyed the moment of having a big win.  It is to this end that I endeavour with my multiple bets.  Just to get a buzz when one comes in.  I have no intention of becoming a professional gambler, I just want to be able to have a regular daily bet without losing my shirt.  Your Lucky15 strategy seems to centre around outsiders.  That's OK and I love it when I see you post up a betting slip that says something like cash out for £1.5k or possibly get £13k.  However, I am different to you and my multiples form a big part of my daily stakes, which as Michael @MCLARKE and @Bang onpoint out is very undesirable and probably the quickest way to the poor house.  They are also correct when they say that betting on singles is the only way to make money in this game.  And, as you point out the only way to do it is to specialise in racing and look over and over again at past races and wait until the right opportunity comes to strike a "value" bet.  I have yet to find any criteria that I can use to rely upon for regular daily bets.  But it is my hobby and though I may never find it this is what I want to do.  I will press ahead with my revised plan for the Lucky 15's.  Good luck in your endeavour too

The big betting race this Saturday is the Virgin Bet Heroes Handicap Hurdle at Sandown. This premier handicap is run over 2 miles 7 furlongs and 98 yards and is open to horses aged 4 years or older.
15 go to post and the off time is 2.55.
Topofthegame won this in 2018 before going on to win at that year’s Cheltenham festival.
Some bookmakers offer each-way terms of 5 places which makes the race a good betting proposition.
The race was abandoned in 2012, 2013 and 2014 due to the weather and there was no race in 2021 so there is a smaller size of data than the ideal but I'll have a bash anyway.

I have looked at the statistics for this race and these are my key conclusions.
    1.       Those horses carrying lighter loads have a good record. Horses carrying less than 10st 11lbs have won 6 times from 50 attempts with a level stakes profit of £15. Their heavier opposition have a record of 1 win from 52 attempts with a loss of £46.
    2.       It is better to side with experienced horses. Those horses that have had more than 13 runs have produced 4 wins from 24 runs and a profit of £24. Their less experienced competitors have 3 wins from 78 runs and a loss of £55.
    3.       Outsiders have a poor record in this race. There have been 52 horses with forecast odds higher than 11/1 and all have lost.
    4.       It is best to sidestep those horses with obvious from. Horses that have had more than 3 wins in their last 10 runs have produced 0 wins from 7 runs. Having said that, there should be some evidence that a horse has winning form, there have been 11 horses with 0 wins in their last 10 runs and they have all lost.

There are 2 horses that match these criteria.
COQUELICOT – available at 10/1 with William Hill, 5 places.
GREEN BOOK – available at 8/1 with BET365, 4 places. Green Book won this last year under the same jockey.

I still recommend that you stop with the trixies, a quick look at last years results should scream that at you. You had 9 points staked, and even with a double in a trixie you managed just 0.12 pts profit. Just backing them as singles would have given you (B.O.G.) Buxted Too 10/3, Miss Moonshine 3/1, Hard Iron 13/8, and Showmedemoney 2/1.. for a 0.95pt profit. It is really frustrating when you have a 3/1 winner (Miss Moonshine) and nothing to go with it meaning you lose. With a trixie there are 4 bets, and with 1 loser you are only left with 1 bet running for you. Don't waste stakes, make better use of it. I hope you turn it around, and have to admire your determination, but 'fewer mistakes' will at least stop the rot first.
