Newc 5.00 - Casa Luna - 9/1 bet365

Taking a punt on a lightly raced type here making her handicap debut after 3 runs in Novice races. Last time she finished 6 lengths behind Berkshire Breeze who has since hosed up in a Class 2 handicap. Sometimes with these AW handicaps it just pays to look for runners who are still unexposed from the handicapper but have some bits of form which suggest they might be better than they have shown so far

Bit similar to the last race ...... a horse doing something different to what he's done recently. In this case my selection is dropping back in trip and has first time cheekpieces. Down a couple of lbs since last time and down from class 3 to class 5

Pity that Knockbrex couldn't get placed after leading the field for most of the race. I would have wiped out most of my YTD loss.  The 3 placed horses provided a return of 9.66 and another place bet on city Derby 1.70.  Hence a small loss on the day of 0.64.  My MTD is now -41.38 and YTD -65.08

Three meetings tomorrow so maybe there will be some more opportunities for me to find

Yes.  Funny enough I have 3 placed because Betfred had an extra place in City Derby's race. If only Knockbrex can place I could be in profit for once

7pm Newcastle - Mr Coco Bean - 8/1 - various bookies

The consistent Mr Coco Bean has only been out of the first 4 once in his last 6 starts and so should rate a solid ew bet here. He was behind both Odd Socks Havana & Laoch Gach La last time however there is hope that he can reverse that form. He was briefly short of room 3f out and had to be switched fairly sharply left, his challenge then being taken down the far side which as everyone know is not the place to be at Newcastle. Despite being against that bias he was only beaten less than 3 lengths. He has a weight swing with the two mentioned above and with a better passage I think he should have a decent chance.

My other selection (Casa Luna) was well beaten but had drifted to 25/1 before the start so I guess she wasn't 'off' today

Must admit that if I see my horse drifting badly in the betting I do tend to give up hope ....... some punters would say that you picked it because you thought it would win and if it drifts get more money on because you still think it should win but now you're getting better odds

I guess it's just human nature to be pessimsitic !
