Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 im off to Kings in Gloucester to watch the game against Sussex, its a small ground with a tesco and railway line and roads around it, If Mccullum/Wright/Smith/Franklin get going could be carnage, think Sussex will win despite Glos have a decent record at Kings.:ok:beer

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20

Well you very nearly missed the J Cameroon bet. Have been a follower of ur bets since a long time and just want to let you know that you are doing a fantastic job mate. You are helping us punters take these bookies on, in more ways than even u know. Your comment on Worcs bowling being awful helped me big time. I betted big on Notts to score 43+ runs in the first 6 overs and made a handsome profit. So its not only ur bets, but ur overall opinion is priceless. Just wanted to point this out to you. Am sure u understand what i mean. KUDOS ! :ok Keep em coming.
Cheers mate. Pleased to know I'm helping others win some cash too :ok.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Onto tonight then. Heavy night for me. 4 match bets and 2 bets in the TV game which is Hampshire vs Somerset. I'm looking forward to the game itself but not looking forward to the result I don't think :$. Match bets in this post 1st and the next one and the TV game bets will come in a 3rd post. 3pts Middlesex to beat Kent 6/5 Blue Square Neither of these sides have begun the twenty20 well. Kent beat Essex in their opening game but have lost two matches since while Middlesex have lost both their matches so this is a big match for these sides who are both looking for a win with Sussex already blazing a trail at the top of the table. Kent look set to keep the same side which lost against Sussex here on Wednesday which means that there's a youthful element to their bowling attack and very much a lack of pace to it. Darren Stevens seems set to open these days with Azhar or Matt Coles his opening partner with the ball. Key and Denly haven't set the world alight but both possess serious quality and they'll look to set it up for Stevens to flay away when he comes in. Middlesex have the main man in town tonight. Dave Warner makes his county debut this evening and he could well partner his Australian counterpart Adam Gilchrist in this one after Gilly asked to play, so disappointed is he in his performances so far. Gilly was due to play only the Lords matches at Middlesex this season. Shah, Morgan, Dexter and Malan form a solid top 6. The bowling is a little light with Collins and Berg open to be hit but can be tricky if conditions suit. Tom Smith suffered at the hands of Kieron Pollard on Wednesday but that's an experience he can only learn from. I said all along I think Middlesex will go well in this competition once Warner arrives. Their batting lineup looks very good and if they can pace their innings well then I think the Panthers will take some beating here. Kent rely a lot on their spin duo of Tredwell and Bandara with the ball but Shah and Morgan are sublime players of spin. Both are in good nick and I think that can lead to a Middlesex win here. 3pts Warwickshire to beat Durham 10/11 Betfred Warwickshire have begun twenty20 life very nicely indeed. They've picked up two solid wins from two matches and here they face a Durham side who look in a bit of disarray to me. Durham have lost twice, very heavily and had a washout against Worcestershire. A win for Warwickshire here will see them start to pull away from the pack. Warwickshire have been very comfortable in their two matches and that's because they have a good batting lineup and a good bowling attack too. Jon Trott and Ian Bell are included today as is twenty20 specialist Darren Maddy and along with Carter's big hitting and the skills of Troughton form a good batting lineup. Carter and Woakes are solid with the new ball then it's over to the pace off and spin bowling of Imran Tahir, Botha and Maddy. Durham have a powerhouse top 6 but looking from afar nobody wants to take the responsibility in it to ensure a big score is made. With the ball they have an attack which can scare people as I said yesterday but I sense the senior players aren't behind Mustard. I'm not a fan of wicket keepers captaining a side but even more so when there's no experience there at all. He's struggling and I think it will be hard to turn that around. Warwickshire are flying. They understand their roles in one day cricket so well and are very tough to beat. Durham can beat anyone on their day but they look a bit of a shambles at the minute so I'm happy to be on the Bears here.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 3pts Worcestershire to beat Northants 10/11 VC Another side with a few problems right now are Northants and despite taking a good hiding against Notts last night, Worcestershire aren't actually going too badly in this competition having walloped Yorkshire and had a rained off game with Durham. Northants have played 3 and lost 3 and will be getting desperate for a win. Northants will be without Mal Loye and David Sales for this match. Both are injured as is Stephen Peters who is the real form man with the bat for the Steelbacks at the minute. Chaminda Vaas leads the bowling attack with Andrew Hall and Nicky Boje offering international experience but there's a few youngsters in this Northants side who are struggling a little bit. Rob White returns to the side tonight but Niall O'Brien is playing with a broken finger. Lou Vincent makes his home debut this evening. Worcestershire are likely to be unchanged from last night. There's no Dirk Nannes or Ryan Sidebottom to go through them tonight and if their batsmen are clever and play for each other they should be able to put up a decent score with the batting talent on show. As I said last night, I don't rate Worcestershire's bowling attack but Northants' batting isn't the greatest so they should get away with it. Northants are playing really poorly in one day cricket this season. Worcestershire have a decent batting lineup and Steven Smith should go well with the ball here. If their batsmen are more disciplined, and seeing the way Vikram Solanki was after the game last night, I expect they will be, then I think the Royals will come away with the 2pts here. 3pts Glamorgan to beat Essex 11/8 Bet365 Glamorgan have begun their Friends Provident T20 campaign with 2 wins from their two matches and you'd have to say two pretty comfortable wins. Essex haven't been as good. They've lost to Kent in their opening game but edged past Surrey last night so this should be a decent match. Graham Napier failed a fitness test on his back last night and it remains to be seen whether he's back for the Eagles tonight. In his absence the batting will revolve around Bopara, ten Doeschate, Grant Flower and Scott Styris who makes his home debut as overseas player. David Masters always goes well with the ball as will Danish Kaneria. Glamorgan are likely to be unchanged again so the big hitting Mark Cosgrove and Jim Allenby will open the batting with Dalrymple, Maynard and Rees forming a confident middle order. Shaun Tait will be out to terrify the Essex batsmen and James Harris will look to go well before the spin trio of Robert Croft, Dean Cosker and Jamie Dalrymple get to work. Glamorgan are going well and while the bookies are surprised, I'm not and I think they are a big price here. They have their plans and roles worked out and if the likes of Tait can get stuck in early with the ball then the Dragons can very much come out of this one with a win at a very nice 11/8.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 And now the TV game. 3pts Hampshire vs Somerset - Over 7.5 6's 8/11 Skybet The Rose Bowl is a big playing surface but the boundaries do come in a fair bit for the twenty20 matches and I think they will be very much accessible here. We've got some tremendous hitters on show here. Lumb, Adams, Carberry, Ervine, Christian and Razzaq for Hampshire and Trescothick, Kieswetter, Hildreth, Trego and the biggest of them all, Pollard for Somerset. Neither bowling attack are particularly good and both offer up their fair share of balls to get after. I think we'll see a high scoring game here on a wicket which hasn't been used recently by all accounts. Conditions look set fair so I think we're in for a match which will contain at least 8 6's. 1.5pts ew K.Pollard Top Somerset Batsman 6/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) I was fortunate enough to be at Lords on Wednesday night when Kieron Pollard was at his brilliant best, hitting 89 off 45 balls. I sat there and wondered how you can get him out and if you don't do it early he's going to take the game away from you before you do get him out, if you get him out at all. Pollard is in at 5 for Somerset in this competition but he has the potential to move up if needs be. There's some really good batsmen in this Somerset side but Pollard can score at a rate nobody else can. Given how he went the other night I'm amazed we're able to make a profit on a place here but we are and given that we are I'm having a firm ew bet on the West Indian.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Trescothick top somerset batsman 3/1 will hill 1 point I've been stung recently with some T20 top batsman selections whereby the selection hasn't had enough time at the crease to have even a chance of being top bat. Tresco always has the potential to obliterate a bowling attack and whilst not in his top form, he is always capable of a big score and could feast himself on the medium fast bowling attack. 3 points Somerset most 6's will hill 5/6 Every single one of somersets top 7 are capable and willing to hit a big ball. Hampshires have some big hitters particulalry Lumb, Razzaq and Ervine, but simply do not possess the all round firepower of Somersets potent hitters, even if a number of them fail, Pollard has the potential to hit loads by himself in double quick time.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Cheers for the 6's bet yesterday Kev, we got there eventually with it, although it looked in doubt with Worc's low score until Andrew added some muscle lower down the order. Looking forward to tonights match, its a shame for your boys that KP, Afridi and Dimi aren't playing although as a ciderman I'm glad! All the best mate.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Glamorgan fan here but I am honestly shocked that we are 11/8 in some places vs an essex side whose success is decided by whether Ryan TD goes well. Im dissapointed that I didnt have the cash to back us outright at the start of the comp, I dont think anyone has the depth with the ball that we do, dalrymple, brown and allenby effectively only have to make up one bowler. I think I like Middlesex as a dog, presence of Warner should lift them, he can get them off to a good start and morgan can finish rather than rebuild.

this depth doesnt extend to the 2nd XI, why the **** is will owen playing? This is classic Matthew Maynard self destruct team selection.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 and dalrymple obviously learning from his own mistakes, forces cosker to bowl 2nd last over in the last game and he goes for 16, decides to bowl the 3rd last himself tonight and goes for 24, doh! Cosker must be either pissing himself laughing or livid and ready to walk out, complete joke and were going to lose to a weak team because of it.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Poor night for me last night both betting wise and as a Hampshire fan. Hampshire can moan all they like about the wicket, and it wasn't good, but the wicket doesn't cause 2 stupid run outs. -4.27pts last night so back to -16.13 overall now ahead of today's live game which is Somerset vs Surrey.

Saturday 12 June 2010 Home Away BPP
maximize.gif Somerset v Surrey (14:40 BST) 1.53 2.88 99.94 %
I'm going with 3 for this one but I'm pushed for time with the toss less than an hour away so no massive writeup's. 4pts Over 10.5 6's 5/6 William Hill Somerset had a really tough night with the bat last night but this is Taunton. We're assured of a good batting deck and also very short boundaries. Before the Hampshire game, Somerset hit 9 6's at Lords on boundaries which in places will be up to 20m longer than we're going to get here. We've got 2 of the biggest hitters of a cricket ball in the world on show here in Kieron Pollard and Andrew Symonds. There's also Trescothick, Kieswetter, Buttler, Hildreth, Trego, Davies, Hamilton-Brown, Younis and even Ramprakash who can swipe a ball when the need arises. Neither bowling attack is much cop. They can be tight but they can go for a few as well. Batting at Taunton is always a joy and with two sides who have long, powerful batting lineups I'm pretty confident we'll get at least 11 6's here. 3pts A.Symonds' Performance Pts - 42&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. Andrew Symonds has done next to nothing in his 2 matches for Surrey so far but like Adam Gilchrist yesterday, when the need arises the big men tend to stand up and with Surrey in need of a win I expect Symonds to come to the party today, in front of the TV cameras. If he can get in then these boundaries aren't nearly long enough for him and then with the ball he could well pick up wickets against a very aggressive Somerset batting lineup. He's also still one of the best fielders in the world so he's sure to be involved heavily in this afternoon's game. 3 ways of scoring makes 42pts more than achievable so I'm on the overs here. 1pt ew K.Pollard Top Somerset Batsman 11/2 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Kieron Pollard makes his home debut for the Sabres today and there's no way on this earth the boundaries here are going to contain him if he gets in. He was cruelly run out by a wandering Trescothick last night so as of now he hasn't been got out by the opposition yet. Kieswetter looks out of touch at the minute with single figure scores in his last two matches. Pollard is going to bat at number 5 which is fine because nobody will be too far clear of him when he comes into bat, such is the speed he scores his runs at. One or two of the Somerset batsmen could have mental demons from the horror pitch they struggled on last night but Pollard doesn't deal in that stuff. He sees the ball and then hits it into the local river. At 11/2, with a slight profit brought in if he's in the top 3, I'll go with Pollard again today after I was denied a chance of him top scoring by a run out last night.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Ok I'm going with 2 bets in each TV game and 2 other match bets. TV matches in this post. 3pts Glamorgan to beat Sussex 11/8 Totesport Something's got to give here as both these sides have 100% records in the competition to date and both have just come off the back of excellent run chases in their last matches. Confidence will be high in both camps coming into this one. The win may be more important for Sussex who lose two key players after this one but a win for Glamorgan will put them top of the table with a game in hand. Both sides have named unchanged squads for this match. Glamorgan will open up with Mark Cosgrove who came so close to a 1st twenty20 century the other night. Jim Allenby will be his partner and the explosive Tom Maynard will look to continue his good form. Sussex have Brendan McCullum and Matt Prior opening up with Goodwin, Joyce, Yardy and Wright forming an all international top 6. Both teams have very good bowling attacks. Both go well with spin although Glamorgan have 3 good spin options to Sussex's 2. However Sussex have quality in Arafat and Kirtley but Glamorgan will think they have the seam sorted with Tait and Harris their pace weapons. I think this will be a really game of cricket but I've seen nothing so far to suggest Glamorgan should be such big outsiders in this match. Sussex are going well but so are Glamorgan's bowlers. If the Dragons top 4 can score well then I think they can extend their unbeaten record in this one. 3pts Sussex Most 6's 13/8 Blue Square This is a big price and easily the biggest out there. Sussex have serious 6 hitters in their ranks. McCullum and Prior can clear most ropes in this country and a few others, as can Luke Wright. Chris Nash is no slouch either and then there's quality performers in Goodwin and Yardy. Even Yasir Arafat can clear the ropes. Glamorgan's batsmen tend to play square of the wicket where it's a long hit for 6 here. A lot of them play the canny dabs and sweeps too rather than a full on swipe over the ropes. Both bowling attacks are tight and hard to get away. Glamorgan tend to use a part timer or two as a 5th bowler though and that could cost them. Although I think Glamorgan will win the match, I think Sussex will hit more 6's with the Glamorgan batsmen scoring their runs by picking gaps and nudging and sweeping. 4pts Middlesex vs Essex - Over 7.5 6's 5/6 Skybet I've not had a lot of luck with the 6's bets over the last couple of days but I have got the advantage of seeing what wicket they will use for this match having been to Lords on Wednesday night. It'll be 4 to the right looking at the pavilion than the one used on Wednesday night so it's a short hit to the Grandstand. The straight rope to the Nursery End isn't that big either. Both sides have big hitters in their ranks. Gilchrist and Warner will open for Middlesex with Dexter, Shah, Morgan, Malan and Berg all capable of clearing the ropes. Essex have 6 hitters themselves. Bopara, ten Doeschate, Styris and Foster can all clear the ropes and Napier can too if he plays. Both conceded over 180 in their last outings so we know there's 2 bowling attacks on show that can go for a few and with this match played on a different wicket to the last match I think we'll see at least 8 6's here. 1pt ew J.Foster Top Essex Batsman 10/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) James Foster top scored for Essex against Glamorgan the other night and he's now taken over the captaincy so he'll be looking to score well with the bat again here. He was 2nd top scorer when Essex played here last year and has already got a 3rd place as well as his top score to his name this season. The concern is that he bats at 7 and might not get much time at the crease but Middlesex had Somerset 4 down after 5 overs on Wednesday night so they can take wickets up front. Foster's in good nick with the bat and usually goes well when he comes in. Coming in off a top score at 10/1 I think he's a decent ew bet.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 2 other bets. 3pts Gloucestershire to beat Kent 6/5 Bet365 Both these sides have had hit and miss starts to twenty20 this season. Both have won a match each but have lost matches too. Kent began with a win but have lost 3 on the bounce since then while Gloucestershire lost to Glamorgan 1st up before trouncing Surrey and then losing to runaway leaders Sussex. Gloucestershire do have Steve Kirby back for this one and that could be key because they have leaked a few runs on this ground against Kent. They're going fine with the bat though having destroyed Surrey and making over 160 against a good Sussex side. James Franklin remains a key cog in the unit with his all round talents. Kent are down to the bare bones in terms of resources and having lost 3 on the bounce confidence might be a bit low. They're going fine with the bat but are having trouble stopping the runs from flowing. Darren Stevens is the form man with the bat while van Jaarsveld and Jones are going ok. With the ball it's a different story as everyone seems to be going round the park at the minute. Gloucestershire tasted conditions at the Kings School which is an outground for them, here on Friday night and that good be well in their favour. If their batsmen can keep going well then this Kent attack is there to be hit. Gloucestershire's bowlers are going ok against a batting lineup that in the main is struggling and at 6/5 with home advantage I'll take the Gladiators in this one. 3pts Surrey to beat Hampshire 13/10 Bet365 What sort of state will Hampshire be in here? They're another side who won their opening match but have lost 2 since and in their 3 matches they haven't threatened 120 yet. They come in here off the back of that calamity on Friday night where 6 wickets went for 4 runs when only 12 were required from 4 overs. Surrey lost their 1st two but shocked Somerset yesterday. Hampshire have Kevin Pietersen available for this match. Hampshire members like myself will have forgotten what he looks like having not played for the county since 2008 :loon. Neil McKenzie could be the one to go for him. Other than that it'll be the same side which lost that Somerset match with injuries to bowlers hurting Hampshire hard. Surrey went well against Somerset and should be full of confidence coming into this match. Andrew Symonds hasn't done much yet but with the more cricket he plays the better he'll get. Younis Khan and Mark Ramprakash are run machines and the openers have runs in them. Surrey's bowling has been fine. Tremlett and Nel tight, Dernbach hard to work out with his slower balls then the spin trio come on to strangle. Surrey were always going to pick up once they put a score on because they're bowling well at the minute. How Hampshire's batsmen will be after Friday night is anyone's business. I'd hope this wicket will be better than that one but the scars are already there. Surrey won't have no scars from bad pitches and I think they are a big price to beat a side who've been beaten in their last 2 matches. Surrey for me here.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Another day of bad fortunes. Not going to dwell on it but I ended the day -2.79pts so now down to -25.82pts. Confidence is starting to take a hit in this competition now. I'm in a place I've not been before in that I'm 25pts down in a county competition, one I usually do very well in historically too. I called the TV matches right roday though and there's a TV match right through until next Monday now so hopefully I can start eating into this defecit ASAP. One match tomorrow.

Yeah your overall assesment has been good. Just the markets chosen are not working out. Though ur comments are doing just fine for me. Got stuck into runs yesterday as you mentioned abt pitch 4 at lords and boundries easily available. Made an handsome profit. Albeit thanks to the second last ball 6 over point. Flat bat. which got them to 199 and the final bye which brought in my 200th run :) Even layed Middlesex @ 1.10 for fun as the lower middle order looked good. And you spoke about foster being in good form ( who btw was pathetic yesterday) and greened out @ 1.65. SO overall a great game for me, based on ur assesment. So all in all u just about there, but not just quite. Kepe digging mate. All thats in our hand is to work hard. The results will take care of themselves :hope

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 3 for me in this game. 5pts Durham Most 6's 11/10 Coral I think this is a belting price on Durham to hit the most 6's here. It's odds on across the board other than Corals and that's not hard to see why. Looking at their top 7 and they can all clear any boundary in the world and Liam Plunkett down the order is no mug when it comes to giving it the long handle. Mustard, Blackwell, Taylor, Collingwood, Stokes, Benkenstein and Albie Morkel is a fearsome top 7 for bowlers at any level let alone this one. Leicestershire's main 6 hitter this season has been Andrew McDonald and he's off with Australia A at the minute. Benning, Hodge and Nixon can all hit 6's but not to the scale the Durham top 7 can. Both have batted 3 times in this tournament and although Durham have played at Edgbaston where the boundaries are in due to the building work that's countered by playing at the big surface at the Riverside. Durham have hit 21 6's to Leicestershire's 12 in the tournament so far. So Durham are averaging 7 6's per innings to Leicestershire's 4 and I think that's about right. Durham's attack can give 6's away but I'm not sure Leicestershire have the hitters to capitalise. Stats and batting lineup's support Durham in the 6 hitting so at odds against I'm very much on here. 2pts P.Collingwood Most Economical Bowler 9/2 Stan James Only these 6 count: Matthew Hoggard, Nadeem Malik, Claude Henderson, Stephen Harmison, Paul Collingwood and Liam Plunkett. I quite like Collingwood in this market. Derbyshire were attacking yesterday and going at over 9 an over but his 4 overs went for only 21, 6 of which came in one hit so that's a decent effort. I think he'll be the tightest of the Durham players. Harmison is currently going at 9.25 an over and Liam Plunkett over 10 an over. The Leicestershire trio are a lot more economical, all 3 currently going at less than 7 an over but they've not encountered a batting lineup like Durham's yet. One of the reasons I like Collingwood here is 4 of Leicestershire's top 6 tonight are scoring at a strike rate of less than 100 in this tournament so far and one of the two over 100 is only going at 105. So this Leicestershire side don't score too quickly until the end of the innings whereby I expect Collingwood to have bowled his overs by then. I think this is between the Durham trio and with the other two going at over 9 an over I'll take Colly in this market. 1pt ew A.Morkel Top Durham Batsman 8/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Albie Morkel has already top scored and come 2nd for Durham in his 3 innings for them this season. In the other one he was 4th, 2 runs off a place when he ran out of overs. That shows he's a cracking ew bet at 8/1 but with Leicestershire's bowling attack going fairly well then I think they could get Morkel in at a time where top scoring is very much on. We know he'll bat, even if it means moving up the order because he's such a powerful hitter but I reckon he could feasibly bat at 5 here. It's a good lineup for Durham but they can only play one way and being 60/4 wouldn't totally surprise you. Given his record across the world in this format as well as his record for Durham so far this season combined with the fact he's their 3rd highest scorer in the competition makes him a great looking ew bet at 8/1 here.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 have patience... at the time it did seem like mustard was aiming for the 10ft inside the rope, he hit like 5 in this area.. There have now been 12 or 13 6s, ive lost count. I actually saw this this morning on Coral and thought what has their odds compiler been smoking, i would actually put leicester quite near the bottom at 6 hitting and this durham lineup probably top.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Well they say when your luck is out your luck is out and never will that be more apt than tonight. The 6's came in no problem but how the Collingwood bet doesn't come in I'll never know. Henderson conceded 6 off his 1st over, just 1 off his 2nd over when for some reason the biggest hitter in the county game was sweeping and missing :wall, 6 off his 3rd and 9 off his 4th to set Collingwood 5.50 an over. After 2 overs Collingwood was 7 off 2 overs - 3.50 an over. Then Matthew Hoggard, king of the forward defensive, comes along and hits only the 2nd 6 in his career than gets out next ball to leave Collingwood on 5.57 an over. You really couldn't make it up :wall:wall:wall. Still, despite all that the 6's bet ensured a 1.5pt profit for the day to put me back to -24.32 for the competition now.

When ur luck is out, its out. But a great pick mate nonetheless !
