Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 3 for me today. Rose Bowl isn't happening for me tonight so I'll have to wait until next week for my 1st twenty20 fix of the summer. 3 bets tonight, still one for the Rose Bowl game although I won't be cheering it on and 2 for the TV match as well which is Middlesex vs Sussex. TV game 1st. 3pts Sussex to beat Middlesex 4/5 Boylesports Sussex began their defence of the twenty20 cup in impressive style against Somerset on the opening night and they'll be full of confidence coming into HQ for this game. Middlesex begin their campaign in this match and have made a couple of noticeable signings for the competition. This match sees the last two winners of this competition go head to head. Middlesex have Adam Gilchrist in their ranks tonight. David Warner, their other big signing for the summer hasn't arrived yet. Owais Shah and Dawid Malan will form solid options in a batting lineup which is devoid of Andrew Strauss and Eoin Morgan who are with England. Steven Finn misses out in this match too as he's also with England but Murtagh, Iain O'Brien and Pedro Collins aren't the worst seam attack. Shaun Udal skippers the side with his off spin. Sussex will probably go into this match unchanged from the last game. Luke Wright was in good touch with the bat that night and he'll look to continue that here. Fellow big hitter Dwayne Smith failed that night but he'll aim to make up for that in this match. Murray Goodwin, Ed Joyce, Chris Nash and Michael Yardy make up a very good batting lineup. Yasir Arafat, Luke Wright and Martin-Jenkins will form the baulk of the seam attack with James Kirtley doing his magic at the death. Sussex will be buzzing after the other night while Middlesex are missing plenty of players and coming into the game without much match practice in the format. Sussex are hard to beat at the best of times but I think they'll win this tonight with Middlesex's shortcomings. 5pts Middlesex vs Sussex - Over 7.5 6's 5/6 Skybet Whilst I was at the test match the other day I did a bit of thinking ahead to this match. At lunchtime we were invited onto the outfield so I took the opportunity to look at the square and pick what wicket I think they'll use tonight. Assuming they don't use the test match wicket, and after a 5 day test match I can't see it happening, then the only wicket that was being prepared was one 3 to the left of the test wicket as we looked from the Nursery End. That means we've got a fairly short hit - in comparison to some on this ground - to the Mound stand, down the hill. Going with the slope the left handers, of which there are quite a few in this match, should be able to pick up and clear this rope nicely. We've got plenty of big hitters on show here. Gilchrist, Shah, Malan, Wright, Smith, Arafat and even Nash and Goodwin. So there's more than enough personnel to provide with the required hits to bring this line comfortably in. 3pts Kent to beat Hampshire 6/5 William Hill Kent begun their campaign to reclaim their title last night with a comfortable win over Essex in a very good game of cricket. Hampshire are the ante-post favourites for this competition and they begin their quest to make their 1st ever finals day this evening. More emphasis is placed on getting to finals day for the Royals with finals day being at the Rose Bowl this summer. They'll know that Kent did the double over them last year so will need to play well to win this. Hampshire will welcome Abdul Razzaq into their side tonight as he takes on an overseas role for this competition. Shahid Afridi has pulled out late on however leaving Rangana Herath as the 2nd overseas player. Captain Dimitri Mascarenhas makes his comeback from injury tonight as well which will be a boost for Hampshire who also have England world twenty20 winning opener Michael Lumb in their side. Sean Ervine, Michael Carberry and Neil McKenzie complete the international line up with the bat. Dominic Cork will look to aid the youngsters around in the bowling attack. Kent will probably be unchanged from last night. Rob Key and Joe Denly will open the innings. Jones and van Jaarsveld will baulk the middle order before the explosive hitting of Stevens and Mahmood come into play. With the ball, Stevens, Cook and Mahmood are all hard to get away while Tredwell and Bandara will aim to limit the runs with their spin. Kent thrashed Hampshire twice last season and having had a game under their belts in this season's event they'll be better prepared than the Hawks who may have a couple of rusty players in their side. Kent look to be getting Hampshire at a good time so I'll take them to win this one.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Rough night tonight. The 6's bet was gone as soon as they were playing on the test match wicket. Surprised at that decision because they had close to 20,000 there and you'd think they'd want a high scoring match to get them back again but not the case apparently. Sussex won that match but Kent were edged out by Hampshire. -5.6pts on the night which makes it a really poor start to the competition with a loss of -7.68pts now. Very early days though so hopefully it'll turn around.

Glamorgan vs Gloucestershire is live on TV albeit that Welsh channel S4C (sky 134). I think it will be with Welsh commentary but it's cricket on TV and all the markets that come with it. I'll stick my bets up tomorrow once team news has been made available.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20

Where do you get your team news from? SkySports news?
Various places mate. Usually the counties websites :ok. Just the two for me tonight. 1 in the TV game and one match bet. TV game 1st. 3pts Glamorgan to hit most 6's 11/10 Blue Square Glamorgan have some big hitters in their ranks. The likes of Cosgrove and Allenby opening the innings can both go over the top and hit it a long long way and then further down the order there's Dalrymple, Maynard and Wallace who can also give the ball a big biff. Gloucestershire don't really have too many big hitters. Gidman can swipe it as can Taylor but neither are naturally aggressive in the way Cosgrove and Allenby are. Glamorgan also have the advantage of 4 overs of Shaun Tait up their sleeves. James Harris is bowling well at the minute too and there's potentially 3 spinners in their ranks. Franklin, Lewis and Kirby are good options for Alex Gidman but Gloucestershire have a habit of relying on part time bowling to use up some of their overs which could be costly in a 6's match. I'm confident on home soil that Glamorgan will know where to hit and will outhit the Gladiators in this match. 4pts Durham to beat Lancashire 4/5 Bet365 The Riverside is sold out for the opening game of the Friends Provident twenty20 in Durham tonight. Lancashire are the visitors for what should be a good match. Both these sides have graced finals day in the past but as yet neither have got their hands on the trophy. This is the 1st game of the competition for both sides and both will be hoping to begin with a win. Durham have named a very powerful batting lineup tonight. They could in theory put up a top 6 of Ian Blackwell, Phil Mustard, Ross Taylor, Ben Stokes, Dale Benkenstein and Albie Morkel - that's a top 6 which would rival most in this tournament. Stephen Harmison is fit again with the ball and he, Plunkett, Morkel and Claydon aren't the worst bowling attack in the world. Blackwell and Borthwick will provide very solid spin options. Lancashire will give a debut to Simon Katich tonight. Shivnerine Chanderpaul, Lancashire's second overseas player for this competition, is still in the West Indies. Paul Horton and Stephen Moore are standout players with the bat in this side but with no Ashwell Prince, I just feel this Lancashire batting lineup lacks runs. Glen Chapple and Sajid Mahmood will lead the bowling. One thing Lancashire does have is good spin options in Parry and Kerrigan but they'll need to be at their best to contain this batting lineup. Durham look very strong here and in front of a full house I think they can pick up a win here. Their batting looks so much stronger than the Lightning's and that can be the difference for the Dynamos in this match.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Both those bets lost. Well, the Glamorgan one tied but is still a loser. I'm -14.68 now :(. There is a game today. I can't copy the odds-comparison odds onto here because it looks awful but the odds are Durham 8/11 vs Worcestershire 6/5. There's a bit of rain around in Durham today so I'm going to leave it and hope that any play that there is will allow Moeen Ali to fill his boots.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 2 for me today as the weather is meant to clear up. One match bet and a top bat in the Glamorgan game which is once again televised on the Welsh S4C channel. Match bet 1st. 3pts Surrey to beat Gloucestershire 8/11 Stan James Surrey begin their twenty20 campaign in front of their own fans this evening when they take on former finals day attendees Gloucester at The Oval. Gloucestershire have already played one match which they lost to Glamorgan so they'll be hoping to pick up their 1st win this evening. Surrey were awful in this competition last season but having signed well in the off season bigger things are expected of them this season. Surrey will have Andrew Symonds making his debut this evening. Steven Davies will open the batting with Rory Hamilton-Brown. Mark Ramprakash is in the squad as is world twenty20 winning captain Younis Khan. Usman Afzaal will complete the top 6. Chris Schofield has an excellent record in this competition and Andre Nel, Chris Tremlett and Jade Dernbach will look to keep things tight with the ball. Gareth Batty is another spinning option. Gloucestershire have recalled Jon Batty to their squad for this match on his old stomping ground. Alex Gidman's injury isn't too bad to stop him from playing. Overseas duo James Franklin and Ian Butler are both in the squad but Steve Kirby is out with injury so Jon Lewis and Anthony Ireland will form the rest of the seam attack. Vikram Banerjee is a solid bowling option for Gidman and is going well in one day cricket this season. Surrey are going well in one day cricket this season and will be confident of a good showing here. Gloucestershire's batting looks a touch weak to me while Surrey bat right the way down which is encouraging for them. Surrey's attack has a bit of nous and Symonds adds a lot in this format of the game. I think this is a good fixture for the Lions to begin with a win. 1pt A.Razzaq Top Hampshire Batsman 10/1 Totesport Abdul Razzaq is a nice price here I think. He didn't go brilliantly with the bat on Thursday night when Hampshire got their twenty20 campaign underway but to be fair to him Hampshire were chasing a nothing target and he'd only been in the country 24hrs. I think he'll go well here at the Swalec though. He's an incredibly big hitter of a cricket ball, particularly straight and that's perfect because the straight boundaries here are a lot shorter than the square ones. I'm not a huge fan of win only top bats for someone who will bat 6 but with conditions probably suiting bowlers 1st up and Hampshire's top order having to face Shaun Tait and James Harris - a potent duo - then I'm happy to chance this one with the knowledge that he could go up the order to propel/make full use of his hitting ability. I'd say he's overpriced at 10/1 so I'll have a small win bet here.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Another bad day. When we look back at this tournament when it's over that Gloucestershire annihilation of Surrey will be the big surprise of the competition. C'est la vie.

This tournament has started very poorly for me. The good thing is there's lots of time to turn it around, hopefully starting tomorrow although it must be said the weather isn't looking brilliant. I'm off to Middlesex vs Somerset tomorrow so hopefully the weather improves. I'll come back with picks tomorrow.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 In a bit of a rush so that I can get away to get down to Lords tonight but I'm hitting with 3 tonight. 2 in the TV match which is Derbyshire vs Warwickshire and one at Lords. TV game 1st. No huge writeup's given the lack of time. 3pts Warwickshire to beat Derbyshire 9/10 VC I've covered Warwickshire in my outright post but they started their campaign brilliantly tonight even in the absence of Bell and Trott, both of whom are available tonight. Throw in twenty20 specialist Darren Maddy and Carter's pyrotechnics at the top and Warwickshire have a solid batting foundation. Carter and Woakes are good with the new ball then Imran Tahir comes on and spins webs on the opposition. Derbyshire have started brilliantly but Yorkshire and Leicestershire aren't as good as Warwickshire. The Bears have been brilliant in one day cricket this season and in all forms with Bell and Trott around and despite a potential 2nd debut for Charl Langeveldt for the hosts this evening, I think Warwickshire will take this one. 1pt ew R.Peterson Top Derbyshire Batsman 7/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Loots Bosman is the man getting all the attention at Derbyshire so far but it wasn't a long time ago that Robin Peterson was opening the batting for South Africa in limited overs cricket. He's batting at 3 or 4 in this competition which immediately makes him a big price here. I can't actually find out if Langeveldt is debuting tonight but if he is then Chris Rogers will sit out which is another boost. Greg Smith would be a danger below Peterson but there aren't many other dangers below him in the order, the rest are above him in the form of Bosman and Hughes. Derbyshire don't bat long but one man who very much can bat in this lineup is Peterson and at 7/1 he's worthy of an each way bet. 4pts Somerset to beat Middlesex 4/5 Stan James I backed Middlesex to win this competition outright but I don't expect their campaign to really catch light until tomorrow night when Dave Warner arrives. One boost for the Panthers is the return from international duty of Eoin Morgan. He'll join Owais Shah and Adam Gilchrist in the batting lineup. With Steven Finn not eligible this bowling attack looks a trifle weak while Iain O'Brien is out injured. Somerset have Kieron Pollard making his debut tonight and he's likely to fit into the lineup at number 3. Trescothick, Kieswetter and Hildreth will all bat round him. Cameron White doesn't begin his stint until after Australia's one day series with England so Murali Kartik will continue as the 2nd overseas player on his old patch. Without Warner and O'Brien along with Finn and Strauss, Middlesex are missing key personnel. Cameron White's arrival gives them a bit of an overseas headache but I think they have all bases covered to win this tonight.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Goodluck with those bets keV! I agree with the pieterson shout- great value there! don't think langevelt is playing - so rogers will prob play! As a Somerset fan, let's hope they turn up tonight! Didn't bat well aganist Sussex but we have a potent batting lineup with pollard joining I hope Compton is dropped for him - then ur looking at a top 6 of tresco, kieswetter, pollard, de bruyn, hildreth and buttler with trego in at 7!!! Nice! Having sad that surreys top 6 on pape looked good yesterday - I lost money on that one as well! One extra bet for me- Derbyshire most 6's - hills 5/4 - 3 points derby have been hitting 6s for fun with most of their top order hitting some in previous matches - warks, on the other hand will rely on boundaries with the likes of chopra, troughtonand even bell. Not known for explosive hitting! This is a stand out be for me hencea 3point bet !

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Langeveldt is due to play tonight but his flight has been delayed so we won't actually know if he's playing until the toss. If he does play then Rogers won't which boosts the Peterson and Warks bets.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Cheers ani. Was a surreal knock. I couldn't wait to see Kieron Pollard play in the flesh. I was at the Windies/England game in the world twenty20 last year but rain denied me the chance to see him really bat. Luckily I wasn't denied today and sweet jesus. He hit 7 6's and I don't think he found the middle of the bat on any of the 1st 6. The 4th one he was nowhere near the pitch of the ball yet he went through with the shot and it ended up in the top tier of the pavilion :rollin:rollin:rollin.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Much better night for me in this competition last night. Hopefully that's the start of the corner turning with fixtures coming thick and fast now for the next 3 weeks. Back to -12.38pts for this now ahead of tonight where I'm going with 4 bets. 3 in the TV game which is Worcestershire vs Nottinghamshire and one elsewhere. TV game 1st. 3pts Nottinghamshire to beat Worcestershire 8/11 Stan James Nottinghamshire begin their quest for twenty20 glory this evening having watched everyone else get their campaigns underway. The Outlaws will be looking to go one better than they did in 2006 when Leicestershire controversially beat them in the final. Worcestershire have never even sniffed a finals day but come into this one with a win and a no result from their two matches so far so they'll be hopeful of pulling off an upset in front of their home crowd. Worcestershire won't make too many changes, their squad isn't that big. Steven Smith plays the 3rd game of his 5 match spell in Royals colours with Phil Jaques filling the other overseas spot. Vikram Solanki will partner Jaques at the top with Moeen Ali and Alex Kervezee making up the top 5. The batting looks ok for Worcestershire but the bowling attack looks awful. Gareth Andrew and two young seamers in Jack Shantry and Imran Arif. It's got a cannon fodder look to it. Nottinghamshire look very strong tonight with their two overseas players as well as world twenty20 winners Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad in the ranks. Interestingly Broad hasn't been named in the side on the Notts website but he is available tonight so there could be a late change. David Hussey takes the reins for this competition and his attack will be spearheaded by Dirk Nannes, his Victorian team mate. Samit Patel and Graeme White provide the spin options. Hussey will form a top order consisting of the exciting Alex Hales and the ferocious Ali Brown as well as Patel and club captain Read. Nottinghamshire look really strong with their internationals here. They can be a side who flatters to deceive but this is a very young Worcestershire lineup and I think Nottinghamshire will have too much for them in this North group clash. 4pts Over 7.5 6's 5/6 William Hill I'm quite happy with this line. When Worcestershire played Yorkshire last week on this ground there were a ridiculous 20 6's in the match. Admittedly that match included a Yorkshire attack which is going round the park at a ridiculous rate at the minute but Yorkshire hit 11 of those 6's which emphasises what I said above about the cannon fodder element of this bowling attack. Nottinghamshire have plenty of 6 hitters in their ranks and if the likes of Ali Brown or Dave Hussey get in they could clear the total on their own. Dirk Nannes will be tough to get away but there's a couple of back up bowlers who Worcestershire, with a few hitters themselves in Solanki, Ali, Smith and Scott, can get after. It's usually a decent deck at New Road, when it's not under water, and the straight boundaries are perfectly accessible so I'm happy to believe we'll get the required 8 6's here. 1pt ew J.Cameron Top Worcestershire Batsman 10/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) Despite batting down at number 7 in this lineup, James Cameron top scored with 51 last week when Worcestershire beat Yorkshire here. That could move him up the order a bit but there's every chance Dirk Nannes will take a couple of top order batsmen with him when he opens the bowling. The middle order can be a touch hit and miss so a cameo down the order could well be the order of the day. Worcestershire hit 208 in that match last week and Cameron still had enough time to top score. He can hit a ball down the order and I think at 10/1 he's a good each bet for the Royals in this match. 3pts Durham to beat Yorkshire 10/11 Blue Square I'm not going to be a big Durham backer in this tournament as I feel their two overseas players have overrated this side a bit in the bookies eyes but I do like them here against a Yorkshire side who's bowling has been carted in their two matches so far. Both these sides are looking for their 1st win in the competition this season but Durham do have a point to their names courtesy of their rained off match with Worcestershire. Yorkshire have England bowler Ajmal Shahzad back in their side tonight which will be a much needed boost to a bowling attack which has gone for 430 runs in 2 matches so far, 2 matches with sides who have weaker batting line ups than Durham too worryingley for the Headingley faithful. Clint McKay has a few wickets to his name but he's been very expensive for an overseas player. Gale, McGrath and Rudolph form a solid start to the batting but there's a weakish looking element to the mid/lower order. Adil Rashid will hope to have a good game having seemingly been forgotten by the selectors. Durham have a potent top 6 when they are going well. Mustard and Blackwell can destroy any attack and if they don't pull it off Taylor, Stokes, Benkenstein and Morkel most likely will. Steve Harmison is in the squad tonight as is Mitch Claydon and so Durham's side has a solid look about it. One worry would be the captaincy inexperience of Phil Mustard but he can't argue at the options available to him. Durham will be overrated this season but I think this is a fixture they can win against a Phoenix side who are leaking runs at an alarming rate. It's a big game for both sides but one thing we know about Durham is they have a lot of big name players and at not far below evens I'll take the County Champions to prevail in this one.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Derbyshire did the business for me with the 6's bet last night - I was gutted with the Peterson bet though as will hill didn't give me the each way option! He came so close with his not out! Glad to see mighty Somerset let off the shackles! Well pollard!!! I completely agree with your match summarys and have both those matches as 2 point bets - I have also gone with; Durham, Surrey, notts - treble - odds of nearly 11/2 will hill - 1 point I lkie a little side bet - feel confident that Surrey will come good despite their mauling earlier in the week, davies is a player I really rate and combined with ramps, afzaal (who drives me mad) symonds and rhb - they have some good talent - combined with a balanced attack with schofield, spriegel spinning and dernbach and nel pace options - Essex too look strong but I back Surrey to come good. Durham have a really strong all round team and could destroy yorks attack , whilst worcs should be way to weak for notts! Aftertiming I know but I had a Somerset, Sussex, warks treble in last night at odds of just over 4/1 d.hussey top notts bat - 3/1 1 point I rate this guy and think he will be a great leader fir notts in t20 - my only concern is his batting position , but all should become clear soon - I'm hoping he comes in at 3/4 which should give him enough time at the crease.

Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Hussey will bat at 5 for Notts. Notts are prone to losing a couple of early wickets in this from of the game so he could well be in before too long. I like the look of Wood to top score, 6/1 at Coral. He will come in at 3 and has a handy 20/20 average of 30. Broad isn't playing today, it's Notts home game against Worcs on the 13th he can play in, plus the 15th. The 6's bet looks a good shout Kev, I have jumped on with Paddy Power who are 10/11 on over 7.5 6's. Would take Essex over Surrey who got thrashed last time out, and Durham over Yorkshire.

Well you very nearly missed the J Cameroon bet. Have been a follower of ur bets since a long time and just want to let you know that you are doing a fantastic job mate. You are helping us punters take these bookies on, in more ways than even u know. Your comment on Worcs bowling being awful helped me big time. I betted big on Notts to score 43+ runs in the first 6 overs and made a handsome profit. So its not only ur bets, but ur overall opinion is priceless. Just wanted to point this out to you. Am sure u understand what i mean. KUDOS ! :ok Keep em coming.
