This was run on Virgin with 2 finals; a NLHE HU event and the main event being a €100 + €10 buy in. Both events had satellites running and all was contested in the usual PL spirit. Croc ran out the HU bracelet winner and Dave488 winning the main event. Who could forget the PL participation in the Aussie Millions......Wasman and Runadrum making the long trip over there to what is one of the biggest events in the poker calendar with all the big names present. Washy unfortunately went out just before the end of day 1 and runadrum made it through to day 2. The draw for day 2 seating was made and runa gets lucky with an easy table which includes Thomas Bihl, Andy Black, Joe Hatchem and some bloke called Phil Ivey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well runa safely gets through day 2, then through day 3 as well and into the last 24 players in remember what is one of the world’s biggest poker tournys! Ivey already out, Black already out! Runa still in! Day 4 starts and in an HOUR runa loses 100k in antes and blinds alone! He makes a stand with AK against Kostritsyn’s QQ and with a Q on the flop runa is out in 19th for 65000AUD !! Kostritsyn also went on to win the tournament. 19TH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome awesome awesome stuff Duncan and a feat that will take something VERY special if it is ever to be bettered on PL! Everyone’s MTT wins keep getting posted up and PL finish with a total of $106,896.08 for January FEBRUARY February saw the start of our dealings with Poker Kings, running a monthly league. Winner of the 1st league was Washman after a hard fought battle with Borokp but the all important wooden spoon was won by Stewartd14 We also saw some cracking results in the daily MTT winnings thread including pistonbroke winning a £1000 bonus after winning 4 consecutive dirty dozen sit and go’s, cracking stuff, hard enough to win 2 or 3 or trot but 4 was fantastic. Mad Duke winning $2379 in Poker Kings 20 euro F/O Washy winning $1690 in Virgins 20 euro deep stack Washy (again!) winning a $3230 poker jolly to Slovenia GaF winning a 42”LCD TV and DVD player on Sky poker GazBlades winning $2805 on Party Poker and just missing out on a WSOP main event seat We saw the month out with total MTT wins to the value of $44,378.88 MARCH The March Poker Kings league was won in convincing style by Heniek who had nearly 250 points more than the runner up! Wooden spoon honour this month went to Stodin. Also this month with Poker Kings we ran a “Rake Race” in which Dobbin was triumphant The end of the month also saw an amazing gesture from a PL’er. Runadrum made a decision a while ago to donate 10% of the year’s poker profits to the PL regulars in a one off tournament with the winnings going to charity and despite winning a huge amount in the earlier Aussie Millions he was true to his word... Just look at the amount of the donations to see how much was at stake and some very good charities benefited thanks to the generosity of one man. Prague also suffered a PL invasion when VC held the Prague Poker Palooza there. Morls, Burnly Joe, Rosco, Spurman, Swampster and Geordie Gaz making the trip out there. Morls won $500 for getting his chest waxed there by 2 Spearmint Rhino lap dancers!!!Burnley Joe finished 4th in the main event for 500 euro's and was also 2nd overall for all 3 events - winning £4600 !! Notable daily MTT wins this month for.... Washy in the Trillion $5k added, winning it for $5602 Happy Hornet winning the Poker Kings 10 +1 F/O for $356.13, a new PB for him at the time A new PB for RIVRD as well after winning a paradise deep stack game, $1899 GaF winning $1185 in the Trillion 5k added Washy winning a $2750 GUKPT package March total was $47,563.34 APRIL Poker Kings league this month was the closest finish yet with jolly67 beating Fenners by 1 POINT!!! All important wooden spoon this month to gazabroad who won it with ease. This month also saw DaMatrix win a $10,000 WPT package APAT regional Championship games were also played around the country and saw Morls finish 2nd in the Northeast game winning 8 ranking points, silver medal and a seat to the Scottish national in Edinburgh in May. Elsewhere Ubermonkey finishing 9th in Brighton, WASP 11th in Walsall and Burnley Joe WINNING his heat in Plymouth and also getting a Scottish National seat We also had the Virgin Festival at Aspers and had a big contingent of PL’ers present. Loads went up the night before to play the £20 F/O at Aspers and Uber was the main PL’er of the night, cashing in 7th for £220. Onto the Festival main event and top PL’er was borokp finishing in 13th MTT wins again this month.... Gaf again in the Trillion 5k added game, 3rd for $2408.60 WASP in a betfair 20k game, 3rd for $2400 Chatoman winning a $2500 WSOP package April MTT total $35,502.72 MAY Let’s start again with the Poker Kings league and congratulations this month to Warbirds with a 1st place. Wooden spoon this month awarded to philossify Bodog and rounder’s radio were running a WSOP promo and the final was played out in April, guess what – won by a PL’er !!!!! Congratulations to Strider who won a $12k package to the WSOP MAIN EVENT!!!!!!!!!! Flush magazine run an APT Poker Tour promo with the winners getting super sat tickets into the final, a few PL’ers win tickets but Woodie only goes and wins the bloody final – a $6k package !!!!!!!!!!!!! Paddy Power run an Irish Masters Tourney, can you guess what’s coming..........Get in there Heniek - $4259 package!!!!!!!!! Thursday 8th May was a busy day for PL, loads of tourneys on to take your pick from. Ubermonkey had made it to the Hendon Mob finals – Takes it down and that’s another WSOP package!!!!!! Meanwhile Red Fear is busy playing another game and suddenly – that’s it – yet another WSOP package!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great going guys The Trillion PL v Blonde challenge gets under way and starts with a convincing 11 – 4 win for PL More good MTT wins as well.... Myrie16 decides to play his first ever PL Omaha tourney on Pokerstars – $10 entry, 180 entrants and a 2nd place!! deal was done and walked away with $1100 GeordieGaz wins the Virgin 20euro F/O for $1395 Rivrd in the Paradise deep stack, 1st for $1527 Rivrd also set a new PB in the 32Red 17.5k tourney, 1st for $4865 Rivrd again in the Paradise $10 rebuy, 1st for $3578 May MTT earnings $67,472.27 WHAT A MONTH!!!!!!!! JUNE Poker Kings League won this month by McG and wooden spoon to fenners Everest poker ran an awesome WSOP main event promo – PL there again in force, winning not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 WSOP MAIN EVENT PACKAGES WORTH $13K. Congratulations to glceud, philossify, runadrum and borokp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everest then runs another promo for a WSOP $3.5k mini package – taken down by another PL’er!!!!!!!! Congrats ColU. A few months ago ColU had also said he would donate 10% of last year’s poker profit from Mr and Mrs ColU in a charity freeroll, this took place this month and again some worthy charities benefited thanks to Mr and Mrs ColU. Yet another awesome gesture, thank you. The next Virgin Festival was taking place at DTD and again a strong PL showing. Mad Duke was the main man, winning the event and taking home £10,801 32Red ran a Euro2008 promo; Fonzie battles through the field and over several legs win the event and walks away with several thousand euros !!!!! PL ran a promo with Paradise with a seat at the Scottish National for the winner, a package worth £1300, tight competition that ended with an STT and the all important prize at stake. Won in the end by Morls who had a trip to Scotland to look forward to. More good MTT results this month... Marek76 in the Betfair 3k guaranteed for $1500 The Mole winning the high rollers challenge on Poker Kings for 6080euro’s MTT total $137,681.58 JULY July’s Poker Kings league was won this month by Marlin with Heniek winning the wooden spoon. Inside Poker ran a freeroll with a $10k package to South Africa for the winner, won by Chess July also saw a PL poker weekend at Paul + Pene’s place in Copenhagen although I’m not sure of the correct ratio between poker played and alcohol consumed!!! We also had the APAT Live Forum challenge in Blackpool, all the main forums were present and Rosco was our top finisher, ending up in the money in 12th MTT wins this month.... Millbet coming 4th in Annette O’s Betfair 20k for $2000 Millbet again, winning the Poker Kings $20 F/0 for $1537 then follows it up the next week with a 1st again for $1447 Washy winning a $2750 GUKPT Luton package Marek76 3rd in the Betfair daily 16k for $1904 Total for July - $35,287.53 AUGUST Poker Kings league win this month for Goater and wooden spoon awarded to Nade although this was a touch harsh as there was 5 other “cowards” !!!!! on 2 scores who didn’t play the final leg. August also gave us the PL BPP Olympics with numerous events, overall winner was Guppie. The Trillion PL v Blonde challenge was still going on, 4 legs played now and we had a narrow 10 – 9 lead Remember Morls won his Scottish Championship seat? He played it this month, gets through day 1 and into day 2 and eventually finishes in 14th MTT wins... Beekeeper winning SJ Sunday roast for $1000 A fairly quiet month compared to the others, maybe a WSOP hangover? Total $22,580.46 SEPTEMBER Poker Kings league winner this month was Rosco, wooden spoon to Geordie Gaz although he was pushed close by Guppie Another big step this month was the start of the PL Staking forum. It started with Morls idea and I don’t think anyone could have imagined just how successful it would become. The big event this month was the PL WSOP. Qualifiers had been running for a while and September saw the live final take place at DTD in Nottingham. 2 events, a PLO and the main event being NLHE Main event winner Fenners PLO winner – WASP MTT winnings.... Mad Duke in the 20 euro rebuy on Paradise, 1st for $1590 Washy winning a $7k package to the Poker News Cup in Melbourne Total MTT wins $38,217.20 OCTOBER Poker Kings league this month was won by Guppie again. Wooden spoon to philossify. Washy was out in Melbourne for the Poker News cup, gets through day 1 ok but busts out after an hour of day 2 after his KK meets AA. The APAT PRO-AM took place in Luton. Blatch makes it to the final table as chip leader, eventually winning and becoming 2008 APAT Pro AM Masters Champion, earns him £6720 and a £4000 GUKPT Grand Final Package This month also saw Heniek playing in the Irish Masters, some notable hands and cracking play and he ends day 1 on 59k which puts him in 12th! Day 2 and Hen’s chip stack keeps growing (as well as something else when a pretty girl with huge bazooka’s – his words not mine- is seated next to him). Bazooka girl is soon out and her seat is now occupied by Andy Black! A while later someone raise’s for 20k, Hen pushes his 43k all in with KK and the raiser calls and shows A10. A flop of AA* is no good and Hen is out in 27th for 2540 euro’s MTT wins this month.... Adetrick finishes 2nd in the Paradise 10euro F/O for $3355 McG winning $2000 in the Laddies LEOCOP WASP winning a $2750 GUKPT package Total wins for the month $49,981.46 NOVEMBER Another tight end to this month’s Poker Kings league, gazabroad just edging out Avon Girl for the title. Wooden spoon won by borokp but again plenty of people in the running missed the final game. This month also saw TonyG poker giving us a value added league and this was won by Fenners. Inside Poker ran a freeroll with the winner getting a £1300 package to the GUKPT Blackpool, once again PL rule the roost with Adetrick taking it down! The GUKPT Blackpool took place with a few PL entrants, adetrick going out early to set over set. The end of day one saw adetrick out, mole out when 10 10 busted by AK, SteveO on 17k and WASP on 19k. WASP looking happy in the background! WASP ends up finishing 20th for £1700 MTT winnings this month.... Mcgin wins the Poker Stars daily 80k for $10,200 Winnings - $48,968.10 DECEMBER And into the festive period we go..... The Poker Kings league was won by Dave488 but the real battle took place at the bottom for the wooden spoon. Going into the last game gazza was in pole position but Samba Sampa and Daveygh also pushing hard. Gazza and Samba finished 1st and 3rd in the final game giving daveygh a narrow win for the spoon. December also saw the annual PL Christmas Freeroll, this year hosted by Paddy Power and thanks to the generosity of all the sponsors 39 people managed to win a prize ranging from tourney entries to merchandise packs. Centre Bet held an Aussie Millions freeroll. Adetrick has been on fire this year so no great surprise to see him take down this tourney as well and claim the $15000 package!! 32Red were running 28 days of Xmas promo, on day 28 it was a $6000 APT Philippines package. The final 2 were both PL, Mad Duke and Dodger. Dodger wins it in style with his final hand being quad 7’s! The Trillion PL v Blonde tournament ended in December, PL were triumphant but it was a close call in the end. In legs it ended up 4-4 but the points showed as PL 65 against Blondes 55. It had been an amazing series and in the whole played in a very good spirit. MTT winnings.... Belgareth winning the Poker Kings FTF for $4682.80 Woodie in the Poker Stars 8k guaranteed winning $1152 December total $64,539.56 Well what can we say? It has been an amazing year for Punters Lounge Poker. We have had people playing all around the world in the world’s biggest tournaments. We have won just short of $750k!!!!!!!!!! Everyone that post’s in the poker forums is what makes PL so special and I really do feel honoured to be amongst you people. It’s been an amazing 2008, together let’s make 2009 even better.
