Re: PDC World Darts Championship

Hmmm. Nothing. Thought it was gonna be a big announcement or something.
stereoman, it is usual sky hyping a interview thinking he may say he was gonna quit or not play the semi's...Taylor was angry last night and said he may quit. which i agree as mason was well out of order. mason deserves to be banned etc..he aint got the bottle. he proved that when he missed the PDC champsl to play the BDO one and got his ass whipped.....

Re: PDC World Darts Championship Hmmm. I think I had the right attitude but the wrong market as I should have gone for the highest checkout market instead in which Darren Webster threw a no guts, no glory 164 to help win the fifth set (5-4 to Taylor in the 180s btw). Taylor did indeed turn on the 180s (maybe he read my preview and didn't like what he read! :lol) but as soon as the match was more-or-less in the bag he didn't have to turn it on no more. Hamilton creeps past a resurgent Terry Jenkins (and Andy gets checkouts of 124 and 121 in doing so! D'OH!!). Andy Jenkins faltered in places but Osborne buckled when holding a 3-1 lead in sets! van Barneveld did enough. Semi-finals day, 3-dart averages of previous match plus match times (prices from Ladbrokes). First to SIX sets: 1/10 Raymond Van Barneveld (96.31) vs Andy Jenkins (89.91) 11/2 19:15 1/9 Phil Taylor (101.51) vs Andy Hamilton (97.86) 5/1 21:00 To win the tournament: Phil Taylor 2/5 Raymond van Barneveld 5/2 Andy Hamilton 10/1 Andy Jenkins 25/1 http://www.planetdarts.tv/page/WorldChampsDetail/0,,10180~948767,00.html Can't see anything worth betting on apart from anything that might appeal in the specials. Stan James seem a bit harsh in their selections... Handicap betting: * van Barneveld (-4 sets) 5/4, Tie 7/2, Jenkins 5/4 * Taylor (-4 sets) 11/8, Tie 7/2, Hamilton 6/5 Why do I get this silly feeling that Raymond's going to throw a double 18 to win the 1st set? Not a double 20, 16, 10 or 8 is 13/8 over at Stan James. rvbaj-sf-sjodds.jpg

Re: PDC World Darts Championship Today's Bettingzone Market Moves: 1445: Bookies reckon Phil Taylor will see off Raymond van Barneveld in a classic final at the PDC World Championship in Purfleet on Monday. The two best players on the planet both sparkled in their semi-finals, each recording a 6-0 whitewash against dangerous opponents who had been on top form previously. Van Barneveld took only an hour to win 6-0 against Andy Jenkins, which meant he could sit back and watch Taylor try to beat Andy 'The Hammer' Hamilton. And the 13-time world champion responded to the challenge as he registered a three-dart average of 106 in completely demolishing one of the rising stars of the sport. And the bookies clearly give the nod to 'The Power', Bet Direct and VC Bet making Taylor a 2/5 chance while bet365 and Paddy Power are tops with their 9/4 quote about Barney. Bet Direct have gone to town with a plethora of special bets on the match and make it just 11/2 that there's a nine-dart finish. They are also betting on each player's three-dart average - it's 7/4 Taylor tops 103 while van Barneveld is 4/1 to do so. ========= Just had a brief look over at Bet Direct's page and they've seemingly got far and away the most specialist markets (far too many to list properly though). Who'll get the most 180s? van Barneveld 4/7, Taylor 2/1, Draw 6/1. Phil's surely more than slightly overpriced or is he going for treble 19s!? :lol :rollin

Re: PDC World Darts Championship I'll be brave, or crazy, I'll know which one come 10pm Monday! 10pts R.Barneveld to beat P.Taylor 2/1 Boylesports It's the final I think most darts fans wanted. Quite clearly the 2 best players on the planet at the present time will collide in what could be a right old ding dong of a darts match. 17 World titles between them. The standard of the pair is simply breathtaking at times and if both play well this will be the greatest final ever. Since he went 0-3 down to Colin Lloyd in round 2 though Barney hasn't put a single dart wrong, he hasn't lost a set since then and has averaged in or around the 100's every time. His averaged dipped below a ton in the semi final but missed doubles in the 3rd set accounted for that. He gave up an easy life on the BDO to play in matches like this and the Dutchy is certain to be up for this. Taylor has got the final he wanted. He was at his most brilliant best in round 2 when he saw Mick McGowan off. He's been impressive all tournament but I'd like to see how he reacts to a bit of pressure he's sure to be put under in this one. Both these guys score heavily and it's not beyond the realms of possibility we see the 9 dart hit in this match but in terms of the bet, if Barney is level with Taylor or ahead after 4 sets he's got every chance. I actually think Barney could win this quite comfortably if he comes out the traps. A great game in store, I can't wait. The Dutchman is never a 2/1 shot with the head-to-head reading 2-2 with a draw as well so Barney is the value call in a final I think he'll win.

Re: PDC World Darts Championship The true head to head between Taylor v Barney is something like 9 or 8-2 to Taylor. As Taylor tonked Barney for several years in other tourmanents not shown by Sky. Cant believe you think Barney could win comfortably, if Taylor loses it ususally always in the last set and if anyone wins comfotably it will be Taylor. For anyone backing Barney the 9/2 at BetDirct to win in over 11.5 sets is the bet for them, because i would be astounded if Taylor dint win 5 sets at the very least. I hope it is a classic match but i fear that Taylor will put the pressure on Barney and Barney can't live with it and Taylor wins 7-2 or 7-3.

Re: PDC World Darts Championship Eh. Ladbrokes' offerings: pdcfinal-ladodds1.jpgpdcfinal-ladodds2.jpg A nine-dart finish is a paltry 8/1 with the official sponsors (you can get 10/1+ elsewhere). :eyes I don't like the odds. They're too tempting for Taylor punters who'll probably come charging in at around 7:30pm wanting to place a bet on Phil. What am I missing? :\ I don't think it'll be a classic match but it should be fairly entertaining if Taylor allows van Barneveld to get into the match in which Phil will probably will. We may somehow get a repeat of the recent Part/Painter finals where Taylor teased and taunted his opponents into having to produce superhuman efforts just to keep pace. ...if that's the case I expect van Barneveld to somehow storm into a 4-1 lead and then get pegged back and get beat 7-6. Taylor is in a weird mood. It'll be up to Phil what happens. If Taylor is in the mood to punish, he'll do it at will. As it is, there's something about this match that I don't like which scares me from putting on any bets. I expect The Racing Post to put a postive spin whatever the outcome tonight in the fact that they tipped van Barneveld at 5/1 e/w. :eyes

Re: PDC World Darts Championship I think the Power will have too much for Barney tonight. If the champion decides to up the ante like he did against Mcgowan, then the dutchman doesn't have much of a prayer. There are still too many questions about him in my eyes. Quite simply, Taylor is better and if he plays as we know he can, then he will win. Barney is gonna have to finish superbly and take out some big shots to come close to this title. Not a Taylor banker by any means, but I just know hes gonna win tonight. I haven't bet anything, I'm just gonna watch the power show who is easily the boss :dude

What and incredible game, best darts match I've ever seen. It really was top notch viewing :ok and that above was a top notch prediction. I think you predicted it pretty much spot on Kev. I didn't think Barney would be able to sustain that sort of play, but he did. Really good call well done :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap ;)

Cheers mate. I just thought that Barney's heavier 140 and 180 scoring in the tournament could give him the advantage over Taylor and so it proved. A good end to the tournament for me personally and a superb final for the tournament. A fitting finale for what was a superb tournament.

Re: PDC World Darts Championship :ok kev, have been following this thread with great interest and really it has made the tournament that much more interesting to watch. peops like yourself and gazblades make the darts a bit more special. i have the re-run of the final on now in the background and will be recording the same to keep at 1300. now a confession, i too doubted barney would stay the distance. yesterday i was looking to get taylor -1.5 matched at 1.77 on bf. luckily i decided taking any lesser odds would not be value. :D another thing that slightly put me off was that it seems with the darts being so commercial these days that the sponsors would want a close final. maybe i'm being drawn in to being too cynical about maoney in sport, after reading quotes about stage management etc and having watched the early amir khan fights. watching the first 3 sets, to me, it really looked to me like barney was gone at the game. to me his body language didn't look right. where was his calmness drawn from zen buddhism? my next thought was that ihope barney gets a set as otherwise i'll really regret not covering 7-0 to taylor. barney then managed to pull back a couple of tight sets. at this stage i had to leave the match as i was already late going out. i didn't look for the result until 0100 on the sky sports news and then i hear something like "Raymond Barneveld wins PDC darts final in sudden death victory again Phil Taylor" :loon well what can i say, but that a result like that makes you realise that you should never say never in sport, and say stuff like the good guys do win, and it "doesn't matter more when there's money on it" maybe it's jusy me but there are times when i think having a bet on a great sporting event takes from the enjoyment. well done kev. apologies for doubting :unsure your judgement :lol and hope you filled your boots. :cow :nana:cow
