Contested a grade 1 hurdle as a juvenile and runs here off more than twenty pounds lower rating. ex Nicky Henderson and was third on chase and yard debut behind Stepney causeway to make an immediate impact in the discipline. Dropped a pound here too. Both of these rivals are highly tried over fences and whilst offering plenty of ability offer little else. Dr newland travels north with Sam Twiston Davies and another runner. After yesterday’s flat extravaganza it is rather famine after feast with low fields here. He gets weight from the top weight but has to concede ten pounds to a course and distance winning hurdler who has tried many times in chases but has the best chance yet here on these terms. Do they not realise that some people bet on the flat in the summer and jumps in the winter. And that Sunday is a day when people have time on their hands. Form strongly franked by classy flat horse who won class threes twice since, going down not by much in heritage handicap at Newmarket. If anything this winning pointer wants further and enjoyed run at Aintree. Up against some accomplished horses but could be up to striking a blow here. A typical Sunday Charlie Longsdon type.
