  • MCLARKE changed the title to Racing Chat- Tuesday 19th April

An uninspiring day for my new style Trixie bet, with only one race properly qualifying.

Instead, I will have a traditional Trixie for 2 points and some singles to back it up

1.40 Sed Armattikan 10/3 + 2 pt win bet at 4.6 (PL Nap).  I think that this will beat Hughe's mount.

7.05 Wolv Spirited Guest 6/1 +1 pt win bet at 7.8

7.50 Worc Wetanwindy 9/1 + 0.5 pts win at 10/1

1 x 2 pt win Trixie = poss return of 223.48

Total stakes 5.5 points

I'm still not betting on the flat until 1.5.22 so all a bit restrictive atm

Why not bet on the flat? Jumps is worse this time of year most of them are cream crackered. just think if you had had trixies on Buick or Appleby you would have got a few up by now. plenty of trainers are having multiple winners why not pick a trainer/s that has 3 or 4 runners (not massive stables like gosden, Johnson Fahey) ie Menusier, Fanshawe,  Charlton, Morrison. to follow? try anything as long as it isn't what your doing now and i do respect what you have said in past etc but it just isn't working is it? Personally i think you need to get away from these short price horses because once you start losing your bank it is so hard to get back in front at least with a trixie at 4/1+ you have a good chance of wiping out your loses in one bet.

RESULTS UPDATE

Maybe Armattiekan had been on the go for too long and that is why it ran badly. Who knows.  Anyway, my bets were not system bets today and I don't call a 0.5 pts Trixie with a possible return of 223.48 points as backing short priced favourites.  The accumulated loss on the system bets remains at - 2.40 points which isn't disastrous.  I will continue with the system bets until the 30th April.  If I can't find 3 races I won't play.  I love Will Buick and other top Jockeys and trainers on the flat but I will keep to the plan of not backing on the turf until 1st May.  Even then, I will not back in any races where there is little form to go on for over 25% of the runners in any one race and that they are in the betting market at less than 9/1.

MTD -63.80 pts and YTD -219.61.  I don't like putting up losers any more than anyone else.  One point truly represents a £1 unit stake and, as I have said before something to the order of £220 for almost four months of entertainment, though not welcome, does not seem a very high price to pay.  This equates to around £2 per day.
