MCLARKE
Probably the first horse I won money on, Nohalmdun in the mid 80s. For the pure joy of watching a horse without having a bet on, it has to be Frankel. cannotbebeat, NAGNAGNAGNEIGH and gbettle

Wanderlust
My best memories are mostly from the 80's. Like Trotter, Dancing Brave does it for me. Best horse not to have won the Derby, thanks to A shocker of a ride from Starkey. Favourite moments, all from Cheltenham and all that I was fortunate enough to witness Dawn Run winning the Gold Cup Dessie winning the Gold Cup and my favourite Danoli winning the Sun Alliance 1994. Never heard a roar like it, before or since, at a racecourse. Every man and his dog had backed it. gbettle, Donnyflyer and MCLARKE
cannotbebeat
My favourite horse is....... my next winner lol. Seriously my 1st bet was a winning bet on a grey called Outpost and I also liked Sea Pigeon. gbettle and MCLARKE
Nigwilliam
I still remember my dad shouting for Nicolaus Silver in the '61 National as he'd put a few bob on it, much to mother, s disgust. MCLARKE and gbettle
Trotter
I got into racing quite late ...... early to mid 1980s when I was in my 30s I hadn't heard of many horses before then I knew of Arkle......... Red Rum, Foinavon ......... I expect the Grand National was the only race I was aware of. I knew of The Derby but I'd never watched it. I do have one horse racing memory from the early 1970s ...... I was at home with my Mum and something came on the radio about Brigadier Gerard winning again. I remember asking my Mum why everyone in the country didn't put all their money on Brigadier Gerard and everyone would be rich. Not sure I understood betting ...... or frankly, economics Nigwilliam, MCLARKE and gbettle 2
Offramp
Vostizza. The name appeared on the front page of The Sporting Life in an episode of Public Eye, "Unlucky For Some".
santos_
Goldikova is probably my favourite, She was incredible and could go anywhere and win. Also have a soft spot for some horses that used to be difficult to predict. Tidal Bay over the jumps and Pastoral Player on the flat. Astleavista
Only one for me “Mill House” would have been a legend if born in a different decade to Arkle!!! Ken
Pankysmooch
First memories of racing were as a kid in the 70’s picking out Red Rum in the Grand Nationals, after that it was Mtoto and Desert Orchid in the 80’s
