All prices Bet365:

1.00 Pontefract - 1pt e/w Qawamees @ 16/1

These conditions suit and his only win came over this course and distance when running off a 2lb higher mark than today. Went well fresh last year despite the Michael Easterby yard having a quiet time of it during the summer and they appear in decent enough nick at the moment. Several of these will want to go forward that should suit this hold-up type and I think 16/1 looks too big with the 8 runners going to post.

1.30 Pontefract - 1pt e/w Tynecastle Park @ 8/1

His best form has clearly come on the all-weather which is why he's rated almost a stone better on the artificial surfaces but his best turf run came over 2m5f around here and he's probably the strongest stayer in the field. That 2nd here came off a mark of 65 and although he's 4lbs higher today, his all-weather rating has risen up to 79 in that time frame. It may be that whilst enjoying those surfaces, he's actually a bit better as a horse nowadays and is worth chancing off this mark I think as he's had obvious excuses in his past three runs on turf (heavy ground and twice facing hot company at big prices).

2.10 Bath - 1pt e/w Who Told Jo Jo @ 12/1

Going to need some luck in this cavalry charge but Who Told Jo Jo had a pipe opener on the all-weather to set him up for this and that fitness edge can help today. Twice ran really well over course and distance in the summer off higher marks than today and won at Windsor last July off a 1lb higher mark with today's rider on board. Will relish a fast pace and with conditions to suit and fitness now on side, looks to hold good claims here.

2.20 Exeter - 2pts win Steal A March @ 5/1

Ran no sort of race at Uttoxeter when last seen but this one isn't a great jumper and doesn't tend to travel too well either so the combination of that, a sharp track and strong competition put paid to its chances that day. Was sent off as a fancy to win that and I think can bounce back here. Runs against easier opposition, this ground can help him jump a bit better, has cheekpieces on to aid concentration and the stiffer track should stop him from getting too outpaced, so lots in its favour today.

2.30 Pontefract - 1pt e/w Ballyconneely Bay @ 11/1

I backed this one on both its second and third start last season and he improved for each run, culminating in a ready success over this course and distance when last seen. That form reads well with the runner up (beaten 2 lengths) now rated 86 and this horse has proven himself at this quite unique track, he travels well and stays well and is likely to race prominently from a decent draw which is a big plus around here too. First run for Julie Camacho and fitness taken on trust but appeals at a double figure price.

4.35 Pontefract - 2pts win Copper And Five @ 6/1

Did little wrong in 3 runs last season, not beaten far on each occasion and shapes like this test will suit. A stiff mile on good ground should suit this one who was a shade unlucky when last seen and its dam stayed 2 miles so the extra emphasis on stamina around this venue looks sure to suit. Ruth Carr tends to go through hot and cold spells as a trainer and her horses were largely uncompetitive last summer but that's changed over the winter and this horse returns at a time when the yard are in decent nick, which is a huge plus. Signs this one can be ahead of its mark now and I think should go well if fit enough.

One more added due to French winner, liked this last night but wasn't sure what to do. (Wonderful World) has experience on side and should take all the beating.

Thank you very much. Had a profitable day yesterday and between the two days they counteracted the horrendous day I had on Sunday when I was down 17pts.

Just started looking at tomorrow, looks a tough day so might play it safe.

Yes, I feel that trying to find even a few winning favourites out of any day's racing is a tough job.  Even at Exeter today there were only two 10/11 favourite winners with a 4/9 shot being beaten.  And, who could have guessed the 50/1 shot Itsabouttime? Well The Star tipped it but I don't think that many people would have backed it.  You are very brave to have quite a number of selections throughout the day.  I feel that the ideal way is to consider a number of fancied runners from the next day's racing and then to eliminate the weaker ones and only back the ones that appear to have the strongest chance of winning a race bearing in mind their nearest rivals in the market.  If they all lose what the heck but do not then settle for the second best options, they rarely come good imo.  There is always another day in racing where one's skill and judgment will shine through and counteract earlier disappointments.  Good luck ?
