The first Premier League games of 2021 are coming up from Friday and it remains uncertain if we'll see any more covid-19 related postponements. I'm off for a week now to have my first break in a year so I won't be able to get any previews up for these matches but keen to still see you guys post your thoughts so I can read them when I'm back. To be fair, national lockdown in Wales means I'll probably still pop on to post! I'll get bored of cavorting with the local sheep at some point, I'm sure. :ok

Manchester United vs Aston Villa

After a very poor start of the season, very few people believed Manchester United could even get into the top four. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side entered a streak that launched them right behind Liverpool. The Red Devils are just two points behind their fiercest rivals, thanks to nine matches in which they missed the chance to win only twice. Although the hosts failed to secure a place in the Champions League knockout stage, they can fully focus on the title race instead. Bruno Fernandes and the lads have shown a strong mentality since they trailed in several matches but managed to end up as winners eventually. It seemed that Wolves would remain undefeated at Old Trafford last Tuesday, but Marcus Rashford’s injury-time goal brought them an important victory. Manchester United had a very poor record at Theather of Dreams, but they managed to improve and get ten points from the last four games at the home ground. They need to be consistent to remain in the title battle.

Aston Villa barely survived last season, and they were projected to fight against the relegation once again. However, they are enjoying an excellent campaign and sit in fifth place, being three points behind Everton and Leicester City, but with a game in hand. The visitors entered a five-match unbeatable run, during which they celebrated three times. Dean Smith’s side is one of the best defensive teams in the league, having conceded only 14 goals. On the other hand, Jack Grealish and the lads scored twice more and managed to find the back of the net eight out of the last nine games. The Villans are the third-best visiting team, as they suffered just one defeat from seven outings. In addition, they recorded only one draw and managed to get back home with all three points on five occasions. The away side hopes they can continue the unbeatable run at the Red Devils’ expense.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

We expect to see a very exciting clash as both teams should search for a win. However, we find the hosts being slight favorites, and they should pick up all three points from this game.

Goals Market Prediction

Six out of their last seven clashes at Old Trafford went over a 2.5 margin. We expect to see another interesting display from both sides, and at least three goals in total.

Manchester United to win @ 1.75

Westbrom vs Arsenal

There has been 3 meetings on January with WBA(1w) Draw(1) and ARS(1w). On all the 3 occasions the winning team always has been on top of the other in the table. Currently ARS are 13th and WBA 19th in standing.

1st Jan 1955 ARS VS WBA 2-2

30th Jan 1935 WBA VS ARS 0-3

2nd Jan 1932 WBA VS ARS 1-0

WBA have struggled for form and managed to win only 1 game at Hawthorns stadium since the start of 2020/21 season. Furthermore, the appointment of Sam Allardice better known as Relegation"firefighter" has not yielded positive results to WBA has hosts . However, the Gunner's turmoil ended as they have won the last 2 domestic matches after struggling for a while.

Always a risk you can follow some things over a cliff but I'm going to keep the faith a while longer!

Spurs v Leeds: 20 points each on a Kane assist and a Son assist at 13/5 with Lads.

I've also used a 1 point freebie that's about to expire on Kane 1st goal, last goal and assist at 66/1. Better than letting it go to waste!

2 out of 3 elements on the 66/1 shot but not too bothered about that as the dynamic duo both provided assists.

Nothing as strong in the Brighton v Wolves game but I've had a bit of a study and gone for these bets.

12 points on Gross to assist at 21/4 with 888

3 points on Trossard to score from outside the box at 28/1 with Hills

5 points on Neves to score from outside the box at 18/1 with Hills

3 points on Saiss to score a header at 25/1 with 888.

Chelsea vs Manchester City

Chelsea has been very active in the title battle, and many considered them one of the hottest favorites. However, their poor displays in December saw them declining to the 6th spot. The Blues booked just one victory in the past five rounds, and they are now six points behind Liverpool. After two consecutive defeats against Everton and Wolves, Frank Lampard’s side put a convincing performance against West Ham in a 3:0 win. However, when everybody expected them to get back on the winning track, Chelsea failed to a 3:1 loss against Arsenal. Moreover, that was one of the poorest displays lately, and players were criticized for their complacency. The hosts picked up just a point last Monday at Stamford Bridge when Aston Villa came to town. Although Tammy Abraham and the lads have been one of the most productive teams in the league, Chelsea needs to tighten up their defense as they kept the clean sheet just once in the past seven games. Nevertheless, a good home form gives Chelsea fans hope that their team can celebrate in this derby clash.

Manchester City had a slow start to the season, but they improved lately and got closer to the top four. The Citizens are leveled up with their rivals on the table, having two games in hand. Although Pep Guardiola’s side hasn’t been efficient as expected, their defense is the best in the league. Manchester City hasn’t lost ten games in a row in all competitions, and during that period, they missed the chance to win only three times. Kevin de Bruyne and the lads celebrated in the last three games, beating Southampton, Arsenal, and Newcastle United, respectively. However, they still need to improve their away displays, as they managed to get back home with only three wins from seven outings. A potential victory from this match can see them back in the battle for the top.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Chelsea hasn’t played very well in derbies this season, and they struggled against the top Premier League teams. Manchester City has the chance to get back home undefeated from this game.

Goals Market Prediction

Both sides have been pretty efficient lately, and they want to pick up where they left off. We believe they are capable of scoring at least once in this game, and we shouldn’t see nets remaining intact.

Saiss header lands, so I'll push my luck a bit further with a few of the same sort of bets in the West Brom v Arsenal game.

4 points on Pereira to score from outside the box at 20/1 with 888

12 points on Xhaka to have 1 or more shots on target from outside the box at 11/2 with PP

15 points on Lacazette to have 1 or more headed shots on target at 4/1 with Skybet and 5 on him to score a header at 16/1 with Betway

Chelsea vs Manchester city

There has been 9 meetings on January with CHL(2w) DRAW(2) MAC(5w) and the last time Mancity won 2-4 as the visitors  against Chelsea was 1993.

31 Jan 2015 CHL VS MAC 1-1(EPL)

9 Jan 1993 CHL VS MAC 2-4(EPL)

1 Jan 1992 CHL VS MAC 1-1(EPL)

20 Jan 1979 MAC VS CHL 2-3(EPL)

11 Jan 1969 MAC VS CHL 4-1(EPL)

22 Jan 1955 CHL VS MAC 0-2(EPL)

24 Jan 1948 MAC VS CHL 2-0(FA CUP)

22 Jan 1921 MAC VS CHL 1-0(EPL)

15 Jan 1921 CHL VS MAC 2-1(EPL)

Chelsea(under Lampard) has lost only one EPL game at Stamford 0-2 to Liverpool but has not beaten a top six team as the host. Additionally, the blues are having a miserable form and managed only  1 win out of  5 in the last EPL matches.

Since the start of 2020/21 season Mancity( under Pep) has lost one away match 2-0 vs Tottenham but has not beaten a top six team as visitors. However, Guardiola's men have played averagely but managed positive results, and citizen's firepower will actually cause a lot of trouble to inconsistent Chelsea squad.

A bit of good fortune to start the New Year's fixed odds betting with 3 winners from 10 bets (Kane and Son assists at 13/5 each and 25/1 for the Saiss headed goal). The bet on Gross was void as he didn't feature; not sure how I managed to back him as the line ups had been announced when I placed the bets! :$

87 points staked returns 222 for a profit of 135 points.

Hi guys, what's up with 5 City players missing from today's game because of the COVID19 infection ?

I've got CHELSEA TO WIN @ 3,20   &

CHELSEA NOT TO LOSE  @ 1,70  at local shop (PSK) in Croatia,

So, the prices haven't changed much since opening of the book? K.Walker and G.Jesus  are definitely down with C19, any other news? Anyone else fancies the Blues to perform well today?

Southampton vs Liverpool

Southampton sits in ninth place, but the hosts are only three points behind the third-placed Tottenham Hotspur. However, the home side has been searching for a win since their 1:1 draw against Arsenal. In the last four rounds, the Saints have picked up only three points and declined to the middle of the table. Danny Ings and the lads failed to score three times in a row, but they conceded just one goal during that time, the one in the 1:0 defeat against Manchester City. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side plays pretty tight in the back, as they have one of the best defensive works in the league. However, Southampton celebrated just once in the last four games at St. Mary’s Stadium, and another tough challenge is ahead of them.

Liverpool still tops the table, but they are joint leaders with Manchester United. After the last-minute winner against the Spurs and an impressive 7:0 victory away to Crystal Palace, everybody believed the Reds could stabilize their form. However, West Brom took a point from Anfield, as Big Sam made a return to the Premiership. Another poor display came against Newcastle United in the game that ended in a goalless draw. Jurgen Klopp’s side booked only four wins in the past nine matches in all competitions. On the other hand, very few people saw Manchester United returning to the title race, and that’s putting a bit more pressure on the visitors. Liverpool struggles when playing away from home as Mo Salah and the lads got back home with all three points just twice this season. They need to get back on the winning track urgently and stop spilling points.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

It is going to be a tight clash since both sides have been dealing with goalscoring troubles in the past couple of games. The match can go easily in both ways, and we don’t think Southampton can lose by more than one goal.

Goals Market Prediction

If we remove the victory against Crystal Palace from the picture, Liverpool has been struggling in converting chances into goals at away grounds. Since Southampton is disciplined in the back, we don’t expect to see more than two goals in total.

Southampton AH +1 @ 1.75

Under 2.5 FT @ 2.20

Correct score 1:1 @ 9.50

Southampton vs Liverpool

There has been 12 meetings on January with SOU(4w) DRAW(2) LIV(6w) and the last time Liverpool won 0-1 as the visitors was 2003. However, St Mary's stadium has experienced few encounters with  Liverpool winning once and all the games yielding Under2.5 goals.

11 Jan 2017 SOU VS LIV1-0(EFL CUP)

22 Jan 2005 SOU VS LIV 2-0(EPL)

18  Jan 2003 SOU VS LIV 0-1(EPL)

9 Jan 2002 SOU VS LIV 2-0(EPL)

Jurgen Klopp has never lost to Hasenhuttl in all the 3 encounters. However, Klopp has faced Southampton 13 times with more wins(7) and few draws(3) and Losses(3). All that said, Liverpool away form has been average and only won twice( 0-7 vs Palace, 0-2 vs Chelsea)as visitors in 2020/21 season.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has never won against Liverpool, inclusive 3 encounters under Klopp. Additionally, the saints have started 2020/21 season on a high note but failed to beat any top six teams at St Mary's stadium.

Not a lot going on today so I'm up unusually early with my bets for Southampton v Liverpool, taking a chance on the starting line ups. Some of the stakes quoted are aspirational rather than actual. Keep betting fun as they're all so keen on parroting! :wall

12 points Adams to assist a goal at 23/4 with 888 (boost from 11/2, which is fine)

4 points Ward-Prowse to score from outside the box at 16/1 with Sky Bet (14/1 Betway ok)

20 points Ward-Prowse shot on target from outside the box at 11/4 with PP

15 points Firmino 1 or more headed shots on target at 11/2 with PP

5 points Firmino to score a header at 13/1 with PP (probably should have left this and just had more on the 11/2 for one on target!)

15 points Robertson to assist a goal at 4/1 with PP

15 points Alexander-Arnold shot on target from outside the box at 9/2 with Sky Bet
