The day started well with a winner and then nothing else.  I was annoyed with myself for not at least backing War Glory in the 1.55 Lingfield and including Lethal Lunch in my multiples when Clive Cox has had no winners out of 64 runners in the past five years! We live and learn.  I was hoping to end up in profit this month but this was not to be.  That’s racing.  The important point is to keep to the plan and a decent profit will follow.

My horse finished 2^nd at 9/1 beaten 4.5 lengths by Rock Sound that was no where really in the betting and finished 7/4 favourite.  The only tipster was Racinmg Post Ratings.  I don’t know how to play these market springers.  Obviously their earlier higher prices offer value but there has to be doubts about a 7/4 price even if it the horse did win by 4.5 lengths!

Not sure if you have already explained this,  but how do you bet your doubles/trebles on the Betfair Exchange?
On the multiple bet side of betfair (sportsbook) the prices are no better than anywhere else.

Hi Graham; I place my win bets on the Betfair Exchange and my multiples on Sportsbook.  Betfair used to have a "multiples" section on their menu which meant that I could achieve returns at Betfair SP but they no longer show this option.  I used to have a number of bookmakers accounts open but I didn't like using them because this meant having deposits spread over a number of accounts which rather waters down the ability for individual bets.  I now just have one account with Betfair (I can't get on with Betdaq).  I only state that I place my win bets on Betfair Exchange out of being honest.  I do usually get better odds than the best prices of the bookies on Oddschecker, however I of course incur a 5% commission on my winnings so I have to be careful.  I hope this explains my situation

Two winners yesterday but not coupled.  I was disappointed with Templepark in the 3.40 at Taunton and although I wrote elsewhere that I could not find a decent outsider today I was interested in Walt.  It had such a bad right up in the sporting press so I didn’t back it for win purposes.  Lesson learned.  It won by a neck at 16/1.  £15 loss on the day.

Haha, I missed it when looking through the racecards today.  Should have watched out for it as I had no winners today.  You are very eagle eyed.  Three favourites won at Newcastle and then some outsiders.  Very difficult to truly work out which horses will perform to their best on Heavy going unless they are stand out performers.  This is a problem for tomorrow though because Uttoxeter is forecast Heavy going and both Cheltenham and Wetherby are forecast Soft, Heavy in places.  Cheltenham has the class action whilst Wetherby isn't too bad with class 4 races being the lowest.  Wolverhampton has the lowest class action whilst Lingfield has a few decent class races.  If Cheltenham and Wetherby stay the same I will be considering selections there; I will probably skip Uttoxeter though.  I had a bad day when I wrote the above note; possibly should reconsider only horses that are proven on heavy going if I am prepared to back them.  For  doubles and treble purposes I would need a selection close to the front end of the market that has proven form on heavy going. Very frustrating day.  I had the first winner in on a double and then the next race my horse came second.  More annoying for me is that I tipped Diessel Dalia in the Cheltenham Comp and then forgot to back it to win.  Stupid.  Lesson learned.  Hence a complet blank day for me.

No bets today, been awake all night with raging toothache.  I need a tooth extracted.  As my dentist doesn’t opne on Saturdays’ I was told by Dental line that they can only look at the tooth and provide temporary treatmnet whatever that is supposed to mean.  It is a 20 minutes appointment so since an extraction takes about 40 mnutes I am clean out of luck.  Looked at Private services and found out that I could possibly get the job done but there is something like a £150.00 Admin fee plus the cost of the dental treatment.  I guess the message is don’t get unwell at the weekend.  I will struggle on until next week.  I have an emergency appointment with my dentist on Tuesday, booked last Wednesday!  And I reckon that the tooth will still not be removed on that day.  Not feeling too happy with the NHS or the private sector today.

 

Not sure about tomorrow’s racing either. I will have to wait and see how I feel.

Many thanks for your kind thoughts; the strange thing was that Friday night the throbbing was driving me mad.  However, following my aborted attempt to be seen by a dentist the nerve pain actually settled down and as long as I don't eat and drink on that side I now feel that I can get away with waiting until Tuesday morning even though I know that my dentist will not extract the tooth on that day.  I am very disappointed with a system that does not provide adequate support at a time of need unless one is very rich ?
