StevieDay1983 Posted May 1, 2018 Author Share Posted May 1, 2018 Juventus took a huge step towards sealing the Serie A title with their win over Inter Milan last weekend and Napoli losing to Fiorentina. The Old Lady are now 4 points clear at the top of the league table with just 3 matches remaining. Roma, Lazio, and Inter Milan remain the three clubs battling it out for the remaining two Champions League qualification berths. One of those sides plus at least one of Atalanta, AC Milan, Sampdoria, and Fiorentina will qualify for the Europa League. In the battle to avoid relegation, Benevento are already gone. Hellas Verona will have their fate sealed this weekend if they don't win and even a win might not be good enough if other results go against them. The final relegation spot is still undecided with any team up to 12th placed Bologna still not mathematically safe. There is also the Coppa Italia Final on the following Wednesday after these weekend matches so don't forget to give us your views on that game. StevieDay1983 Posted May 5, 2018 Author Share Posted May 5, 2018 Lazio vs Atalanta One fascinating game taking place this weekend in Serie A is at the Stadio Olimpico where Lazio will welcome Atalanta for a 2pm kick-off this Sunday. The home side are aiming to qualify for the Champions League next season and the visiting team have got hopes of qualifying for the Europa League. Simone Inzaghi's side are currently in 4th place but just 4 points ahead of 5th placed Inter Milan with just three games to go. A defeat here would really put the pressure on going into the final two matches of the season. Unfortunately, their home form is far from the best with 9 wins, 4 draws, and 4 defeats from the 17 matches on home turf. This is far from a banker. Gian Piero Gasperini is doing a cracking job with Atalanta but they are still a long way off capping the season off brilliantly. The club is sitting in 6th place but have a rampant AC Milan just 1 point behind them and then Sampdoria and Fiorentina just 3 points behind them. A loss here and other results going against them could see them really suffer. I would love to see Atalanta reach the Europa League but I think they could drop out of the qualification spots this weekend. Lazio have won 5 of their last 6 league games and are unbeaten in 8 league matches. However, Atalanta have won their last three league matches and are unbeaten in their last five league games. I just think Lazio's home advantage will see them pick up a narrow win.
